I find it quite common to split off an AT team and find they have less AT capability (if any) than what is left in the squad. IIRC it happens mostly with the larger German squads of 9+ guys. The other points have been mentioned many times. -
You may be correct. But, we won't really know for many years if a Sunni-majority Iraq will be stable. If we could get some oil out of Syria, the "international community" would already be liberating the place. Unless there is profit to made, history shows that there has to be genocide showing up on western TV screens to get any IC action. If there were some ME strategic advantage to be gained, that would also be a possible motive for intervention. Going in just cos some tinpot dictator wants to kill off a few thou of his citizens... unlikely.

Knowing in what context you can use RL tactics to achieve RL outcomes in CM and when the game system is not realistic and where one has to "game the system" comes from experience. AFAIK CM2 is the most "realistic" game of its genre commercially available.

So long as the designer realizes that allowing preset bombardment can make things a lot easier for the user that is fine. I find that by presetting bombardment usually LIGHT and LONG with 15 minute delay on likely enemy positions out of LOS at the start one can get recon to confirm if there actually are enemy units there by then. If not, it seems to be faster and MORE ACCURATE to adjust that preplanned bombardment to another target. That target does not have to be in LOS of the FO at that time either. It takes a few minutes to readjust, so as long as the new target is at a location that one can move the FO to a location where he has LOS to the new target area by the time spotting rounds come down, it seems to result in an accurate strike. This technique has been a very efficient method of killing enemy TD's in every mission of ABR campaign. -

If others are experiencing the same thing, it could be the sister issue to the excessive bogging/immobilization phenomenon that seems to occur in the strip between road and offroad. -

I played the demo of SCGS, but it just doesn't have the verisimilitude of Grigsby's East Front and Pacific War games... you know... like Panzer General (recently rereleased under a new name) SCGS is one unit per hex regardless, that sort of abstraction. I do like the economic and tech development aspect. But, it's much more complex than (say) TOTAL WAR - ROME with less entertainment payoff imo.

There a LOT of mods out there, and people have different tastes. However, ARIS has accomplished the impressive task of modding ALL the CMBN vehicles and guns, and terrain. So start there. Also look at VEIN's mods to improve fire, smoke, muzzle blast effects etc. While there are many more xnt mods available, downloading and installing mods by the two above will keep you busy for quite a while.

The trouble with real life manuals is that they don't always work in an entertainment game product. In the CM series, including CM2 games you have to become experienced enuff to "play the game system" which is not the same as RL.

It's a question that's puzzled me too. If 7.62 is the standard round, why is every ammo resupply source only loaded with the AP variant (and nothing for the StG44 at all other than in bunkers)? Reality check plz.
