Good lord, no. That way madness lies.

No.

If I could snap my fingers and change anything I would increase the micro terrain cover values for prone infantry. For all the talk about nerfed HE in the game, non-airbursting fire is too lethal against soldiers with their faces in the dirt. Also, soft ground does not reduce explosive effects as it should.
-
Results are already semi-realistic, and to the extent that they differ from realistic isn't because of too accurate small arms fire. It has much more to do with time compression and players being far more willing to keep pushing their forces until there is nothing left than would most real world commanders. Frankly, I think making small arms less accurate is a terrible idea, particularly if you want infantry to be "less Rambo" since that would make infantry more Rambo. That was in large part the reason for buffing up machine guns.
-
Oh, and another major factor that people are completely overlooking: spotting. Infantry in CM are, in general, much easier to spot than in reality. This is a deliberate design decision so that scenarios don't last 12 hours.
-
I disagree. I think accuracy has already been toned way down compared to reality. If you've ever paid close attention to how many shots it typically takes to hit troops in the open you'll see that soldiers in CM are borderline incompetent at marksmanship. If you want to point the finger at high casualty levels in Combat Mission you would be better off looking towards artillery and mortars, which are too precise by far and at least in the WW2 titles too flexible.
-
I would support suppression from explosions lasting longer. Outside of that I see little need for change. If anything, there are some types of infantry weapons I would like to be more accurate.
-
Some would. Some would not. We've been down this road before. Is Infantry Weaker In CMBB? Infantry In CMBB CMBB Infantry Too Brittle? My disappointment with CMBB The "debate" about CMBB's Infantry Modeling

Regarding the Jagdpanther specifically, yes, but not really anything outside of that context. -
Fire Missions with onboard artillery pieces?
Vanir Ausf B replied to Lt Bull's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Could be a bug, but would need a save game file to be sure. -

Difference between us army and russian army Squads
Vanir Ausf B replied to Lacroix's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
What I learned from this is that APCs are useful for knicking holes in walls Videos of rockets being shot at buildings doesn't tell us much about the affect on inhabitants, particularly in comparison to other explosive type ordinance. What we need is a study or analysis that quantifies effects. Thermobaric weapons that manage to penetrate into buildings already do severe damage in-game and I am not convinced that this aspect is significantly out of whack. The issues of accuracy and penetration are of more concern in my mind, but these are far broader concerns than just thermobaric weapons. -

I think this thread is all there is. Since people tend to start new discussions about things that are not working as expected rather than things that are, it's a good sign -

Yes, it was tested. The thread containing the results is in a forum not publicly accessible. -
Must have feature for the TacAI -> Area Target

So was there ever a time when Iron had friendly FOW during the WEGO orders phase? -
Must have feature for the TacAI -> Area Target
Vanir Ausf B replied to Wiggum15's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
No one seems to recall when it was changed and it may have been an undocumented change, but it was either late Shock Force or early Normandy. -

Not at all. Like I said, even if I was playing in Elite I would deselect anyways just to get rid of the immersion-killing unit bases. Or are you thinking of watching the playback with the camera locked to a unit? I do that all the time. I deselect the unit to banish the pulsating green glow but keep the unit lock. -

Vanir Ausf B replied to Wiggum15's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
Ah, that is interesting. When I am watching for immersion I always deselect any unit I have selected anyways to get rid of the unit bases. When zoomed out looking for information I have no reason to have a unit selected unless I want to know what a specific unit is spotting. For me iron mode works seamlessly. -

It would be helpful if you could dig up some of this real combat performance information. -

No it is not. During the orders phase you see all friendly units at all times, just as in Elite or any other mode. -
Armata soon to be in service.
Vanir Ausf B replied to Lee_Vincent's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
I don't think Russia assumes that the only scenario in which it faces Western equipment is world war 3. NATO countries sell their stuff to non-NATO countries too. And speaking of which, competition in the export market may be as much a reason for Armata as competition on the battlefield.
