1. I seem to have that version too. In the most recent wish list of commands I added one for a low ROF for main guns so they don't waste all their ammo in 2 turns like Stugs tend to do. Especially at range where they're not likely to do much damage.
 2. I didn't like the mention of the Panther 4s either.
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Kingfish: Ever since I first installed the game I have played hundreds of QBs. Most I've generated myself, but a good portion have been sent to me for PBEM matches. Every possible setting I have seen: Clear, rain, dry, wet, day night, rural, city, 300 pt thru 5,000 pt, June thru may. In all those games I have yet to see a GB unit, and others have posted similar experiences. Any reason why the computer doesn't choose these units?

Perhaps the AI chooses units based on rarity. That could explain it since GBs really only fought in 1 major battle in the west.
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by jshandorf: Pretty typical... Get an interesting topic going and you can expect it to be hijacked by some grogs who take it kicking and screaming down some dark, boring corridor filled with big german words that refer to "metal skirts". Bah. Jeff

If schurzen is such a big word why is "metal skirts" taking up more space?
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by PzKpfw 1: Yes the Ausf.G had schrurtzen, they had to have them to operate in the East. No idea why it's not modeled in CM. Regards, John Waters [ 07-11-2001: Message edited by: PzKpfw 1 ]

Jagdpanthers had them too, but the CM vehicles lack them. I want them put on because I want to make a mod of an airbrushed model I have at home. Unfortunately without the Schurzen there isn't a whole lot of side surface area to play with. It nearly doubles the paintable area on the side.
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Gen-x87H: panzerwerfer42: Where in minnesota are you from? Gen

Roseville. There seems to be quite a few Minneappolis residents on this board in proportion to it's size. [ 07-11-2001: Message edited by: panzerwerfer42 ]
 7. I saw one at Fort Snelling in Minneappolis that had a Sherman, a Stug, a 251/1 and a Kubel. That one was pretty cool because they had a ton of artilllery simulators. The Stug also shot blanks, which was even louder. It KO'd the Sherman of course.
 8.
quote:
Originally posted by Maximus: Yes, processor speed is probably your best bet. Of course having at least 256 MB of fast RAM probably doesn't hurt either. By fast RAM I mean, at least PC133 SDRAM or better such as DDR. But upgrading from a Celeron 433 to a 1.2 GHz Athlon, there is a world of difference is both graphic processing and turn processing.

Hehe, I recently upgraded from 100 mhz P1 to 1.2 ghz Athlon. That first piece of crap doesn't even come close to being able to run CM
 9. Is that the one that had two .50s and a 37mm gun? That one has a lot of fun potential. [ 07-11-2001: Message edited by: panzerwerfer42 ]
 10. Welcome to the best days of your life. My copy took only a few days to get to Minnesota, but it probably varies wildly.
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by John Kettler: Having just watched "The Guns of World War II: U.S." on the U.S. History Channel, during which I saw some remarkable interviews and firing demonstrations, I'd like to ask whether CMBO models the reported on the show standard use of .30 cal. AP instead of ball with the BAR? The footage showed a BAR eating a hole right through a typical farmyard stone fence. There was also footage of a .30 cal. water cooled MG chopping down a tree whose trunk was nearly a foot in diameter.

Though I really wouldn't care to be hit by either round, the type of ammo isn't going to make much difference on the firepower. Therefore it's probably not modeled. The scale of wounds is likely outside the scope of the game. Most guns of all calibers are capable of punching a hole straight through a tree. In fact many rounds will penetrate 100 inches of wood. Short of pillbox thickness, your average concrete wall isn't gonna do much to stop a 30.-06 round either.
 12. The only thing that would happen is a bunch of units charging for the flags.
 13. Damned browser. I deleted the cache but somehow it must have saved the data somewhere else so it loaded up the old page that was updated yesterday. Guess I have to hit reload every time I want to see something.
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael Dorosh: I like the idea - how about if BTS ran the tournament using actual tournament style scenarios instead of crappy buy your own King Tiger Meeting Engagement Quick Battles?

Rugged Defense runs a couple of pretty nice tournaments. Unfortunately they've already been started. One is based on Fionns Short-75 rule, the other on Panther-76. They have rules restricting use of big artillery and the Sdkfz 7 Flak tracks are banned. . Maps are made by the guy in charge of each tournament and you have time to practice before the start of each round. They're really fun if you can get your opponent to send their damned turns.
 15. Am I missing something or is there not any news from the Scenario Zone up?
 16. 4). Tanks are actually pretty easy to stop for the reasons already mentioned. I've seen M1s moving at max speed stop dead within 20 feet. That's on dry pavement, but that's still pretty damn good.
 17. P-51s attacking tanks with rockets is a little odd too. I don't believe Rangers ever made a frontal beach assault like the movie shows. They scaled the cliffs of Point Du Hoc instead. There weren't any SS units near the Americans at the time this alledgedly took place. Das Reich arrived 2-3 weeks after the landings. Has anyone figured out what the vehicle the blows up the church tower is? The one that looks like a marder but has a semi covered top. I know some marders had a slightly covered top but none I can find match that thing.
 18.
quote:
Originally posted by Username: Since the US 81mm had an optional 'big bomb', I wonder if that was the load of choice? It would make some sense in the semi-direct fire mode. Lewis

I always wondered why the heavy rounds aren't represented in CM. That would probably make them as powerful as the 3".
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by Canadian biatch: I want to know if combat mission 2 will have all the countrys like canada, usa ,russia...I want to know because should i wait for it or get cm1??

Well, Canada, America, Britain, and the French never fought on the Eastern Front, so more than likely they will not be in. Get CMBO regardless, it truly is the best wargame ever.
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by PzKpfw 1: Are you refering to the M242 Bushmaster 25 mm on the Bradley? Regards, John Waters [ 07-09-2001: Message edited by: PzKpfw 1 ]

I suspect so, because the 30mm Gatling can defeat a T-72s armor, at least the rear and top.
 21.
quote:
Originally posted by Trooper: Out of interest, was the 20mm FlaK gun the same as those in the armored cars? NTM

Yep, it was. The PSW 234/1 was capable of AA fire, though it wasn't terribly effective in that role.
 22. Hey Gunnergoz, you got the grass background posted twice, the link to the 5th grass file leads to the background.
