1. Whew. I thought someone was trying to get the EPA involved in CM.
2. Invading the Peng thread to bump EthernalJustice off page one. Please flame me to cinders, as that will help. We now return you to your regular insults and challenges.
3. Probably had something to do with the "occupied building transparent" setting
4. "Best thing is to lay low, bump other threads to have the culprit out of page 1 and that's it." Bump
5. Keep at it. The idea of mixing up the sizes of the rocks is good. I wish I had the artistic ability to mod. Perhaps if some were rounded, like you have now, and others were a little more jagged?
6. I purchased a Maxi-Gamer Cougar (32 Megs) for under $100 that works well with CM and Rogue Spear about six months ago. My system is similar to yours, (AMD-K6-2/350) and my thinking was about the same. Good luck.
7. A half squad makes a good Listening Post. An dug in LP with a Target Reference Point in line of sight makes for a dandy little reception in a night battle. I was on the short end of this one once, and have used it with some good results since then.
8.
quote:
It looks to me as if the scenario is scheduled to end whenever there is an unexpected victory for the Germans.

Yes. The AI (Computer) throws in the towel when it judges the situation to be hopeless.
9. Got my copy in the mail, saw the pics, read the article. T-34 looks good. Article very good but too short. The part about sewers caught me by suprise. I suggest buying the magazine, (it has previews of several military games) and then passing it on to a potential CM player. It is so much fun to watch them squirm after they are hooked!
10. I have a book with pictures from the same range session that shows Churchill , Ike and Bradley shooting carbines. They set Bradley's target at 75 yards, Ike's at 50 and Churchill's at 25. The three fired 45 rounds and scored 29 hits. Same book says the GI's fired for qualification at 200 yards. No breakdown of who scored what percentage of the 29 hits.
11. Outstanding. I have thought about doing the same thing, but just never put in the effort to find all those great photos. Perfect. Just what I was looking for. Thanks.
12. One of my favorite pictures of Churchill is the one where he is pulling back the bolt on a Thompson, wearing a pinstripe suit and that derby of his. The Germans tried to make a "Churchill as gangster" propaganda thing out of it, but it backfired on them as the troops liked the picture.
13. Every once in awhile I stop and consider the level of service we CM addicts get, compare it to some of the sad stories out there and and just grin. Great game, great support, great community. What are the chances? Thanks.
14. Hmm.. I use the notepad function in Windows and import them from there. If I remember, (always a dicey proposition) when you go to load the briefings the game asks where you want to import them from. It asks in a set sequence, and it helps to have the notepad files named so you can remember which is which.
15. Infantry with mammoth grenades. One thing about them is your opponent has to be aware that you would like to get close with engineers. Something unnerving about that.
16. Anyone having any luck with this gizmo for voice chat during TCP/IP? How about using it to issue commands?
17. You get to purchase units if you change the Purchase Units option in a Quick Battle to "allow human". Shop away.
18.
quote:
This is the best wargame, ever

Yup.
19. The 1st Mardiv had Springfields when they landed on Guadalcanal, and did not get Garands until the army showed up armed with them later in the campaign. The Garands were highly sought after by the Marines, many of whom were suspicious of the Garand until they had seen it perform in combat. There is a sea story (Be sceptical) about a joint Army-Marine patrol on the island in the closing phases of the campaign. During the patrol, a Marine sticks to a certain soldier like a shadow, and after some time, the soldier thanks the Marine for his obvious concern for his safety, as they are walking point for the patrol. The Marine replys, " To hell with you. When you get shot I am going to get your M-1 before those other bastards get up here." The Marines were also armed with Reising guns on Guadalcanal, wich were so despised that many got dumped and claimed as "lost in combat". In the Marine Corps, it is said that the only difference between a sea story and a fairy tale is that the fairy tale starts with "Once apon a time", and the sea story starts with "This is no ****" .
