  4. I have had very good luck by reversing as soon as I notice a vechicle bogged. So far only 1 in five has remained bogged. Usually in a spot where it cann't see or fire.
  5. Light tank. That's an oxymoron isn't it? The best light tank is one that is still running and shooting at the end of the battle. If you are going to hit mediums, then you want something with punch, or something that runs like a rabbit. So, either the M25 Chaffee, or the M5 Stuart. German light tanks were too much into the scout range or infantry support role, in my opinion.

  8. This does not answer the issue of Rave support in OS X or OS X Classic. This is a translation device from DirectX to Rave. So it doesn't really help the limited support of RAVE in OS X and Classic. Or so I understood from posting by BTS and the review on the product mentioned.

  11. As a general question, should the tree bases change to roads, or wheat fields when you view them from different angles? Or is this just a manifestation of a corrupted mod file?
  12. Let me guess, your IP that you get from WINIPDFG is a 10.xxx.xxx.xxx number. Or it is a 198.xxx.xxx.xxx number. If so that means that you are using NAT. Your ISP is giving you an internal network number and translating that at thier location. You are behind their firewall. Use the IP number that you get externally from the other web site. That is what the world sees you as, not your internal IP number.
  13. Having to rely on those soft squishy thingies usually causes a feeling of abandonment to the tank. They have little staying power, need lots of help. Most tankers will prefer to leave what they think might become a coffin, or a toaster. Very dedicated, very veteran crews will continue to fight on. See discriptions of some of the tank crews in the Yom Kippur war. A few tank crews fought their tanks even after several hits form tank rounds or SS-11 rockets. If you only had Boleros (Continental Siege Units of at least Mark IV). Those will keep on fighting until you drain the hydraulic fluid and disconnect the power source.

  15. As a suggestion, in your pure 9.2.2 partition, make a location that includes only the extensions you want to have enabled for game play. I have found that that seems to work best for me. Doubly so since I also dabble with SkyFighters 1945, a WWII air sim game. Ah, mes infants, you do not know the pleasure of the TRS-80 and its whopping big 4 KB of RAM. I quickly upgraded to an Apple II+.

  18. All of the descriptive talk of combined arms and how to apply them is correct. When you say that you do that, but your troops are still decimated, brings the following to mind. You have to isolate the area that you are going to attack. Then you have to attack it with overwhelming superior force. That means, if your opponent can shoot you from your flanks, or that his firepower to your attack front is greater, then you haven't (1) isolated the area, or (2) selected and area you can apply superior force. That often means catching his attention in his front while attacking his flank. Attack and defeat what you can. Allow your opponent no opportunity for an even fight. Try to mass superior firepower and keep it coming until you are there. Don't let him shoot at you. And again, like you have said you found out, it is harder to do than it is to talk about.

  20. I cannot open, or see in the senario screen for that matter, any scenario with a .cmc extension. What is this extension? Why can't I see the files. I have tried using both Mac OS 9.2.2 and Windows 98SE.
  21. Go to the PowerLogix web site and download their G3/G4 Cache management tool. Then disable speculative Access.
  22. If I remember correctly some mortars have a firing mechanism. I think that the U.S. 4.2-inch mortar can be fired in this manner. Most are fired by dropping the round down the barrel, the round's propellent being ignited on contact with the firing pin in the base of the mortar tube.

It's hard enough to call artillery if you are an infantryman, inside a tank it's much harder. The Russians didn't have the radio nets, procedure, or training to do so. The Germans would pretty much not have the procedure, though some might have the training. After all, to call in artillery, in other than pre-plotted locations, you have to be able to have the battery register you location. Pre-planned arty would be the best and most logical way that tankers could call in arty, and then why not infantry in the same vein? An by the way Pillar, the Roman legios never defeated a Greek phalanx head-to-head. They only won when the phalanx was disrupted, either through terrain, or by being attacked in the flank or rear.
