Concrete bunker mod part 2
Peter Panzer replied to Tanks a Lot's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)

quote:
I'm currently "winterizing" my large buildings.

...that sounds tasty as well.
quote:
Did you ever grab Pud's roads.

...yes, thanks for the heads-up. a cut above the stock versions to be sure, however they fail to cater to my fussy, indulgent predilections - especially when one takes a gander at what is currently coming out of the works. in terms of concrete/pavement/stone, tanksalot and juju have raised the bar considerably... -
Concrete bunker mod part 2
Peter Panzer replied to Tanks a Lot's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
...gee folks, ya'll reckon this guy knows how to convincingly render concrete? slick, tanksalot. ...would you consider applying your skills toward the paved road .bmp's? seeing as both you and juju have heightened the quality of the pavement, as well as the heavy, stone structures, the current road textures have a rather limp-wristed air... -

quote:
, dont bogart that thing, thas' right, passss it over to meee again. Then rollllll another one, jus like the other one, and pass it over to me.

...well now my friend, loose a few more blatant dope references and you may just convince me... -
MAJOR MOD ANNOUNCEMENT!!: Pavement!!
Peter Panzer replied to Juju's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)

quote:
I'll mail you the rooftiles if you want.

...thanks for coming through juju. ...the darker, irregular pattern does the trick for me. the other, "1201," i believe, looked rather sterile and underdeveloped after a closer look.... your pavement, however looks rather swell. -

Another COMBAT MISSIONS Update!
Peter Panzer replied to Manx's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
...any chance we may also see mike8g's U.S. tank destroyers? -
...in reference to mike8g:
quote:
...I really don't know if I should make this mod public.

...put them up, good fellow - they are easily the best available to date. the M-10 is a definite piece of solid work. ...on a sidebar, why didn't you ever complete the gunshield texture for the SdKfz/7 (37mmm variant)? forget or too lazy?

It's beginning to look a lot like winter
Peter Panzer replied to Tanks a Lot's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)

Make Up This Sound Mod from Band of Brothers.

...yes, a new armor penetration effect would be rather welcome... -
…monkey tits? …one tool you may wish to explore in depth is the scenario editor supplied with the game. Seeing as I pack more particulars and tend to drive a harder bargain in terms of accuracy than most, I rely upon it exclusively in order to weave matters just so. In fact, you too may find scenario design to be as much fun as actually playing out the engagements. …gather resources and set to work. british airborne at arnhem – got a masochistic streak, eh? may I suggest you begin with the ubiquitous primer on the subject “a bridge too far.” which, by the way offers a wonderfully detailed drawing of the immediate environs around the arnhem bridge…

quote:
Display control panel > GeForce tab (may not be present) or > Settings tab > Advanced button > GeForce tab or DirectX tab

...yup, already looked there. nothing. perhaps it may be best if i goof with this driver when i have a bit more time. ...thank you for your tips, i greatly appreciate them - with any luck, this will not become overly messy. ...again, my thanks. -

...alright then. ..i'll let rip with the 7.58 whql version and see what breaks... incidentally, how do i know if fsaa is enabled? i checked the device manager and the display settings, but alas... thanks... -
...i have an asus v7700 geforce2 gts card (directx 7, nvidia 6.50 driver) plopped into my machine - while it handles CM just fine, it seems as though every other title i attempt to play is distorted. to be specific, the image on the screen is drastically off-center and oftentimes appears with a 3 inch black border around the edge of the screen (diablo II, soldier of fortune are two examples...). is this the result of having to exclusively use the antiquated nvidia drivers for combat mission ("above" 6.50 is asking for trouble, right?)? does anybody have any thoughts on how i can correct this problem?

New buildings to destroy
Peter Panzer replied to Tanks a Lot's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
...tanks a lot... ...i've been slugging it out against "Old Hickory" at mortain for about a week now and i must say, your buildings hit the spot. ...a pleasure, thank you. ...also, have you considered repainting the stone wall and the various bridges? it seems as if either would play to your strengths, so, why not? New buildings to destroy
Peter Panzer replied to Tanks a Lot's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
...if I may be so bold - some food for thought... ...formally speaking, the white flag, although wonderful in its conception, loses its potential due to a fitful lack of dynamism and perspective, as a result, it looks rather silly in comparison to the remainder of the building – seemingly an afterthought at best (please, note hanns’s sound point regarding the specious number which would appear). also, do you plan to add any weathering effects to the shutters/window frames? at this point, they read as overly clean/stylized, which I am assuming you would like to minimize as much as the models will allow... ...aside from that bit of carping, the soot above the broken window, as well as the nazi poster are fantastic nuances, both welcome and well executed. what’s more, I especially admire the way you have been rendering impact/scorch marks from the early going (your small building textures set a new standard in regard to repainting structures)... ...will you be issuing winter versions at some point? your work shows a good deal of promise. not only that, it is refreshing to see somebody attempt to squeeze as much vitality as possible from the 2D surfaces, even if some of the endeavors are less than convincing. I will be sure to keep my eye out for the completed versions... [ 08-13-2001: Message edited by: Peter Panzer ] -

quote:
...the 116th Panzer Division was one of the relatively rare German armored formations that fought exclusively on the Western Front.

...my ass. the 116th division was actually a rather old and highly successful unit - it simply received a new designation when it was shifted to the western front... ...known to the russians in 1943 as the 16th panzergrenadier division, the division was led by count gerhard von schwerin, who was only the third wehrmacht general to receive the knight's cross with oak leaves/swords... ...within a short period, the unit proved itself capable of chopping up ivan with tremendous verve and tenacity, eventually earning the moniker of "greyhound division..." ...apparently, they weren't too bad at grinding up brits and yanks either. initially rated as an "average" division by allied intelligence, the 116th would be upgraded to "superior" within thirty days of the normandy landings... ...the mech troops/tankers of the 116th were some hard-nosed sons of bitches to be sure, worthy of a good look-see, however, it seems as though the well-intentioned authors of the aforementioned book may have fumbled early...
