COMBAT MISSIONS: M24 Chaffee, by TIGER!
Doug Williams replied to Manx_CM's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)

quote:
I understand that John has a non-camoed version also. I will add this as soon as i get it.

Manx, You already have a non-camoed Chaffee by Tiger on your site. Would this be an updated version? To anyone, Did the Americans ever paint their tanks in a camo pattern? -
99 requests for a Chaffee light tank mod
Doug Williams replied to lcm1947's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
That's one nice looking Chaffee, Tiger. I do feel the need to ask, however, if the Americans ever used camo paint on their tanks? The Chaffee mod I have installed, which I'm 90% sure is by Tiger, doesn't have any camo paint. -Doug -
Are we ever going to get Mad Dog Mod Pack 3?
Doug Williams replied to Fuerte's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Fuerte, Any mod can be uninstalled with minimal difficutly. All the original BMPs are on the CM CD. Simply copy the relevant ones from the CD back into the CM BMP directory and you are back to the original. For the sake of convenience, I keep a separate backup directory of my BMPs. That way, if after installing a mod I find I don't like it, I simply copy the backup directory back into the CM BMP directory. That way I don't have to remember the file names. It's all so simple, I fail to understand why anyone would find it difficult.... -
Are we ever going to get Mad Dog Mod Pack 3?
Doug Williams replied to Fuerte's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Fuerte, Just look at the screenshots the web sites provide, then download the mods that look good to you and try them out. It's actually kind of fun...a little game in itself. I downloaded the majority of mods that I am using when I still had just a 56K modem. The mod and scenario authors are one big reason CM is staying so fresh. -
What's Marco up to?

DOH!

Your words are like slings and arrows wounding our hearts! In the name of all that is good, drop whatever you are doing and POST THOSE MODS! If it wasn't for the Combat Missions web site, we mod addicts would be going into dt's by now. -

quote:
BTW, there was a half assed attempt at ripping of Hathcock's story in a movie called "Sniper" with Billy Zane.

Who the heck is Billy Zane? Was that the prissy guy with the Gucchiflage (sp)? The real star of that movie is Tom Berenger (of Platoon fame). While his performance in Sniper is not up to his Sgt. Barnes in Platoon, and Sniper isn't half the movie Platoon is, it's still pretty good.

Well, Madmatt, I certainly hope things have calmed down in your hometown. I haven't seen anything about it lately on the news. Will we be seeing the long promised CMHQ update this week perhaps? If you are too busy to do your usual bang-up job, how about just dumping all the new mods into the "Untested" catagory? That way we can all play with them until you get the time to catagorize them.

COMBAT MISSIONS: STUG/H !!
Doug Williams replied to Manx_CM's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Be still my heart. Beautiful work! These will be on my hard drive as soon as I get home and d/l them. -

quote:
I am thinking of posting all these mods en mass to the the Untested Area just so you can get your gready little hands on them.

I'm all for it. Post 'em and we'll test 'em for ya.

Bumping this back to page one...

Here is a question that has been bothering me since I started playing CM. If you have infantry dug in in foxholes in woods or tall pines and you notice a spotting round land nearby, should you order your men to run away or should you have them sit tight and "weather the storm"? Does having them hide make any difference?

How long would you wait for a REAL CM2?
Doug Williams replied to Claymore's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I will wait for CM2 until it is done. BTS, take your time. I have not yet begun to play one tenth of the scenarios available for CM, not to mention the fun I'm haveing with PBEM. It's not like there is going to be a dearth of good games this year: Warcraft III, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Neverwinter Nights, and others. -Doug -
Madmatt, I know you are busy and all, but when can we expect the big CMHQ update that you said would happen on the 8th? I'm really looking forward to seeing the new mods you mentioned by Fernando and others. [ 04-11-2001: Message edited by: Doug Williams ]

CM2 - Will you play CM:BO after its release?
Doug Williams replied to Wilhammer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Yes, I will. Certainly not as much, but I will still play CMBO. -Doug -
Change Screen Resolution?
Doug Williams replied to Volstag's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Volstag, Go to the CMBO directory and delete the "prefs" file. When you restart CM, you will be able to change resolutions. -
More coming (mod) attractions
Doug Williams replied to Gordon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Gordon, Everything looks fantastic. Keep up the great work. Agua, There is an M8 Greyhound mod available at CMHQ. It's under the untested mods section and it's called Improved M8/M20. -
How to get rid of the game exit explosion?
Doug Williams replied to Fuerte2's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Just removing it doesn't seem to work. The program will then pull it off the CD and you will still hear it. Replacing it with another sound seems to be the best option. -
Good. Just download it from Combat Missions. That will be the best way to get it. You won't be dissappointed. Great work, John. And a big sloppy kiss to Manx and all the others who host CM mods on their web pages.

Sure, guys. I can send it, but like I said, please send me an e-mail asking for it. It's much easier that way. iguana@chartertn.net -Doug (Edit: crap, posted my old e-mail address. Old habits die hard. Now corrected.) [This message has been edited by Doug Williams (edited 04-01-2001).]

Sounds good. This is the Jeep to have, guys. If anyone wants it (who wouldn't?) I'll e-mail it out until he finds a host. Trouble is, I'm at work and won't be able to send it to anyone until tomorrow. E-mail me if interested, that way all I have to do is reply. iguana@chartertn.net

Axis flags in CMBO; why different?
Doug Williams replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Well, I agree that there are obviously good actions (helping the poor, being kind to children, etc.) and obviously evil actions (murder, torture, etc.). As to whether humans are inherently evil, I do have an opinion there, but it is due to my religious beliefs and, as I am aware that this is not a religious discussion forum, I will refrain from further comment here. BTW, Major Tom, did you take your username from the song Space Oddity by David Bowie? I always liked that one. -Doug -
Great mod. The "stock" Jeep was way too green. Is this the same mod you e-mailed me a couple of weeks ago, or have you made changes since then? -Doug
