1.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael emrys: I suspect Sealion was more of a charade to pressure the UK into accepting terms. Michael

Which was eerily similar to Napoleon's Grand Armee sitting by Boulougne for nearly 2 years waiting for the English to give in (or waiting for the Franco Spanish fleet to gain the upper hand; wait, was that a flying pig?) Without a ironclad control of the sea, amphib operations are very risky. The Guadalcanal operation could have turned into a tragedy for the Americans, had 2 of the naval battles gone badly for them. Even then, it was certainly no walkover.
 2.
quote:
Originally posted by Juha Ahoniemi: Spanish Bombs and Tabpub: I hope You guys kept the Fog Of War about ROW! There is always a danger of information leak while knocking out beers...

 I don't remember that much, especially the last couple hours. We did go over the one scenario in our section that was completed by both of us, and it was resolved that the levels of victory reached by both of us would be about average. Which I was glad to hear, cuz I thought that I had gotten my butt beaten so bad that all the hair fell out, which would have meant my honorary UberFinn membership would have been revoked... I think that I am still a little hung over here, I think Rune and Berlislipped me a mickey.
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by rune: Some one bring a laptop and Rob, try to make it if you can. Trust me, it will be worth it. Rune

Damn the CONE OF SILENCE! Damn it to hell!!!
 4. There were 7 of us(how magnificent) and there were no pictures taken as one of us is a bit camera shy and wanted no evidence that he/she is still alive. Damn, let that cat out of the bag. How many will suffer from that slip....oh, and it was agreed that 30-40 percent of the people that regularly post here need help; yours truly defintilyl included. sorry, too much pilsmer druken tongiht. I would hat e to think that some would tink I am the iron chiekf. [ 10-29-2001: Message edited by: tabpub ]

 5. I believe that the "Blond Knight" he refers to is Richtofen. Somehow, WWI has bled in to the WW2 continuum. I fear the ramifications of this. Perhaps the Chef will correct this imbalance.
 6. Ok, I'll wear my Aussie hat. But please don't beat me up, I am not Aussie, just like the cool hat....
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by fytinghellfish: RAM sounds really familiar.. ok.. let's plan on that place at, what, 6pm? Not too early, not too late? It's right off of 355/Rte 53, right?

So is this the time and place? I will try to be there. Hope I am not alone and holding a beer by myself....
 8. Friday the 26th is my game night. I would skip, but we are playing Battleground miniatures. It is our Bulge campaign, first major engagement at Stavelot, and I am the American commander. Plus, based on the responses, I would have to say that the geographic center would trend further north than my bars' location in Richton Park. The following Friday or Sat the 27th may be better, but that would just be me. You know, Hellfish, you could just go ahead and pick the date and place(NW it would seem) and post it. Otherwise, the only other thing would be an email poll for everyones open dates, correlate the date that has the most hits and pick that one.
 9. Saturdays for the next 2 weeks are bad for me also. Make that 3 weeks. Sundays are always good, since the Bears are not that good again  or the odd Friday(miniatures every other Friday.) I gave away my old laptop, wouldn't handle CM anyway.
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by easy-v: And here I thought I was the only south sider on the board... Where at? I grew up in Oak Forest/Tinley Park

Orland Park, all the way. Go Eagles!!!
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by xerxes: Germans don't have a wasp equivalent. -marc

What about Flammpanzer III or Flamhetzer? Or is the price too high for these?
 12. Hell, I run a bar in the south suburbs and I would recommend that location. Big screen tv too. Have to be before the end of Oct. I am leaving the business to pursue other, more meaningful ventures.
 13. How about the AAR scoring? No gripes? Treeburst155 out.[/QB]
 14. All that I get from this is that I will REFUSE to play as a Soviet vs Finn in CMBB  My ego couldn't stand it.
 15. I thought the "sneak" command covered the "don't fire til you're done moving, unless the bad guys spot you and then fire back routine". Back to the ozone...
 16. Being from the Chicagoland area, I hereby invoke the "Mayor Richard J. Daley Rule". Anyone who does not respond with a vote will be considered "dead" and I get to vote for them.
 17. Looking for player in Group 3 that is available for start. My current 2 games have passed the mid point and I would like to pick up one at this point. Anyone?
 18. Here I come again to ask a question. So after all the formulating is done and the "three wise men" are selected how is the final done. I would assume that they would play the other 2 in one battle each. Would they same scoring system be used? If so, could you use the median again with such a small sample to work with? Or, would the final scenarios be "balanced" so that the scoring system would not be needed? I know that the finals are "way in the future", but perhaps this is the time to discuss and address this.
 19. Personally, I hadn't reckoned on this degree of responsivness, but it is appreciated. Originally, I was just concerned about the "linear" nature of the original proposal. This has been addressed quite well in my opinion. Thanks to Nabla and Treeburst for all the time and effort that they have put into this system. I think that we will all be happy in the end. God knows that I may need this in one scenario, cuz I may be a "bit" under the median in that one it appears.
 20. I am the defender. It is operation "Drive to Mortain" 2nd battle. I had foxholes for the first battle, now none. Makes my AT assets feel naked, with just bocage to hide behind.
 21. Treeburst: Keep us all in the dark please. The sun hurts  Plus it gives all you "behind the scenes" types that have made this possible something of their own; an opportunity to kibitz among yourselves about results, AAR's, etc. Also, do you want the final map included with the AAR? It may provide some extra "flavor" to the written report.
 22. I have just done 2 of those three. Squads were split during setup. On first turn, changed mind(no, I am not Blonde)Moved one half to the other and ordered it to hide.Non-moving was already hiding. Movement dot was placed on top of non-mover. At beginning next turn, they were one again and hiding. No foxhole was involved, though. That was the reason they had been split in the first place, to generate extra foxhole for 2nd line of defense in Operation. Damn thing was, it didn't give me any. Guess I lost too much ground in the first battle and didn't have time to dig when we "advanced to the rear"
 23. Actually, as the dialog button says,"Secretly prepare for a Cease-Fire?". I would never ask for one, just enter it and hope that your opponent does the same; other wise, just fight it out.
 24. I would wait until at least the VL's were showing your flag until accepting. Even that is no guarantee, he could have hidden units near the flag to contest it.
