One British module down, one to go......
Erwin replied to Sakai007's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
That does sound awful. Hope you can relax over Xmas. -
Lovely. Hoiwever, maybe it's just me but looks a bit too faded. Maybe a little more contrast or dark bits to sim the effects of sun and shadow?
-
Yes, thank you for all your work.

Bada boom... Actually, this site could do with a comedy forum to lighten up what is too often frighteningly serious chatter. -
Nice to have good tactics summarized so concisely. Making the attacker waste time (rather than trying too hard to kill him) is often the best strategy of all.

CMBN vs. APOS, and the future of CMx2(?).

Re Panzer Elite, it was a superb game/sim for its day. But, buggy as hell. You had to be a part-time programmer to make it work right especially when using the otherwise xnt. mods. It was also a resource hog. I still have the Special Edition and always planned to load it up again one day. But, who knows if it will even run on Win7. -
You have no idea how well I can screw "it's so easy" technology up, Mord...

"Once the units "realize" they are in the church tower, they won't go back onto the bridge." This could be great for the CM:Zombies module! -
Looking forward to a new Campaign!

IIRC the FBI were looking at a govt researcher at a secure chem weapons plant, but had a hard time getting proof. I can't recall exactly his fate... He may have been "suicided."

I 2nd the choice of JOINT VENTURE. Great scenario. -
"My question is will the troops move faster than a "Normal" move the next turn, moving till exhaustion? If I leave things alone will the tired troops automatically slow down to the speed of a "Normal" move until reaching a Ready status and then move again "Fast" until they're Tired again? Should I cancel the Fast moves and re-plot the moves using normal speed?" Sorry nobody actually answered your question, as I'd be interested as well. I guess we just have to try it...

Occasionally I have had teams get split by a hedge/bocage and one guy gets lost someplace. Last time it was a 75mm gun crew. The gun set up with 2 guys while the third was on the other side of a hedge and slowly ambled his way around.

"They" do say the insane are blessed by the Gods(?) Not sure who "they" are or why it doesn't seem to work for me, but glad you are doing this wonderful work. Between you and Aris, CMBN is starting to look quite decent... -
Well since one often can have multiple arty strikes being called at the same time, I would like to hear them identified so I know which ones are at what stage of prep. And definitely, I want the AI to recognize me and use my name. (But, I'll settle if the game uses my name in all modules automatically.)

Same thing if you use the "French Pig Farmer with Pitchfork" mod - he will stab them to death.

Spotting and Denied at thew same time?
Erwin replied to BadgerDog's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
IIRC within a spotting unit, whether an HQ or FO, there is only one guy who actually knows how to do the job. If that particular man is OOA, that unit can no longer spot for arty. (Also, if he happens to be an actual platoon leader, that platoon no longer has any C2 to its HQ.) The bug is that if the spotter man is OOA and an arty call that he made is in progress, there is no way to cancel the strike. -

I tried an Achtung Panzer demo a while back, but for some reason I found it very hard to learn or operate the UI. Possibly the AP UI system was so alien after ten+ years of CM that I couldn't get a handle on how to efficiently control the troops. But, it does look good. I agree with daisy, the learning curve seemed very steep. -
I enjoy always taking care of my WIA (that really should count for scoring purposes although I know it doesn't currently). But, it's sometimes hard to spot them. You know the squad shows a WIA/KIA but try as I might to examine the ground, there's always at least one poor blighter in every game who cannot be located. Wish there was a marker one could activate - like the one that shows you where your mouse cursor is when you press Cntrl - which would easily show you where the WIA/KIA are lying.

You are a true perfectionist LLF... I feel sorry for you. But, keep up the great work! -
"Vocal Reinforcements announcement" If done "realistically" like a report to (you) the CO, that's a great idea.
