HC ammo - how much does it penetrate ?
Stalin's Organ replied to Prinz Eugen's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Penetration of HC rounds is listed in the unit info screen the same as any other ammo. Lots of tanks carry both but especially those German ones armed with the 75L24. Hollow charge works better when it is NOT spinning. -
Infantry HQs in AT combat
Stalin's Organ replied to Scipio's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
If so, it isn't shown in the units stats. They can also not given to them in the editor. -
I have Sinned!
Stalin's Organ replied to J. C. Padooka's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
To upgrade to v 1.01 you need to load the German patch rather than the US one - it's about 68mb instead of .....8?? The extra is a bunch of BMP's that didn't make it into the German one. -
Infantry HQs in AT combat
Stalin's Organ replied to Scipio's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
HQ units can have AT weapons such as mines, molotovs and Pz-fausts. Often they are higher morale than their squads, and of course they ALWAYS get their command benefits! Plus they're more men than a tank hunter team. -
This game is intimidating only because "newbies" are bought up on a diet of relatively similar X^4 games - as Kenm has pointed out those games are all getting a bit predictable!! The difference is that CM is based upon a dataset that ANYONE can check against - it's called history. And it's based at a level that is pretty personal - virtually the level of an individual soldier, within the context of a real military unit. there's little in strategy gaming to prepare "newbies" for this because CM is NOT a STRATEGY game!!!!! That it keeps being lumped as a strategy game is a sign of how the lowest common denominator has seized the minds of the software industry - where image is everything and content something I guess you have to have as long as you can't get away with having none.

Anti-Tank guns vs. Tanks
Stalin's Organ replied to Troy Spiral's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Your above "widespread" table also was "introduced" - comparing 2 x 50mm PAK introduced for trial to 7500 45mm guns or at least like 100 57mm in 1941 (based on batteries being equipped with ZIS-30's in at least 20 SP AT brigades) is complete nonsense. The 45mm was in service in huge numbers when the standard German AT gun was the 37 - period! -
Where is the realism?
Stalin's Organ replied to Brightblade's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I've had similar happen in broad daylight - I'm thinking of an encounter between short-50 armed P-3's and T34's at ranges of 1-200m in a town where it took 4-5 shots to hit (and ricochet 'from teh 50!! ). -
Worst idea yet for a scenario
Stalin's Organ replied to Hans's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Brick yard 2 150/152mm observers fight it out on a single 20m sq tile.....with no ammo. -
Hollow Charge Oddities
Stalin's Organ replied to PantherG's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Are you sure of that? I thought the spigot bomb just slid down hte barrel and over the existing shape, and was fired by a blank charge loaded in hte breach in the normal manner - so no mod required. -
Russian Infantry Anti-Tank Weapons?
Stalin's Organ replied to pad152's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Like he said - there were so few German tanks to fight against and so many Russian ones to fight against them to bother!! -
why do victory flags change ..
Stalin's Organ replied to Laox's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
The flag status you see only takes into account the facts that you know - your opponent may see it as something else entirely. So don't read too much into it!! In fact there might be 3 different status's for a flag - what you see, what your opponent sees, and what it actually is - which is only revealed at the game end.
