  1. I have to say that this is one of the best wargames I've ever played. I logged a ****ton of hours in the original CM:BO and have played every iteration of Combat Mission ever released and this is, in my book, the best one yet. I dont really have any major UI gripes and I find the action to be comparatively easy to follow and any confusion that arises feels just like what you would expect in a real combat situation. I still remember seeing a preview of CM:BO and the excitement it generated in me, and this game really brings the game series full circle for me. I will spend many hours wuth this game, and it will get patched and extended, but for a first iteration, CM: BfN is pure gold to me. A brilliant gem and worthy of both my time and money.
  2. Firstly, awesome demo. Realy liking the look, feel and sound of BfN. This is going to be one massive game. Secondly, I was a bit worried that my MacBook (2008) wasn't up up for the task, but the Busting the Bocage tutorial ran smooth as silk, no issues or stutter at all. I cranked all details up and used AA as well, so it looked really nice.
  3. What, you want me to post pictures of it? Pervert.
  4. Oh God, Homeworld. It has got to be the best game ever. [/RandomInterjection]
  5. Yeah, most probably. I was a bit surprised by this.
  6. Well, I messed up the assault on the town. One question though after watching one of my assaults on a house; do Red infantrymen have the ability to use hand grenades Kamikaze-style, or did I just watch my boys pick off an enemy soldier with an live grenade in his hand? A panicked Syrian ran into my support squad, and he sort of... blew up when they shot him. Took for of my lads with him.
  7. Haven't gotten around to it yet unfortunately, but I will soon.
  8. TheVulture, Excellent AAR, as always. What symbols are you using for your screenshots? Seems very handy.
  9. Just started up the first mission of this campaign last night, and my boys had driven the enemy off the trenches near the tank on the hill (can't remember the objective name) when I had to go to sleep. Looking good so far, and I can't wait to get back in it tonight.
  10. No matter what I try, I can't log on to the main site with my old account. I registered a new account, but no dice. It always alerts me that I've supplied an invalid compination of username/password. So I can't get any files off of the repo.
  11. Just for the record, I really enjoy your input at at least one other place. So as far as I', concerned, I'd love to see you both here and there.
  12. Was quite easy to get it to run in all honesty. If I rememeber correctly I only had to set my locale to US (I'm in Europe) and the Boot Camp drivers worked in Win 7. Installing W7 wasn't any problem at all.
  13. Running it on Win 7 on my MacBook. Works very well.
  14. You know, BF really confuses me sometimes. You make good games, but I just don't get you.
  15. Indeed, I am firmly in the WW2 fold for both technological and political reasons, but I'm still sucked in by the brilliant execution of CMSF and its modules. When the evolved version of this engine is released with a WW2 back drop, I think I will have to resign from work and spend my time playing instead.
  16. Again, I think a few more illustrated AAR type examples could be very useful to new players. Various types of attack and defence, MOUT, etc just to cover the bases. They certainly wouldn't all have to be successfully played out as long as they are accompanied by reflective text describing various options available in the described scenario and some elaboration on those options. That would, IMO, go a long way in explaining how it all fits together. Great work so far.
  17. Seen that as well. As the gunner deployed the MG it suddenly appeared on the ground while the gunner remained on the balcony.
  18. Not a very surprising statistic to be honest. Good job on the videos! Loved watching them. Any chances of you moving on to the Marines or British Forces modules?
  19. Well, if that didn't kill your CMSF related creativity, nothing will!
  20. Indeed, exports shouldn't be hard to provide either, but I need a bit more meat on the bones before trying to implement any idea put forth here. I would love to see the existing excel efforts or at least get some more detail on the idea behind them.
  21. Setting up a website to use instead of an excelsheet for this kind of work shouldnt be too hard. You could even support templating using xml for custom point schems. Id give it a try if an idea can be agreed upon.
