Mad Mike got a reaction from Vanir Ausf B in Which has better campaigns and scenarios - CMRT or CMFB?
CMRT has some, in my eyes, classic battles to offer:
- Studienka
- Carius at Malinava
- Der Ring der 5. Panzer-Division
- CMRT Fester Platz Polozk
The first three are Panzer-heavy affairs on great maps with lots of room for manoeuvering. Fester Platz Polozk is a great defence scenario against the AI, it really works quite well.
Also, as already mentioned, Kampfgruppe von Schroif is a great campaign to be played, featuring German Panzer / Panzergrenadier forces in a counterattack.
So, together with the change of the theatre and the Soviets as a completely new army, my vote would go to CMRT, definitely.

Yep, campaign trees are auto-generated by ScAnCaDe. That's why they sometimes look so "special". No human could/would do it like this..

Mad Mike reacted to Mord in Mord's CMFB Unit Portraits Mod
That is awesome, Mike.Traditionally these mods end up with a 1000+ portraits even before modules, so having a nice chunk of the time consuming research out of the way helps to curb the frustration and burnout that can set in before the real work begins. It's a daunting task all around. I already have 20+ hours in and haven't made a portrait yet. This helps immensely!
Thank you.
This mod will be like all the others, buddy, with the all the variant styles; small shields on various backgrounds (applicable seasons included), big shields, etc.
Mord.

Mad Mike got a reaction from Aragorn2002 in Mord's CMFB Unit Portraits Mod
I have identified some more units for March 1945 (21.03.1945):
34 SS Inf Div SS-Freiwilligen-Grenadier-Division „Landstorm Nederland“
8 Fals Div --now properly named/numbered when compared to February '45
2 Inf Div Mountain (2. Gebirgsdivsion)
172 Inf Div
That's it so far from me. Maybe somebody else can contribute for the months of October and November 1944.

Mad Mike got a reaction from Mord in Mord's CMFB Unit Portraits Mod
It's a lot, to be sure. But it includes all the eastern front as well as the Italian, Balkans and Northern (Denmark, Norway) theatres.
If, for CMFB, you're only interested in the direct western front in the classical sense (so, Benelux states and France), it would be quite easily do-able for the months from December 1944 to March 1945.
So I could do one listing for each of the four months, let me know if this would help. It would still be a long list for each month though.

Mad Mike reacted to grunt_GI in Scenario Editor . . . needing step-by-step instructions
This is the program that "unpacks" campaigns to individual scenarios that can then be modified using the editor. it is one of my favorite CM tools..keep in mind it does NOT work on CMSF.

Mad Mike got a reaction from beersmurff in German 'Handy Top Tips' armoured tactics document
Well done, agree with most of what you've written.
It's just that you seem to miss my point: Whoever translated this, intended "Halbe" to mean "half speed". That's the only way this whole sentence construction as it stands in the translation makes sense.
There is no "Der Halte" in German. "Der Halt" would be the closest, correct equivalent.
I guess this all is a case of a translator with mediocre understanding of German translating the original into English, which then in turn has been translated back into German. Would be interesting to see the original, maybe someone can provide a scan?

I don't think the original is flawed.
It says: There should be only two speeds for a tank: half speed (for firing) and full throttle.
"Halbe" does not mean "halt" or "stop" and it is not a typo. The reason it can't be a typo is quite logical: Nobody would refer to a halting tank as having any speed at all, it does have no speed since it is standing still. So when point 8 refers to two speeds, this does by itself exclude standing still. Don't try to overthink this or make it more complicated than it really is .. it simply means what I wrote above and it was also meant to say this.

Mad Mike got a reaction from Bulletpoint in Can start quick battles but not save/load them?
Bulletpoint,
can you confrm that this is the QB map pack you are referring to:
http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=1716
If so, I had a look at these and the maps are not the problem. They have all been created with CMBN v1.01.
Also, the submission date into the repository (beginning of 2012) is clearly before either the CW or MG module even were released.
The maps do not require any module to be present in order to play with them.
My guess:
The AI force selection is somehow "broken" by being allowed to select forces for which you don't have the module.
This does not seem to be a problem for playing straight away (there seems to be no check for available modules as there is when loading a saved game).
So my guess so far: Bug in the game.
But I'm sure Ian will take a good look at it and report it if it is a real problem.

Mad Mike got a reaction from easytarget in Looking for a New Scenario Organizer
You won't find the "original" Scenario Organisor anymore, since it became obsolete with ScAnCaDe and I have removed it from GaJs site.
