  1. I had a situation that called for a "Redwolf" and didn't happen. T34 sitting on a ridge, engaged a MkIII. During the movie, the MkIII id resolved into a MkIIIL. During the plotting phase, I determined a)the chances of damaging the L were very slim to none; b)3 Tigers were climbing up that ridge that the L was on and would reach there soon(due to other info from the Borg. Based on this, I ordered a reverse, but being regular and out of C&C was gonna take about 30 secs. Well, the Tigers crested, the mkIIIL got a turret pene w/cas, shocked the crew and the tigers KO'd it 3 times before the last survivor was blown out of the hatch. Now, where the hell was this "retreating" behavior at there? I am shocked and appalled that the AI wouldn't run for the reverse slope in this situation...
  2. In our group, I would agree; but in the tourney as a whole it was a favorable score for me as I recall. Yes, I have a NOKIA. My wife has a MOTOROLA. Hers is better, but mine was free...you get what you pay for. I still have that screenshot you bastard... I almost broke my computer that morning watching that 200m shot arc in! Yes, that "strategy" saved you from a bigger butt whupping didn't it.. Note to TB: The hell with the geography thing. Let us regroup the old section and fight this grudge match out. In addition, please give Kettler his own thread and call it "John's constant Update thread" or somefink. Please...
  3. I use a BRITA water filter. WAIT, I just read the label and it is made in Finland!! That would explain all the huffiness and posturing that I am doing! I just brought up the Geography thing cuz I did...thought it would be neat to see who was the best in the region. Although, Berli and Rune live here too...must be the water....Juha was right...
  4. You Finnish Fool! I take your gauntlet and fart it back at you! I am glad to blast you to "Heck and Gone" again. I rememeber in our game all the weird **** that was going on. I would have squashed your Canucks like a pimple, but for your luck and the fact that I had about 2 men to rub together there in the end... PS. Chuck and I are from the Chicago Area, so if there are any more Chicagoans, we could have our own section (other than Juha) and play "Pile on the Finn". Although, god help us if he wins... We would never hear the end of this. Sidebar: Hey, TB, why don't you group the sections by Geography ever? Would make playing TCP a hell of a lot easier, and PBEM would be smoother too. And, you would in essence have "mini-qualifiers" then based on location. Just an Ideer...
  5. In response to the statement below, buildings definitely do protect you from blast of bombs. I speak from personal experience, (in the game of course.) I'm 99% certain that this is false. The only thing that protects you from the blast factor of explosives is range, and the terrain that the affected unit is in. For example, a 300mm rocket round comes down on the opposite side of a ridge that your infs are on. They still get affected as if the range was the same, regardless of the intervening ridge. They are only protected by the cover that they're in. The important point is that blast factor only decreases (exponentially?) due to increasing range away from the impact/explosion point.</font>
  6. Hey, Kettler! Do you live in a house built on a graveyard like in Poltergeist? Maybe you should move out of that neighborhood with all this ****e going on? I would be outta there myself...
  7. I beg to differ. The tripod, the extra barrels and ammo are what separates a MG34/42 in the "heavy machine gun" role from the same weapon in a squad/LMG role. Now as to the purpose of this thread. Moving heavy weapons under fire is not, repeat NOT desirable. So, any scenario should be set up to reflect this. Either, the setup line should have suffcient fields of fire to the objective areas to simulate the preparation for the assault; or sufficient time should be allowed for them to be moved in to position. Now in the case of a QB, give yourself plenty of turns to move up and follow at least 100m behind your infantry and let them secure the fireline position. My 2 cents for what it's worth.
  8. He's searching for exact change for the fare; but, like the famous Colonel Bat Guano, they never carry loose change in combat....or, they may be Scottish.
  9. I have a German HMG team that just panicked in the last movie of a QB I am playing. I will watch to see what he does. I have not seen this problem yet, it is an attack and I am moving 12 HMG teams currently, but only a couple have been in danger so far....
  10. Now we will have to watch out for the "Slaver" sunflowers!!
  11. Try an infantry battalion's(9 total) grouped together and firing on a TRP....what firing delay??...
  12. Tanks don't hide and Charlie don't surf....when tanks hide, they shut down everything, smoke cigs and look at girlie mags in the FC. Did this in CMBO and still do now.
  13. Giving a shout out to TB/Mike8...haven't had any thing down our improvised pipeline for a bit...is there a blockage, or is something lost in the ether somewhere?
  14. artillery tractors that weren't modelled (reason unclear) that beat feet before the scenario(engagement)out of harm's way..
  15. "Chesty" Puller. Should I send you instructions on where to send my doll? Michael</font>
  16. As heard at "Frozen Chosun"..."Hell, no, we're not retreating!! We're just attacking in a different direction!" Name the Marine General for a Kewpie doll.
  17. An interesting disscussion indeed. One thing that comes to mind that may be able to reflect the behavior that some are seeking in the troops is the "fitness" rating. A unit could be of high quality troops, but "weakened" or "unfit", thereby giving some of the "sticky" qualities that have been seen in some veteran units. I am currently in a QB where the computer provided me with a Crack battalion of GJ in Finland. They are unfit however, so very fragile exhaustion wise and not easy to rally when broke. Since I am on the defensive, this is not a HUGE problem, but if I had been tasked with an attack with these men, it would have been very difficult in the least. One MG team went from fresh to exhausted just from sneaking 30m forward. It has recovered to tired now, after over 15 turns have passed. Just a thought on the subject.
  18. I saw this thread and thought I had fallen into the Battletech forum!.. Go Wolf Clan!!
  19. I think he is speaking about the fact that in CMBB units can be isolated and locked into position. I was doing Derg. Roadblock and isolated some Russians in the woods. When the setup for the 2nd phase came up, there were these little areas in my setup zone where I was not allowed to setup. Obviously, this was where the 'locked' Russians were, so I was able to setup a little "greeting" for them. Now, this was vs AI, so he didn't care, but any human would be crying their eyes out... Now, as to the matter of how to handle this, I don't know. You could make it that the side with the isolated units in their setup zone would not "see" the areas where the isolated units are, but that could lead to some weird situations..on the other hand, the way it is now, they are as good as dead...which perhaps they should be after being cut off; this is for better minds (and more responsible ones) to look into. But, the way it is now, the isolated units might as well be firing of flares and rockets during the setup phase while screaming at the top of their lungs!
  20. Well, I think that it is fine now. If I want the right side covered, I give max arc to the right. Then the right side is covered no matter how I move. In a chaotic situation( which should be avoided, BTW) why have the arc on? Then you would want the tank to engage anything and any thing. I would presume by chaotic that you would mean "tight" quarters. There, anything can hurt you.....boo! [ October 28, 2002, 02:51 AM: Message edited by: tabpub ]
  21. I have just received a note from the scenarios! To wit: "We, the CMBB Scenarios, being lovingly handmade by many intuitive and creative people, do protest the lack of play by more competent players. Our CMBO brethern assured us that there were such creatures in existance in the flesh world, but there have been so few in the last few weeks. Perhaps it is the current debate over the superiority of the Stug in 42-43 when the ground is firm and the snow is not present. Perhaps it is due to the complaints of troops breakdancing while under fire to the point of exhaustion. But, that would not be correct, as most of these debates are fanned by the same type of player that complains about scenario balance... Balance...what a word...if the real world took that approach, then police when apprehending a gun toting suspect, should give them the option to "slap leather", in the interest of fairness, no doubt. Sheesh..
  22. Because not only are they cheaper, 'restrictions' is the wrong word. The command bonuses really count for something in the leaders. I can't quantify stealth, combat, or morale, but the command bonus means that the command delay I have so far observed has been as little as one second. Michael</font>
  23. no, not a Dell. Medion...if you have heard of that one, you win a cookie...
