  4. Insipired in part by HVAP's thread, I have set up a forum in my website for topics that are outside of the scope of BFC's forums, but still merit discussion. Being we are all (mostly) responsible adults, I invite you all to follow the link in my sig and register! (edit) Hell, even Pengsters are welcome! 9. Glad you liked the movie! I don't know why it took so long for me to host it. The Tiger had a gun hit and was shocked, so it pulled back and stayed just out of sight. The second tank is not a Stug, but a Pz III. All the ground troops were elite, because I had to keep them from ducking into the buildings (Which happens once or twice in the movie), so they wouldn't turn the buildings transparent. The biggest reason why that PzIII got hit with 2 molotovs. The T34's were elite also, I thought originally that the Tiger would eat their lunch. On top of all that I had 2 or 3 German spotters bombing the street to keep things interesting. Soddball: I have space now, you can sent more if you want. You can also use the other email address I sent. Gyrene

  11. CAS is the sole reason for Marine aviation. Shooting down other planes is a side benefit, but is considered the Navy's job. The USMC also had a very highly developed system of Naval gunfire support, with a dedicated controller and often with Destroyers assigned to support specific units with direct fire. (Regimental and Battalion level) Gyrene
  12. Veteran doesn't mean worn out. Veterans would be more used to running under real combat stress, which the less experienced Regulars are not used to. Combat stress adds to fatigue in a way that very few Regulars in CM's time frame would be exposed to during training (If any of them), not to mentioned they are much more likely to be better acclimatized to their particular environment than Regulars. 13. The Reising Model 50 sub-machine gun - The Chauchat of the Pacific. Gyrene
  14. My pick: The 2nd Marine Division, it participated in only 4 campaigns in WWII, but these were: Guadalcanal Tarawa Saipan Okinawa There were no cakewalks in the Pacific, but the 2nd was involved in some of the nastiest fights of the entire war. While we're on the topic of the 1st Marine Division's younger and much lesser known siblings, take the 3rd Marine Division, who also only participated in "only" 4 campaigns in WWII: Bouganville Saipan Guam Iwo Jima The best army, the best air force, or the best navy maybe be up for grabs, but the USMC was the best marine corps of the war.
