  1. Oh, truer words were never spoken, I was in this chair, mouth agape, stunned for three days while my brain fooled the rest of me, that I was off earning scheckles for the next beer fest. I was rudely awoken by the ever lovin' boss phoning and askin' if I was going to grace him with my presence. I blame it on rune. I had just finished reviewing the latest sendup from this obviously horribly scarred and lonely trollup. (Or maybe just troll). He apparently likes dark places and sends me in to attack with the Russian dishwashing battallion, depleted no less, and without benefit of drying towels, nor drain rack. Mrs. Poon sends me a setup so lopsided, I have 1 company that has nothing but a depleted squad, short of ammo with a 2 man company HQ and depleted company HQ. Conscripts of course, no artillery, and please to charge across this open ground... I'm gonna see a human wave for the first time that starts out with 8 men (The whole company.) Hopeless but brave, like the Anzacs at Gallipoli except his bottom sniffers will still run in fear and horror. You just wait for the screenshots of that. All turns are out for the rest of you gits. And somebody is gonna have ta email me with the story on the last thread. Last I know I post and end up with 3 posts going in, then have 30 seconds to edit before I have to leave. One of you making with the homemade jacuzzi in the pool again?
  2. Fionn, I missed the thread where you were hassled. Too bad closed minded and uneducated people exist. It creates more censorship than we realise. In your AAR's CMHQ. I remember reviewing them diligently when I started CMBO. From an old squad Leader fan, they were an excellent demonstration of the new mechanics and the theory I was to learn. Last month, I re-walked-through a couple, to get the finer points. Good luck to you and may the jerks get tired of the community, get educated, get theirs.
  3. Nice find apex, really puts things into perspective.
  4. Your language far outstrips the need for it. </font> Play the game as it is handed to you. </font>You need to learn how to handle less than perfect conditions too. </font>Stop whining. </font> [ January 07, 2003, 10:14 PM: Message edited by: Egbert ]
  5. May I add my voice to the chorus. I have been with CMBO two years and recently CMBB. I am amazed at the talent and inspired to try my own hand. Perhaps one day I will produce something of value. Until then, I depend on your stalwarts. Thank You.
  6. Doesn't that look like a factory mod in the background? Nice bridge. Can't wait to decorate it with burning tanks and eliminated squads. [ January 07, 2003, 02:25 PM: Message edited by: Egbert ]
  7. I haven't been there for 15 years. I'm in Richmond but I don't think I can make it to DC anytime soon. If anyone is ever interested in the Army transport museum at Ft. Eustis, Newport News (Near Williamsburg), drop me a line. I haven't been to the museum for a while but I'm there 4 days a week, I'll see what they have displayed now.
  8. Sure, I haven't looked at that one yet, Send me your gamey setup. I need some practice as the Russkies. AAAAAArrrrrRRRRRRRgGGGGGGG and all that.
  9. depends. depends on how badly you need the position flanked, etc. Best to run some tests and see for yourself then posts your results here.
  10. So you think you've done something cause you can't even build a decent fire, ruined what might have been a decent Irish Whiskey. Then you go prancing about all proud and happy, like you ruined it all by yourself. Wasn't even you built that smokey thing, embarassed to be called a fire, in the first place. And to boot, you're happy to be having one of these things living in your house. What the heck is that? and can anybody help him get rid of it? for humanities sake? I'll send over a few platoons of Russki's to build you a decent fire in the morning. edited 'cause the gnome thinks he sees leprechauns [ January 02, 2003, 07:59 AM: Message edited by: Egbert ]
  11. You should ahve selected target instead of Assault. They were already so close that Assault was unnecessary. I do suspect you should have been able to correct the assault order though. Check your manual for the correct use of the Assault command.
  12. You're not going to convince anyone there's a smart thumb involved.
  13. Ugh, the firing slit creation thing was my poor attempt at humor. I think that's why al lthe pics of tanks I've seen had shovels. edited to emphasize- that was another poor attempt at humor.
  14. No, make me! Edited to say: [ December 29, 2002, 02:41 PM: Message edited by: Egbert ]
  15. Yeah cause I like to have more than 1 T-34 on the map at any one time, seems to work better. Besides I don't want have only 1 or 2 more tanks left just before the weekend starts.
  16. Now that's just too funny. Ever note Battlefront.com is member #42. That's just soo preplanned classicly geek, it's scary.
  17. Perhaps the thought is that if you doing it enough you create your own firing slit. Yesss, that must be it.
  18. I have not seen this error on my games except where I manually target the nme tank. If the commander selects the target, I have not seen the tank to plowshares problem. I wonder now that I am not close to a PC with CMBB on it. Can someone look and see if line of sight differ when buttoned or unbuttoned? In theory LOS when unbuttoned should be slightly different when buttoned due to the additional foot or so height advantage to the exposed commander. Does it change the hull down stopping point? BTW, as an old CMBO'er I also find I am rather good at manually selecting hull down but now find it less tedious with the command. As far as moving the tanks into ambush position, I select where I think the base of the target tank to be, not the copula and find that except in rare instances, I am satisfied with the result. Barring that, manually place your units or use a combnination of hunt and move to contact. Someone want to model what happens if you use a hunt then move to contact and see if it resolves the error instead of just a hunt? I have not seen this error on my games except where I manually target the nme tank. If the commander selects the target, I have not seen the tansk to plowshares problem. 19. I'll thank you to embolden my purposely-selected as unfortunate name you slanderous conniving twit. I offer the solution to the mysterious parallax error and you still run home to suckle the teat of the BFC gods. Send me a setup of your choice and we'll settle it between your skirt wearin' confused gamey smelling prep school pips and my barechested in the winter, reaking of excess testosterone MEN. Edited to emphasize I softened a bit as I forgot which thread I'm in. [ December 28, 2002, 03:49 PM: Message edited by: Egbert ]
  20. I have learned to send the tank into hull down with the hull down point just in front of or on the ground under the offending unit (target). This gives me a good target every time. End of problem. Alter the point at which you select to make your tank hull down. [ December 27, 2002, 07:37 PM: Message edited by: Egbert ]
