Yes they did. In fact, the Germans designed the Panzerschreck from captured Russian Lend-Lease bazookas. I don't know much about their use/effectiveness in Russian service though. Maybe one of the grogs can enlighten us?

Nice site! Some mods I haven't seen before either. Hope to see some of the mods uploaded to here from the inaccessible sites. GJK, maybe you can upload some of yours to here?

Tom's Combat Mission...
Sgt. Steiner replied to Rob Murray's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Tom's is a VERY nice site. All the pages load perfectly and fast (even on my dial-up). Only problem is the mods; none of the ones from the site's ftp will download. I hope this eventually gets fixed, as the mods shown look great... -
For GJK: I can access the "garykrockover.com" portion of your website, but the /cmbb part comes back with a 404 error - not found on this server. Is there some way to get there, or am I just out of luck?

MODS a couple of 'em !!!
Sgt. Steiner replied to rksoldat's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
RKSoldat: any way you can make a Balkankreuz icon for those of us not particularly enamored of the swastika? Great job on your icon mods; keep 'em coming! -
Tom's Combat Mission...
Sgt. Steiner replied to Rob Murray's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Yeah, the only mods on his site I've been able to D/L are linked to places other than the Militarygameronline ftp. For Mr. Noobie: any way you can get your mods posted somewhere they can actually be downloaded? -
Thanks for the reply! Great to hear that the old mod packs will now take the form of game updates (patches). I think I'll wait on installing all the mods I'm collecting until the v1.01 update arrives..

Hi all. Have been gone from the forums quite a while now (got tired of CMBO finally). Waiting for my copy of CMBB to arrive.. This for Mad Matt: will you be releasing any mod packs for CMBB, as you did for CMBO? I also hope subdued terrain, etc CMBB mods will be forthcoming. Anyway, looking forward to dealing with Uncle Joe's minions..

When did WWII become WWII?
Sgt. Steiner replied to Gyrene's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
FYI, it could not be truly said to be a world war until 10 December 1941. After the Japanese attack of 7 December, President Roosevelt only asked for a declaration of war against Japan. So at that point you had 2 separate wars going on, one in Europe, and one in the Pacific. For 3 days after Pearl Harbor, Hitler studied his options, and finally decided he was bound to uphold his end of the pact with Japan (although the Japanese had no such intentions of honoring their end had the Germans attacked the US first). So with the German declaration of war on 10 Dec, it finally could be considered WW2 (still not sure exactly when everyone started calling it that).. -
I tend to agree with LimShady on the probable cause of Wittman's demise. Wittman's Tiger still exists BTW, and is kept in some farmer's barn in France. Recent analysis of the wreck points to air to ground rockets being the culprit, not a Firefly's 17-pounder.. The Tiger mod looks like the one just put up at Der Kessel website. Available in either panzer grey or dark yellow. Kitty: When will your KT mod be out?
Sgt. Steiner replied to Sgt. Steiner's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Thanks a bundle, Kitty! I'm off to check the Outpost for your KT. BTW, do you have any plans for a Tiger I or Panther? I'm sure they would be as incredible as the KT.. Fun Fact: Patton won the battle of Kursk?
Sgt. Steiner replied to Jasper's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
The intelligence source was indeed "Lucy". Although many now believe that Lucy was a front for Ultra decrypts, in order to pass the Soviets the information without letting them know that the Allies had cracked the Enigma codes.. Haunted King Tiger! (OT)
Sgt. Steiner replied to Guy w/gun's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I have read the story of the WW1 U-Boat haunting. I cannot recall the exact details, (or where I read it), but from what little I recall, the ghost was one of the U-Boat's crewmen who was somehow trapped topside prior to submerging. Supposedly, the crew would then hear banging noises and other manifestations when the boat was submerged. The U-boat in question was later lost in a minefield (I think). Once again, I don't recall the exact source, but according to the story the whole incident was well documented. Dang! Now you've got me wanting to find out where I first saw it! The Blendkörper can be seen in action in the German Army training film "Männer gegen Panzer" (Men against Tanks). Actually, SSI still exists. Some of the guys may have left the company, but the parent company hasn't gone away. As an example, Silent Hunter II is still on track for release, and under the SSI label. As are Pool of Radiance II and a new flight simulator using the Flanker 2.0 engine (don't quote me on that last one). OT: Saving Private Ryan Amazing on DVD
Sgt. Steiner replied to Stealth's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Wally World is the worst place to go for DVD. The 'Net is much better. Cheaper per title, and infinitely better selection. Reel.com is a good place to start for Internet DVD. I've gotten Cross of Iron, Kelly's Heroes, All Quiet on the Western Front ('79 version), and many others. Try finding any of those at Wally World!
