  1. Great gobs of...something. It's not that I order them to wantonly die, it's that they DESIRE it to SHOW me their devotion. Really. Or so the dispatch runners tell me. Glass of port before you return?
  2. In actual life, there are many who have. (Nebulous? Indeed...) Ken
  3. It's not your mods. This has shown up and been reported. Elves are at work. Feverishly. Ebola-style. (I know it's a pita. Patience is a virtue. Gluttony is not. I like blue.) Ken
  4. Hmmm, 100m certainly is a bit long. Thanks for the catch.
  5. Tree trunk? I don't think so. I seem to recall that the close-in trees are "unbalanced". They don't block outgoing LOS/LOF. (As I remember it.) This allows for the modeling of micro-positioning without the concomitant CPU cycles needed for the TacAI to move individuals a few cm left or right. Yet, those same trees WILL block LOS/LOF from distant enemies. (Hence, you get the benefit, not the drawbacks.) Individual with binos is the one that spots better. (If there's a spotting issue, remember that the spotting times are not continuous. Units get polled for spotting at different intervals and with different initial "seeds".) Ken
  6. I would bill based on how far the units move and/or how much ammo they expend. My tanks ran out of...err...credits! Now they're sitting ducks. More ammo to my left flank mg42! Quick, slide my card through the usb point of sale scanner.
  7. It is tracked based on possession. And, I'll guarantee that if the guy holding the binos takes a hit, the bullet will smash the glass. Just sayin'. So, if you split a team for scouting, track the binos. I mean, if you use your scouts to look. But what good does that do? Me, I like to find the danger zones. For that, I need scouts who can get hit. "Jenkins! Go on over there. I need to know if Jerry is over that way." Crack. "Ahhh!!!". "Okay, men. See where Jenkins just got hit? Right. Jerry can shoot you if you go there." That's how to scout.
  8. Ahh, much better. The explosion "feels" better. Visually. There are so many good mods out there...
  9. Gents, I've downloaded Aris HD Explosion mod. (Thanks to Aris and to GaJ for hosting it.) It looks great...but. I've noticed the explosion expands, as one would expect, peaks, then retracts as if it is rewinding. Instead it should disappear or dissipate. Opening the mod, I deleted 9 of the bmps. The 2nd half. Yet, the game still shows the 2nd half of the explosion. How do I blank out that part? Are there other explosion mods out there? Thanks, Ken
  10. Your friend wasn't sburke, was it? If so, the stabbing was probably caused by the way he questions those who make his food. Really.
  11. ^^^ PzIV's looking like bunkers. That's because the slave labor in the factories over-applied the zimmerit. Really. It's a feature. Made 'em look like rolling concrete blocks. Overstressed the drivetrain and broke 'em down. Made the war end sooner. Okay, that was a joke. Known issue. Thanks.
  12. Can I move in when you're done? Your buildings look great. Thank you.
  13. Sometimes the responses do seem a bit too sharp and mannerless. Certainly, having doors barred to your men can lead to mass slaughter. Some players don't plan for that: others expect it. I did not suffer from the building bug, so I have no excuse for my men dying in the open other than their desire to do so to show their devotion to me. I thank them. That bug was particularly hard to recreate, as you've been told, yet it was fixed in one game. Why no fix for CMRT? Maybe THAT particular bug in CMRT has been fixed and there's another reason why the CMRT patch hasn't yet been released? It would be safe to assume that there are differences between CMRT and CMFI and that maybe those differences are complex and might have something to do with it. Maybe. See what I wrote, above: "Sometimes the responses do seem a bit too sharp and mannerless." Your final statement is to denigrate BFC's competency and/or prioritization. That's uncalled for. Really. If you want polite, informative answers, then a bit less snideness would do wonders. Bugs are a fact of life in complex code. I don't write code, but I play games. I have yet to play any pc game which is bug-free. (Disregarding minesweeper. Yeah, even Solitaire has bugs.) You have a rare bug. It's not BFC's fault. But they are working to fix it. For free.
  14. Downloaded. (And you KNOW I'll check the map and forces out against Ian Daglish's book! ) Thanks. Ken
  15. Lt Bull; thanks for posting. It's being looked at.
  16. App store wins it for me. (The pay or die model? Cool...until the recipient of your money goes out of business or something. Then you lose everything. Forever.) 99 cent battles? Bring 'em. But, how do you do that and keep folks from trading them/copying them? More drm licensing? Designer rep/reviews would be critical to sales, so a robust, built-in, easy to use, review system would be needed. (Make it part of the exit screen? Can't exit unless you give it one to five stars, comments optional?) Shrug. Meantime, I'm still dreaming of finishing one of the best ideas for a CMSF campaign ever envisioned. Map 1 is still in progress...but the plot for the campaign is done. In my head.
  17. I'm with you on that. Imagine the terror your opponent would have when your Char b1 bis screeches and rattles aound the bend, walloping them with the dread 37 or stubby 75! Early war does have an attraction to me. It would be cool to see.
  18. I agree that MORE included battles and campaigns would be great to have. My beta-part on the vehicle pack was quite small. Most of my time is devoted to REDACTED BY MODERATOR and REDACTED BY MODERATOR. I put in a lot of hours checking other peoples' work. (That means I did FAR less than they did. ) To have run through battles/campaigns would've added a lot more effort. Effort=Cost to you + a delay. Battles/Campaigns released by BFC must be "tight". They are official. I can create "March of the Crocodiles", featuring a squadron of these beasties roasting their way across the bocage, but BFC cannot. It would be a lame battle, not up to BFC's standards. I'd pay for a disk full of decent battles. Good maps, decent fights or interesting ones at least. Downloading one at a time for the depository is a pita. We hear the Vehicle Pack is too expensive, not worth it, etc. (A minority of whingers, agreed. ) What would happen if a battle pack were released? "What? You're charging me for this? I could make this myself with the editor!" Etc. Again, I agree: more battles and more campaigns are the lifeblood of this series. I'm willing to pay for them. Are others willing to pay? Will that be enough? Ken
  19. Gents, Since there are questions about how to activate, I've copied the instructions from the manual. Activation / Licensing IMPORTANT! The CM:BN Vehicle Pack is special! Unlike previous releases, it requires you to reactivate your base game (v3.0), and all other modules (if you have any) when you launch it for the first time. Start by launching the game normaly (e.g. doubleclick). You will be prompted to re-activate your game. No worries, this is not going to use up an activation. a) Please find your CMBN Engine Upgrade v3.00 license key that you received when you purchased the Upgrade. Repeat: you need the v3.00 Upgrade key. Keys from v1.00 or v2.00 won’t work. make sure the computer on which you have the game installed has an active online connection to the internet c) click “Enter Serial” in the product activation dialog window. d) enter your v3.0 license key into the correct field. e) hit the “Activate” button and wait a few seconds while your license authorizes. f) this activates your base game. If you launch the game now, it is going to show you the base v3.00 install without any modules and without the Vehicle Pack. g) now you need to activate the Pack as well as any other modules you may have. To do so, you need to use the “Activate Modules” shortcut link to bring up the activation interface again. If you opted to not have it created on your desktop or deleted it from there, then you can find the link in (PC) your Start menu under Start > Programs > Battlefront > Combat Mission Battle for Normandy, or (Mac) in the Application folder. h) repeat the above procedure for any module you may have, as well as for the Vehicle Pack itself. You will need the following license keys: - for the Commonwealth Forces and Market Garden Modules, you need a license key from when you purchased said module, including as part of a bundle (for example, the Big Bundle, CMBN + Commonwealth Bundle, Comonwealth + 3.0 + Market Garden Bundle, and so on.) - for the Vehicle Pack, use the same key you used to download the Pack I hope this resolves any lingering issues. Ken
  20. I could've sworn a saw a "+2 Emplaced" chit floating around here somewhere...
  21. Another thing: guns get a bonus for being in their setup location. It represents better camouflage and being dug in. (At least, I think that's how it works.) So, that gun is a tough target to hit and kill with artillery. Suppression with a drizzle, as mentioned above. That'll keep their heads down and their morale poor. To cover your advance...SMOKE.
  22. Very true! But by following my advice, you will be dated, as well as updated! Ken
