  1. Hmmm . . . I wonder when the next installment is coming . . . ? I might have to go and re-read the JasonC/Dorosh SMG AAR . . . Gpig
  2. Heya . . . I noticed in one of the online interviews given regarding CMAK, Martin (or was it Kwazydog) mentioned that with a bit of noodling/modding you could get some good Pacific Theatre scenarios going. Palm trees, sand, water . . . viola! Couple of questions . . . Who was it that built the CMBO Pacific mod? Did they create any scenarios? I'm interested in Japanese OOB/TO&E sources since I know next to nothing about the Japanese army. I'm keen to do a battle/operation on The Attack on Buna (From the Papuan Campaign). Would anyone be interested in slogging through jungle and swamps to assault wire, trenches and MG bunkers with weakened troops in hot and humid weather? Sounds sick, I know. I am still keen to do it. Unless, it's been done already. heh heh. Gpig
  3. Yup. Works for me. Though I hardly ever use it. I like to plot my HULLDOWN positions by sight. Not by tool. But yes, just pick the reference point on the enemy's terrain that you want to be HULLDOWN in relation to, and plop that SEEK HULLDOWN waypoint right there. Hope that works for yah. Gpig
  4. Or how about this . . . ? Moving your Grant/Lee tank up with MOVE to CONTACT or HUNT. At the same time you have a COVERED ARC for you 75mm towards the palm trees at your right (infantry sounds) and an ARMORED COVERED ARC for you 37mm to your front left, where you spotted that italian tank a few minutes ago. Two covered arcs for each multi-turreted vehicle? FREAKY, man! Gpig
  5. I actually prefer the dug in vehicles as armored train, than vehicles on impassible terrain. In "Taking the Train," the dug-in tanks are obviously ON the tracks. This helps with the illusion of the train. Also, the tracks are elevated so they are a bit higher than the surrounding terrain. This helps to make it easier to spot and target (which seems realistic). And besides, once spotted, the armored train is NOT turning out to be much of a problem to dispose of. Good fun though! I think that the vehicles on rough terrain would sort of lose the visual fiction of an armored train. Also, you'd end up getting track hits and such. Immobilizations. Along this line of thinking, you could line up some SMALL, HEAVY buildings and place AT guns in them. That might work more like an armored train. (But it would just look like a line of heavy buildings.) Gpig
  6. I am currently playing TAKING the TRAIN . . . SPOILERS!!! , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , Hrumph! This is fun, but I have been labelled upside my noggin by two VERY sturdy heavy AA platforms. These guys HAVE to be fanatic!!! I dropped two full loads of 82mm (or is that 81mm) HE from my 251/2's on them, PLUS rushed them with 4 PzIII's and now I'm directing fire from 4 squads of infantry and a STUG III apon one of them. Results? 4 dead PzIII's. 2 EMPTY 250/2's 2 PINNNED squads at HALF strength. 1 dead Pz IV (from over 800m!) I just cannot take these brutes out!!! It is going to cost me the battle. I love it! Gpig
  7. Hmmm . . . Are you giving them a FAST order and ending with a turn (also using FAST orders) towards the enemy position? This is what always caused problems for me in the past. Even though the new patch fixed it (or so I thought) I always "slow down" my tanks for the final turn. In other words, I go FAST and then MOVE MOVE into the turn towards the enemy. Also, I used to sometimes mistakenly issue a REVERSE as my last waypoint instead of ROTATE. This MAY be what is happening if it is nothing else. Good luck! Gpig
  8. Hmmm. This "was" a big problem for a previous patch, but I think it was fixed with the latest patch. Tanks no longer "over-shoot" thier last FAST waypoint and try and correct backwards. At least, I have not seen it happen since the new patch. This MAY be what's happening to you. Gpig GET THE PATCH! P.S. also, make sure you have not accidentally issued a REVERSE command in place of ROTATE. heh. I am sure you didn't but it never hurts to check.
  9. Hey Dan! Nice work!! Awesome stuff. I had a quick question for you. Do you know if those shadows under the tanks/vehicles could ever be darker? Or is that a hard-coded thingy?? Thanks for your time (and all your excellent work). Gpig
  10. Are those CRUSADER's (is that what they were called?) in the background, behind the Desert Rat's Stuart? Love it!!! Gpig
  11. Oh BOY!! I LOVE it! My only MINOR gripe-age is that the shadows under the vehicles are just too light. Especially for in the desert. The shadows should be at LEAST as dark as the shadows-bitmaps we can see on the tank hulls (under the tracks/fenders and around the running gear. It looks plenty dark down there.) I wonder if this is even change-able for this engine? P.S. Remeber that modder who gave us all those great mods where the vehicles sides were shaded darker? Who was that mod-man, anyways? Gpig LOVE IT!!!!! [ August 21, 2003, 06:27 PM: Message edited by: Gpig ]
  12. Heh heh. About a week after CMAK comes out, there is going to be 10 "Sahara" scenarios uploaded at the scenario depot. I know one of them is going to be mine! Do you remember the part in the movie where the 20mm (or is it 37mm) turret take out that messershmidt? Wasn't it with one shot, as well? Memory fading . . . Hee hee, can't wait! Gpig
  13. Well . . . you gotta build that skeleton one BONE at a time . . . The screenshot-bone's connected to the, feature-list bone . . . The feature-list bone's connected to the, AAR-bone . . . The AAR-bone's connected to the DEMO-bone so RIDE, CMAK, ride! (I'm still a little twizzly from my "madmatt" brush-by . . .) Gpig P.S. I cannot form a kissy smiley due to "jaw-dropped-open" syndrome.
  14. . . . he wrote to me . . . I am never going to wash these eyes again . . . Gpig
  15. Ouch, my AZZZZZ! Who let the dogs out? Gpig
  16. Read the manual, Wolfnutts. It's all in there . . . Gpig
  17. Hmmm . . . I am not sure what you are specifically asking about but I'll take a stab at it. You might want to try and pin bubbles with any onboard mortars and HMG's available. If your front line platoon is also engaged that will only help. then I'd attempt to run a flanking platoon round the right side (using some smoke if you have any), through those trees, there. Then bubbles (I didn't know bubbles was a russian name) should fall within a couple of turns. Hope that helps. Gpig
  18. It would seem you accidentally selected the "Ceasefire" button. Even if you are SURE you did not . . . you pretty much must have. I have done this, as well. Gpig
  19. BING!!!! Darn straight! People were asking for a beta-AAR for CMBB, and there were a couple . . . but they ranked very high on the "tease" scale. A nice CMAK AAR (or one for each theatre) would be SOOOOOooooo appreciated! Gpig P.S. Good thinking there, Donan. (Mr Donan, that is. Member number 148!)
  20. Awesome!! heh. I would guess that tanks can become fanatic . . . but have no certainty on the matter. Gpig
  21. I cannot access your website from work. Could you please email me your scenario? jon@pixar.com Thanks! Gpig
  22. eagerly anticipating that first screenshot of the Grant/Lee tank . . . heh heh Gpig
