  1. Sir, you have hit the nail on the head! The game is simply not fun! CMX1 is a much better series and CMX2 is striving to attain the same level of worthiness. Now you must be prepared for the CMSF beta tester backlash! INCOMING!!!!!!
  2. A nice gesture to keep the crowd busy until CMN is released. GoGamer is selling CMBO (CDV) for $1USD as part of their 48h Memorial Madness Sale! Good price for a great game. I'm guessing linkys to GoGamer are verboten so you can use The Google to find the site.

  4. Sad, but true! Has anyone seen the air combat show on HDNet(?) channel? I can't recall the exact name, but it appears to be very similar to the "Dogfights" show from THC but with more details of the aircraft. I caught a bit of one episode detailing WWII combat between the Japanese fighters and American fighters (probably Zeros and F4Fs?). The show cuts between computer graphics of the dogfight and, check this, the narrator flying in a plane at 5,000ft describing the battle. Odd thing was the narrators voice is transmitted over his microphone while he is flying so it is hard to understand half of what he says due to the background noise of the airplane engine (ymmv, imho)! haha
  5. LMAO! What a spot on (and fun to read) analogy of the BF problems!
  6. Yeah, but don't forget that CMSF was a frakkin' mess when released! But I think that was due to BF making a bad contract with the distributor/publisher(?) and being forced to release the game early. Hopefully, BF has wisened up a bit for CMN and I hope they don't get caught 'with their pants down' so to speak!
  7. bummer about not finding a copy. As I mentioned above you shoudl contact Chris(?) at the NWS wargame site above and tell him what you are looking for these days. He gets lots of game in trade for credit and he can contact you if he gets a copy of either game. Maybe we can bug GOG.com to see if they can get the titles for their store. They have old games that are checked to work on XP and Vista and the games have no DRMs. Good prices, too. in fact...I see they have a new Ubisoft catalog at GOG.com...they know have IL-2: 1946 for $10USD. And it says that Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six are coming soon. I never played GR or RS, are they worth getting for $5-$10USD?
  8. MoW up over at Wargamer.com http://www.wargamer.com/article/2682/men-of-war-reviewed
  9. Have you tried The Google? Have you checked Ebay? Have you checked for online game stores that sell used PC games? Check out NWS Online combat game store - they carry new and used PC games. If you don't see what you want send them an email and they will try to get you a copy (or send you an email if they acquire a copy). Have you checked local game stores? I haven't been to one ages, but last time I visited a Gamestop-type store they had 95-99% Console games in stock. good luck!
  10. Sounds good. I don't think this game will be ready for military for several years until all bugs are gone.
  11. Sounds interesting because I have low "twitch-factor." Thanks for the info. i just saw the positive review of MoW at IGN. It seems to be getting good reviews from critics and fans.
  12. I thought that was one of the (now failed) goals/reasons for making CMSF?
  13. Yeah, I recall playing Age of EmpiresII/Age of Kings cooperatively (2 or more players playing 1 civ) with my friend, and using rogerwilco for voicecomms, against the AI and/or against other humans. Great fun!! And it was easy to see how this division of labor really upped the level of play and increased the effectiveness of our civ in harvesting resources and fighting! Man, were we really doing this coop play back in the year 1998?! Wow, over 10 years ago...how time flies!!
  14. ahhh. gotcha! Thanks for the info. yeah, it does sound complicated if you have a publishers, distributors, and sellers all having different ideas of what price they want to charge for you games!
  15. Yes, Coop play would be an excellent feature for CM:N (if that will be the name of the normandy game).
  16. very nice! Thanks to yourself and Stikypixie for your work!
  17. Good review. I have to agree with teh summation: "In the end it really boils down to that old stereotype that most expansions are only to be recommended if you enjoyed the original. The new units are interesting and fun to play with, the new campaign offers a lot of challenge, and the single mission scenarios are mostly well done and worthy of some time. There are however no real new gameplay elements added. Though I would normally not recommend a game based on the mods and user made scenarios I do have to mention them in this instance. There are scores of missions and even fully fledged campaigns made by users that rival and sometimes even put the ones that Battlefront’s provided to shame. While I’m still waiting for that elusive holy grail of a truly worthy AI opponent this will certainly keep me occupied for quite some time to come."
  18. haha Then there was that comment, when CMBO was on sale for $1.99USD at GoGamer before Christmas 2008, to the effect of, "Hmmm, we will have to check into this because our company did not approve this price/sale." I asked if BF gets to approve all sales, pricing, etc., but I did not receive a response.
  19. well said! I think most of the folks here are a bit sensitive to any (perceived or actual) negative CMSF comments. The reviewer gave a thumbs up the game (8/10) and they are not happy! go figure.
  20. Great! Where can I find more information on the sale figures of these games?
  21. Wow! $5 and bundled with another game! good deal!! Tell anyone who may have been thinking of buying this game about this deal.
  22. 8/10 or 8/100? dang, could the review have been any shorter and still be called a review? LOL I would not have been surprised if the review was a 6 or 7, but 8 is darn good for this little game.
