Preview-Feldgrau Heer & Waffen SS uniform mod
Peter Panzer replied to AndrewTF's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
...speaking of tom... ...he unveiled some genuinely tastey work(Sdkfz7 - mike8g, barbed wire - ?, mine posts - tiger, grass - tom), some of which he noted would be available within "a few days" time - that was last week. no sign thus far of said treats... ...tsk, tsk, tom - in the future, please don't tease the monkey(s), it's oh so impolite... get your name in my scenario!(maybe)
Peter Panzer replied to russellmz's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
...may i be assigned the role of the coquettish, young milkmaid? please do not omit the urn of thick, white cream - details are critical in a scenario such as this. thanks. -

off-map grass switcheroo
Peter Panzer replied to Peter Panzer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
thanks busboy, i hope your wrong ... -
...damn fellas, now, just the other day i saw a bit about changing the off-map "infinity grass" .bmp in order to make it similiar in color to the on-map grass - can't find it again to save my life. so, anyone care to bail me out? which .bmp do i use to "switch out" the original light green background in order to make it resemble the on-map grass (dd's, hi res)? just looking for a spot of continuity... thanks...

sound effects question
Peter Panzer replied to Peter Panzer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
...thanks maximus, i found a "map," which should be quite a help... too bad about the generic sounds - distinct effects for each weapon would have been a big plus in the realism column... -
does cm model each weapon with its own distinctive sound or is each effect generated from a generic pool (something along the lines of: effects 1-5 are all "rifle" sounds, 6-10 are all "sub-machine guns" - regardless of what type of rifle or smg is being employed)? ***has anybody produced a list of which weapon/event each wav represents?*** i ask because i have noticed that the sound effects for my american rifle squads and german squads are "shared." surely this is the result of something i have done, right?

M4's, rectal probes and me
Peter Panzer replied to Peter Panzer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
andrew: ...you may have solved the mystery - yes, the tanks were moving out from their staging areas on the extreme edge of the map...quite possible. r leet: good information, however the scale setting was on "realistic." alright, maybe there was just a wee bit o' bourbon flowing thanks for the input fellas... M4's, rectal probes and me
Peter Panzer replied to Peter Panzer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
r leet ...perhaps you have a point, although i did give the area of the map what i believed to be a relatively good going over... (...i haven't played the game enough to know this for certain, but i thought troops and vehicles were not "permitted" to occupy the same space...) at any rate, i have already deleted the offending game and am looking forward to going at it once more. i reckon the sheer oddity of the situation made me curious as to whether or not anybody else had experienced any bizarre goings on... -
...the following account was, in no way, influenced by drugs/alcohol... my own scenario: a pair of M4's are attempting to quickly ("fast move") make their way across the reverse slope of a lightly wooded hill. without a cause for concern, i check the progress of two infantry platoons finding their own paths on different portions of the map. when i returned to view the progress of the tank duo, one of them had vanished! gone, without a trace... puzzled as to where my support had wandered off to, i turned the unit bases "on" and elevated the perspective so as to look at a wide section of the map. absolutely nothing. ...so, is this a known glitch/fault within the game (if so, how often does it occur?) or evidence of a sinister alien plot?
