  1. That moldy maggot Snickers managed to pull out a putrescent draw against me in Road to Moscow - those last 2 Stugs of his combined to cause over 50 infantry casualties and KO 4 T34's - how bleedin' gamey is THAT??! And to the rest of you I'm away for a week from tomorrow afternoon, so get your turns in now or forever hold your peices for a week. Go the All Blacks and France!
  2. Rubber is actually moderately hard to set on fire, and remember that the graphic os a tile being on fire does not mean the whole thing is a raging inferno. Indeed from the couple of large grass fires I've seen and been in there's very little fire at all in the middle - most of the flame is around the outside and propagating outwards. The heat in hte middle comes from larger bushes and roots that are still burning - you couldn't lie down on much of hte ground because there's always hot spots coming up, but it doesn't set boot soles on fire!
  3. Well I'm confused - the 2nd reply in the thread said that the spotter wasn't radio....so what's the big secret again??
  4. Better still send the turn to Battlefront so they can see what hte problem is - as described this is something that no-one other than them can answer, because everyone here only knows the "standard" answers and you've said that it's none of those.
  5. There's those sheep again...even if there's no challenge in the title any more
  6. So Lewis Carroll couldn't spell either?? Or perhaps he just didn't have peanut and chocolate candy bars? Sheesh - MG will be claiming literary genius too soon - except I don't think he can read words that long.
  7. Half tracks were normally used as armoured trucks able to get closer to enemy positions than normal ones, and hence allowing the infantry to get into a starting position faster. Fire support from HT's would normally only be used where the commander was pretty sure the enemy AT had been well and truly suppressed - try using them even for this against a Russian with a few ATR's and you're going to lose a lot of points very quickly!
  8. Mark's definition sounds much like what I expect - "beer & pretzel" games are always easy, but not all easy games are "beer & pretzel". One way to be beer & pretzel it also has to be relatively engaging on the surface but ultimately lacking as a simulation. Humorous games are also usually B&P (Wabbit Wampage, Awful Green things from Outer Space). For wargames tho, IMO it means a relatively shallow treatment of the subject suitable for entertainment for a little while.
  9. In what unit would this be measured? The time it takes for Goodale to return a turn? </font>
  10. The A-26 was still being used in Vietnam wasn't it?
  11. Hi - I last played SC under v1.02, and decided it was pretty much beer & pretzels. I've been reviewing the 1.07 changes and they look pretty good, but I was wondering if the nature of the game has changed significantly since 1.02 (as opposed to the details of gameplay)? Ta
  12. Campbell class DD's - Scot's chiefs Battle class DD's - various battles of course! Tribal class DD's - tribes (Maori, Zulu, ashanti, etc) Often a class would be named after the first boat, and then the others would have names on a theme - eg the Bangor class frigates were all named after towns, hte "Nwport class of old destroyers (ex-US "flush decks) were also named after towns - American ones, Rotherham class - all names beginning with R, "C" class - names beginning with C, etc. [ October 31, 2003, 04:48 PM: Message edited by: Stalin's Organ ]

  15. The old SSG "Rommel" game has a specilative OOB for Malta - 2 regiments each of the 7th & Folgore airdroped, and another 8 regiments of Italian infantry seaborne British 4 Infantry Brigades (3 have 2 bns, 1 has 3), Malta militia & HQ units amounting to another 4 brigades of relatively Green troops, and 2 large brigades of static garrison troops. Armour is provided by 2 small units from 7 RTR and 3rd Hussars but I don't know how large the units are supposed to be.
  16. Never mind the Canadians and their hand lotions - where's my turn maggot??!!  There's stil a few tanks left that can chuck some TNT about the place!
  17. How does use of WP sit with the Geneva Conventoin - then and now?
  18. Never a truer word. But back to the main topic - I reckon Uncle Senile doesn't have any mortal enemies because anyone old enough to remember him when he was anythign other than a rotund and harmless coot is now dead of old age.
  19. I don't think ewe should be throwing stones from inside that glass maggot case maggot!!  Down in these parts "tuping" is what boy sheep do to girl sheep who they love very much (just in case your daughter is reading this!!), and if ewe'r one is too fats then ewe should probably ensure it gets a better diet and more exercise! In any case I'm sure hte SPCA will have a few words to say to ewe!!!  [ October 23, 2003, 07:52 PM: Message edited by: Stalin's Organ ]

  21. Shouldn't these dudes really be the 4 horsemen of the Abockerlisp??
