  3. First I must say I don't now anything about the codes and other formulas the guys from battlefront put in the CM series. But what I do know is how things work out in real world army's. And I can tell you that things where you think this is a 100% good solution or plan, never works out as you aspect (and not just because of poor leadership). This means that if you make plan you always must make a "what if" scenario or a “backup” plan and never count on 1 or 2 units to win a battle. I think the people from Battlefront simulated these aspects very good in CMBO but even better with CMBB. [ August 10, 2003, 11:22 AM: Message edited by: Jaws ]

  5. I agree on “the use truck with good road” statement. But my problem with that is when I play against an other human 9 out of 10 it is a QB game. And we never know if, and when there are roads, how they are situated on the map. [ August 03, 2003, 06:58 PM: Message edited by: Jaws ]
  6. I agree about the gamey thing I didn't realize that. About halftrack being rare I think that most of the equipment in the CM series were rare but we don't want to end up with infantry and trucks only in CMAK isn't it. [ August 02, 2003, 10:57 AM: Message edited by: Jaws ]
  7. Well half-track are also good to suppress infantry and you can use them as scout cars the trucks are waste after they delivered there cargo. And yes I also buy trucks to play realistic.
  8. Just a question, are there people who give there money to buy trucks?? And if so how do you use them? My problem with trucks is they are vulnerable, slow in speed and it cost a lot of time before they carry out orders. Of course they must be part of CM but maybe we can speed things up a little to attach them to an HQ or something??
  9. Just use fist the " key and then the a key and what you will get is ä. So you don't need another keyboard.
  10. Thanks for what you have done for the community. Wyatt I wish you good luck with your new task.
  11. Welcome back Poor Old Spike, Head Shot etc etc. Greetings from Cyberfox he likes you models. B.t.w. can you give us a hind in with personality you are this time??
  12. Gamey..... Is that when someone looses a game and than want to find a justification for his loosing?? And calling his opponent a gamey player?? Well in my opinion we must learn from every battle we loose. Ok it's not fun loosing but if I loose a battle due gamey tactics the next time it won’t happen to me again. For example if some one use 4 tiger tanks in August 1942 I basically make a plan to destroy that with AT guns and ambushes. Of course I don't no if my opponent is going to buy that Tigers but in my back pocket I buy some assets to destroy those Tigers. Same as planning pre planed arty in set-up zones. Just spread your man and put them in any cover you can find. It never cost me that much troops that I wasn't able to fight on. This week I was suppriced by someone who blows up the only three bridges over a river with charges.... Yep I still learn every day. What I'm trying to say is that's what make CM fun for me and that's why I still play this game after 3 years and there no other game that hold out that long. 13. Hey they got the database of all those vehicles so put it in CMAK.
  14. I have to disagree with this at some level. In one exercise during my army days we were fighting some T-72's with our T-55's and my wingman drove into a "minefield". The exercise "referees" determined that the tank was okay, but had lost a track. T-72's were about 500m away behind a hill out of LOS and we had my other wingman covering us, so we drove right behind the immobilized tank and it's loader came out through the bottom hatch and connected our towing cables and we towed the tank to a safer location. So, my point is, unless a bogged tank is under fire from heavy weapons or significant amounts of small arms fire, it is possible to tow it with another tank during the battle. The time needed for the towing would be probably in most cases around 15-20 minutes, so it's in the CM timeframe especially if you're playing a longer scenario. Of course the tank that had lost it's track would be immobilised for a long time since getting a new track during a battle is quite difficult and installing it would probably take at least half an hour even if the damage is light and several hours and a repair crew in the worst cases. But if the tank is only bogged and the towing tank has enough power to pull it out (in the worst cases you would need two tanks doing the towing) then the bogged tank would be operational as soon as it was pulled out. Just my opinion. </font>
  15. I'm playing CM since the start and yes today it happened again. My reserve of 3x T-34 got bogged on a beautiful day with dry ground??? I need those guys and hope this problem will be solved in CMAK or CMX2. So I like a recovery vehicle or an option to push other vehicles out of there bogged position.
  16. Lucky is part of the game. But scouts and reserves can do the job in most battles.
  17. Well I didn’t buy the 42"screen... because I have no space in my house where I can put such a big screen... But I wish you good luck and a lot of fun with your system.
  18. Good point. No bonuses for hiding Hq's. Properly in 1.04, CMAK or CMX2.
  19. I defended a small village with a infantry platoon a mg 42. It was night and I a sight of about 175 meter. To hold that position I set up a strong point behind it on a small tree covered hill with a AT 50mm canon, 2 mg 42, Hq, sniper and a arty spotter. It was possible from that position to support the infantry platoon. I really had the idea that this village was unbeatable. Well in turn 5 suddenly a T-34 stood if front of my strongpoint... and fired 1 single shot canister. And not a single unit was able to fight that battle anymore. And yes this was my first experience with canister and night fighting.
  20. We were all driving in a Volkswagen. And that’s much better than the car I now have.
  21. Nice story... b.t.w. I sawh a documentary about Kursk. And yes a Russian commander told exactly the same about mixed tank crews. He instructed his driver with ropes on his left a right arm for the direction he must drive. [ May 31, 2003, 02:05 PM: Message edited by: Jaws ]
