Penetrating hits don't kill as much?
Speedbump replied to sightreader's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
I can say that I have seen this as well. My question is should there be a difference based on the target. I know this sounds strange (and probably impossible due to the game engine), but my example had an Italian tankette taking 5 40mm (A1 Cruiser) penetrations and continue to maneuver and fire. I thought that was strange in a relatively small vehicle like this. Speedbump -
Dang, games landing all around me (Indiana, as far west as Colorado...), but nothing in Ohio....

Great! Just Great... Where were you and CMAK 15 years ago when I was in Lincoln..... Speedbump

Michael, I don't normally act as a grog or historian, but one comment on the pictures posted on your site. I think the picture you have listed as overhead communication lines is actually a well. Travelling in Hungary, you see these canitlevers on the plains everywhere. With a weight on one end and a bucket on the other, little effort is necessary to draw up the water. Jeff

The Incredible IS-2...

If you have time to muck around outside of the Pool and in CMBB, then you have time to send me that setup for CMBO. Jeff -
I believe the size you need is 64X64. Use pixel settings. Double check after you resize. In one or two programs I have used it may give you 64X63 which actually bombs. Been a few weeks since I did it, but I think this is what you want. Jeff, aka Speedbump

So there I was, minding my own business, when into my inbox drops a missive from someone named Boo. "Who is this impudent whelp?", I ask myself. (Speaking quietly, to not attract any unwanted attention) "Yes," I say. "It is that Graphics Designer from just down the road in Rubber Town. No, wait, he was quite upset with me last time I called him that. He prefers to be called a Commerical Photographer. Yes, that's right Boo is that reprobate who takes pictures of tires, or if he is lucky "Boudoir" shots of overweight, middle-aged, trailer dwellers trying desperately to be young again." He said something about dipping my toes back in the MBT, as one of the Ladies of the Pool requested former "participants" to check in. Baa. Why should I do such a thing. What WOULD the traffic bear? CMMOS Disk
Speedbump replied to Louie the Toad's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Interesting thought, however: 1) I believe it was last year that a company in Europe tried to market a mods disk. It was quickly squashed due to copyright and trademark infringement. Most of the modders do it for the love of the game and community. 2) CMMOS mods equal far more than one CD. I think I am up to 2 or 3 full disks. Speedbump -

The CMMOS Marders, figured out their problem

OK, the new CMMOS mods are now ready for download
Speedbump replied to MikeT's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Astrocat and Jwxspoon, can you try again to load the mods, then email me the CMMOSLog.txt file that resides in the CMMOS root directory. I tried again on my machine and don't seem to have any problem. However, since I did the original conversion to CMMOS, I may have manually updated the files. Jeff Myers, aka Speedbump email is in my member information -
CMMOS German Uniforms screenshots, pic intensive
Speedbump replied to MikeT's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Mike, check under ...GEM Software Productions\CM Mod Option Selector\CMBB\Mods\ and you will see a copy of all loaded mods. These zip files are identical to the files downloaded from CMHQ, so the original copy downloaded can be deleted. Jeff, aka Speedbump (as in that is all I am good for in the defense) -

Speedbump replied to MikeT's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Steve, You can download the mods to any directory. After you "load" the mods into CMMOS you can actually delete the downloaded file, as CMMOS saves a copy of the zip into the ..CMMOS\CMBB\Mods\ folder. As such, the downloaded mod is redundant. Jeff, aka Speedbump -
Buda Castle (russians vs hungarians)
Speedbump replied to bardosy's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Folks, As an American who worked in Budapest, and married a Hungarian lady, I would like to point out something. Many Americans do not appreciate History. On the walls of Buda Castle, and on buildings around the city, are scars from bullets, grenades and arty fragments. They come from the WWII battle for Budapest and the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Very few places in the United States reflect history in this way. Budapest (and Hungary) is a beautiful city full of history. Can anyone living in the United States say they can go to a church that is nearly 1,000 years old? Respect for the past goes beyond having a favorite German uber-tank or knowing the date of a battle. cmmos ruleset installation
Speedbump replied to kevsharr's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Kev, Make sure that you set the pulldown on the initial screen to Barbarossa to Berlin. Hit the configure button. Choose the Rule Set tab (at top of screen). Then use the add button, find the ruleset on your hardrive and hit Open. The new rule set should show up on the tree on the left side of the screen. Some rule sets do not come with built in rules. The rule files are copied into the ruleset when you load individual mods. Jeff, aka Speedbump -
One minor addition. I have Captain Wacky's Hi-Res Gridded Grass done as well. Jeff, aka Speedbump

MAJOR new Elefant mod !!!!!!!!!
Speedbump replied to MikeyD's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
MikeT, you promised not to do this. "I am avoiding vehicles", you said. "I am working on uniforms", you said. I had barely downloaded this mod, and was about to ask you for the appropriate numbering, and I see this!! Now run back to the uniforms! Jeff, aka Speedbump -
While I won't speak for MadMatt or MikeT, I can say that conversions to CMMOS are still occuring. A small group of us has continued to support Gordon's utility. The key question now, is where we will end up posting them. www.cmmods.com is an obvious option, but the bandwidth issues discussed above remain. MikeT is working hard to find the mods a home.
