  1. Let's put it this way... I play also IL-2 and forgotten battles and can tell you those guys from 1C (Oleg maddox) are just as dedicated as the guys from Battlefront. No problem of course because they handle a flightsim. But now they focus on the same kind of game as CM maybe thinks could change. This post was intended to see the reactions from CM players and it is nice to see how everybody thinks about this issue. Maybe a side effect is that the CMX2 developers are extra motivated (probably they are motivated enough already ) to bring out a product with some of the futures Battlefield command has like for example the campaign modus. Since I already wrote in a reaction how addicted I’m to CM it may be clear that whatever product hits the market I will stick to battlefront. As long as people like Madmatt and Moon are around CM has nothing to fear. [ April 11, 2003, 10:16 AM: Message edited by: Jaws ]
  2. Yeah, a little, though I'm sure it's not intended. Certainly the game won't need this kind of pushing to sell well. It has a lot of promise and certainly looks very good. It has a great team behind it, too. I am sure it will reach a much bigger mass audience than CM ever did, but why should this be a bad thing for us? Martin </font>
  3. A long time ago I made a post that I was concerned about the CM series. The reason was that I only noticed improvements of CMBO rather than developing a new engine or game. In my opinion the CM-series could die just like the Close Combat series if they didn't develop a new engine or game. Most of the people didn't saw the problems at that moment. I'm a big fan of the CM series and I really like the community and the forums. But if we don't invest in a new gamers group I fear the community will be greyed out. (I don’t know if this is correct English?) The text below is from a new game called battlefield command and I see it threaten the CM mission series. Not that I don't like to see new games but I can imagine the new gamers will be impressed by games like “Battlefield Command” and loose there interested in games like CM (B.t.w. the game got the so called Campaign modus in it) Am I seeing Ghost or should battlefront keep their eyes open and develop a new looking game instead of using up their current engine? Or will CMX2 bring this all?? Any opinions about this?? ------------------------------------------------- Battlefield Command delivers the ultimate tactical conflict experience capturing the cunning, passion and realism of being responsible for a combined tactical force during some of histories most dramatic and intense battles. From the invasion of Poland and France in 1939-40, through to the D-Day landings of 1944, to the fall of Germany in 1945, take control of Allied or Axis armies chosen from ten nationalities including American, British, French, Russian or German. Commanding a wide range of military units, complete with authentic uniforms, weapons, vehicles and planes draws the player into a realistic and accurately recreated military environment of Europe from 1939-45. Battlefield Command captures not only the tactics and strategy of war but also the emotions of being a battlefield Commander in WWII through realistic and personally intense detail. Being responsible for the men in your unit and the bond that develops between veterans as campaigns progress is important and plays an integral part in the behavior of the unit. As a commander of a band of soldiers, each with their own skills, abilities, identities and personalities, players will be able to zoom down to the battlefield and identify what individual soldiers are thinking and feeling. Covering WWII’s major European battles from the invasion of Poland and France in 1939-40, through the war on the Eastern Front and the fall of Germany in 1945. Choose to fight with Allied or Axis armies from nine nationalities including British, American German, French and Russian. Over three hundred individual units in thirty-three European locations, in over one hundred battles. Every mission is based on historical events, in real locations re-constructed using precise maps, aerial and period photography. Incredible game detail – individual AI per soldier, authentic uniforms, weapons, vehicles, planes and equipment accurately recreated using military blueprints. Battle tactics involve reconnaissance, covert operations, rescues, city skirmishes and assaults, ambushes and sabotage. Unit behaviour is affected on morale, experience and skills. Your unit’s ability to fight effectively as a team to overcome the enemy is dependent on morale, experience and skills. Each soldier has thirty-six personal and combat attributes which can advance through the game, so the more campaigns you engage in, the more skills your unit develop and the greater the bond becomes between you and your men. As your game progresses and you negotiate the various campaigns, your units are continually rewarded with promotions and decorations. Their achievement, honor and success is your own. Single and multiplayer options including allied or axis missions for each campaign and four specialist multiplayer modes all of which are fully customizable. -------------------------------------------------
  4. This is a reaction to the Beta test 1.03; How smart is the TankAI in the beta patch 1.03? Yes they do turn there front towards the enemy but I’ve played a game three times and they are still flanking towards the enemy if they retreat or advance?? Aldo there is enough coverage. Sorry I don’t know a easy way to upload my picture. If this problem is not part of the TankAi issue forget this post. [ April 07, 2003, 04:23 PM: Message edited by: Jaws ]

  7. Thanks for the answers, we will see how things develop. I still have a lot of confidence in Battlefront.
  8. Thanks for your information.... I will play CMBO then when I'm not at home.
  9. I've got a notebook with Windows XP. It is a P 2.4, 512 RAM and a SiS M650 video card. When I play CMBB I can not see the 3d environment but I can see the taskbar?? Anyone got a tip how I can solve this problem?? B.t.w. I've got the latest drivers and DX 9.0a [ April 04, 2003, 04:15 PM: Message edited by: Jaws ]
  10. CMBB is great and I like to play it for an long, long time. But 2 things I'm worried about: 1st CMBB doesn't work with the latest NVIDIA drivers and I see that as a major problem because there will be a time in the near future we will have to switch to new drivers to run other applications. And it is the only program that doesn’t work on my laptop. (Only a problem when I’m not at home) 2nd very little one, the tanks still fire into hills???. Maybe these 2 bugs can be fixed in the newest patch.

  12. Yeah right. I believe the battle you played against me you surrendered because of lack of knowledge of second world war tanks and of very, very limited view of deploying tanks. Because you always deploy them as one group. No matter how the terrain elements are. Better play the game against the computer because the computer doesn’t mind your arrogance. I think it is better for you to go to a doctor because you have a serious problem “mate”. And just for your information you don’t have to quit RD because you will be kicked out just as before when you played under the Nickname.”HEADSHOT”. Just my advices to all ladders better don’t let this guy enter you competition. Because he will screw it up just like he does in this forum. Normally I don’t let me drag in this kind of childish chat but I’ve seen this al before on Rugged Defence I just wanted to warn you. And to you Old Spike I will not react on any of your messages.
  13. Well I think Gautrek and Saturnin are the best German modders and Mr Nooby is the best Russian modder. Once in a while there is a mod designed by an other that looks very nice. [ March 11, 2003, 02:30 PM: Message edited by: Jaws ]
  14. Yes it funny to see this. But it all depends on the systems a tank has and the way you train your soldiers and last but not least the culture in every country.
  15. I was Tank Commander on Leopard 1, Leopard 2 A4 and an instructor on the Leopard A5 for officers and NCOs. Just at this moment we ( the Dutch Army) is switching to the A6. A Tank Commander will order battle settings for the whole tank depending on the threat analyses. For example: Sabot (when armour threat) 1500m So if we are starting an operation the tank is battle ready and the gun is loaded as all other systems. If he engaged an enemy tank the only thing he shouts is. TANK, FIRE He is able to direct the gunner on the target with a commander joystick and in 1 second the gunner will see the target. This is the sign for the loader to get a new sabot round and load the gun as soon the first shot is fired. The driver will ask for directions depending the situation. It is not necessary anymore to stop the tank because of the modern techniques. The gunner will call AIMED and then shout I FIRE. If it is a hit the commander will shout CANON STOP otherwise he will call REAPEAT FIRE and so on. Of course in the Second World War they had other techniques. For example the commander had to direct the gunner in a 12 hour direction. So a command was as follows. STOP, (driver will stop) 1o CLOCK, (action for gunner) TURN RIGHT, (action for gunner) HEAT, (action for loader) ADJUST RANGE, (action for gunner) (there were more types of systems to adjust the range in that time) VEHICLE, (if possible type) AIMED, (call form commander) AIMED, (call from gunner) FIRE, (gunner get his order) I FIRE, (call from gunner to warn the tank crew and sit tight) MINUS or PLUS or HIT. (Call from anyone of the crew who as able to see the hit) REPEAT FIRE or CANON STOP. Then I saw an interesting documentary over the Battle of Kursk. The Russians just put Tank crews together from all over the country. So a Tank commander told that he was not able to talk with his driver because of their languish barrier. So he had connected 2 ropes on his driver to indicate his intend. If he pulled right the driver turned right and so on. You can imagining the chance of survival of a average Russian tank crew in the Second world war. I can tell you a lot more of this subject but this covered the most important things of the Fire commands in a tank. [ February 28, 2003, 10:19 AM: Message edited by: Jaws ]
  16. I'm from Europe (Netherlands) and really don't like the CDV version. If the Germans have problems with the SS crap please let it be their problem and not the rest of Europe. I’ve ordered my version via, via in the USA. So my option stick to the old plan of ordering or find an other distributor.
  17. I never had this problem on my Gforce 4 TI4600 (128 mb). But it broke down this weekend and I now have a temporary Gforce 4 MX 440. And yes black screens all the way. So I guess the problem is the memory on the card and the reduced capacity from cheaper or older cards.
  18. Still alive Christmas battle vs Dirty Mark Turn 21 of 38 Rearguard battle vs Shock Trooper turn 23 of 40 And only waiting for a rematch against you
