1. I for one would very much like a campaign element in the game. It would add a great deal to the immersion factor and as long as nothing is changed about the way the game handles the actual combat, the realism factor will still be on the same high level it is today. All I want is the occasional medal, promotion and even demotion. No levels, no winning the war with one battallion, just a series of linked scenarios where the computer keeps track of my score and rewards me when I do something right and punishes me for doing wrong. A well designed campaign can really make the player feel like a small part of something monumentaly huge, and that is not only great fun, it's also highly realistic.
2. What's the difference between the manuals? What sections are missing in the CDV version and what di I have to do in order to get the rel, US version?
3. My grandfather fought in the Finnish Army wich is kind of the Eastern Front I suppose.
4. I have started to make an operation called "Road to Portinhoikka", which has 4.5*3.6km map (area between Leitimonjärvi and Portinhoikka). It will model the 5 hour battle which took place there 25.6.1944. It will be the first operation in my (hopefully) forthcoming `Tali-Ihantala series´. Real maps and formations are used, but the basic problem is how I succesfully scale down the number of units involved. Fe in this operation historic amount of Soviet troops (fe. Guard inf rgmnt, 3 tank coys etc.) would mean none less than 19,500pts!
5. Sinve we have so many Finns in this thread I might as well ask; is anyone of you working on some more Finnish scenarios? I simply love the Finnish side of CMBB. If I ever find the patience to sit down and actually use the editor I might try doing some scenarios based on my grandfathers experiences with JR4.
6. That's exactlly what I've done in the new version of my webpage. As soon as I get the time I will upload it. Great work with your own page btw! Very infornative and interesting.
7. Sardaukar, I'm the webmaster of finnishwar.cjb.net and I can confirm that there are some errors on the page. Unfortunately I haven't had time to update it for a while, but I have a whole new version of the entire website on my HD. I will get it up ASAP and coeect the errors on the rank page.
8. We less fortunate Europeans haven't even got the game yet.
9. I don't know which retailers will carry the game in Sweden, but if you got a credit card head over to www.duchet.com. God prices and excellent service. I highly recomend them.
10. Hej! If I have understood corrctly, all of the countries supplied by CDV will have the politically correct, historicaly inaccurate version of the game. It sucks but it beats not having the game at all. Adjö!
11. Well, not a biggie really, but I have some problems with the mouse in the meny systems. Sometimes it takes awfully long for the game to "register" my clicks. If I click on an option it can sometimes take as long as 30 seconds before the game registers it and performs the action. Within the game itself everything is fine, the problem only occurs in the meny system, and I've only experienced it with SC. 12. It's almost 3 AM over here in Sweden and I'm downloading this baby as I speak. Looking forward to a night of pure passion with SC. P.S. Thank God I have the week of. ~Henric Edwards
13. Patgod, I just thought that I should mention that I have visited Skalman.nu (the website you linked to), for little over a year now. In fact, I'm a moderator on the Swedish forum over there and consequently I know the webmaster Marcus Wendel quite well even though I've never met him in person. I just wanted to point out that he is most certainly no nazi, and if you guys haven't visited his site, you should, since it holds a great deal of information on the Third Reich. Just thought I should mention it, that's all.
14. Slapdragon, Thanks! Looking forward to it. Would be a sad thing indeed if I let my grandfathers stories pass away with him. I've got some pretty amazing stuff from him this far. It's hard to believe what he has lived through. ~Henric Edwards
15. Slapdragon, I'm very interested in that. Please send to: edwards@mail14.calypso.net Regards ~Henric Edwards
16. I've got some stories my grandfather told me about his time in the Finnish army fighting the russians in the Svir area. I've got them on tape and written down. If anyone's interested, give me a shout and I'll slapp em up. ~Henric Edwards
17. Doesn't seem to work. All I see is code. Love your Shoot to Kill guide BTW. Got me out of all sorts of trouble.
18. Hey, isn't WAV file 00001091 from the movie "Kelly's Heroes"? It sounds like Telly Savalas saying: "We've walked into a minefield".
19. I read in Anthony Beevors 'Stalingrad' that Zaitsev experimented with mounting his scope on a anti-tank piece in order to fire shells through the slits of german bunkers. Aparently the charges in the shells weren't good enough for any precision shooting.
20.
quote:
But I think that a lot of Americans get angry when confronted by this friendly banter, and don't understand that the response is to laugh like hell and fire back about stupid European phones that go 'squeek sqeek" or 'blat blat' and how you can't find a decent-sized icecube in the entire country.

What does American phones sound like? And how big are your ice-qubes?
21.
quote:
Well, does that mean you're only half done?

lol A half-wit??
22.
quote:
Swedes? Who cares about the Swedes -- it's the Finns ya gots to look out for. They are some Bad Muthaf*ckers. How do I know? Just look at their wallets. They're the ones that say "Bad Muthaf*cker" on them.

Well get this then: I'm half finnish!! Muahahahahahaha
23.
quote:
Ill second that, we even build a bridge to them arrrrhhh. Now where is that dynamite !!!

I'll help you with that. Only reason WE built that stinkin' bridge was easier access to your beer. Turns out it's actually more expensive taking the darn bridge than it is by ferry!!!
