Arty Spotter In Command Bonuses
86smopuim replied to Col Deadmarsh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
"In my experience having an FO in CC does usually make for longer delays, not shorter ones as the commanding units experience levels are imposed on the FO." I am unsure if this is true. However a crack FO, NOT in c & c, fires faster than a regular FO in c&c 2 stars commander. A regular FO is greatly helped by having stars. Buying elite, crack, or even veteran arty is a serious gamble unlikely to pay off. -
Sneak Preview in Southern California

How is the old car market in california? Seriously.. I want to sell an 67 olds 442, and I hear you can get more in cali then here. Cash + roadtrip + CMBB sounds like a good deal to me. -
Arty Spotter In Command Bonuses
86smopuim replied to Col Deadmarsh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
"Does having an arty spotter in command of a HQ with Combat bonuses make for a tighter barrage or one with more losses by the enemy?" No, not for off board artillery. If an arty spotter is NOT in C&C, the time to target is very adversly affected. A 2 min target time will most the time start after 4 minutes. For on board, indirect fire, the units will hitter tighter and faster, which will make more casutlies. -
pbem attachment size question...
86smopuim replied to Prinz Eugen's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
yahoo is letting me have 6 megs at a time. you could setup a personal ftp or webserver. Not for the unknowledgable. Other than that, there is not an easy solution. -
It's more than LOS/No LOS. A spotter not in command control often takes TWICE as long as the stated time to fire. If he is moving, the same is true. Even in command control, a spotter often takes up to 100% extra time to actual firing. The key is to have those extra stars on the commander. Even with a 2 star commander, I see a 50% drift in actual time to fire. Sometimes a -50% drift too .

Can you speak of any new terrain types?

I dont know if this would help CMBB along at all, but its worth a shot... I like checking the name of my HQ units/squad leaders. CMBO has an impressive array. I imagine CMBB would need an even more impressive array. It sure would be cool to have a fitting name that meant something to you, while in game. my suggestions for names are Commissar Dotsky From A/SL 8 -2? political officer. Many happy memories Lt Stahler From A/SL 9 -2? Leader, many happy memories Col Klink,Sgt Schultz, HAHAHHA Tito Yugoslavian partizan Ceausescu Who wouldn't want to see this bastard 'Eliminated'(romania) more? I was kinda wondering about tank battles. how many shots at what range did it take to score a hit? Same as CMBO, more, less??? I know, many factors involved there, but some examples would be nice...

http://www.winzip.com/downauto.cgi?winzip81.exe that link should get you the evaluation version. as said above, when asked on install, use the "classic intferace". for all other questions asked, use the default settings. [ July 05, 2002, 11:08 PM: Message edited by: 86smopuim ] -
"Whos your daddy punk?"
86smopuim replied to CombatGeneral's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
"I just played a game and I lost. Then this guy said "whos your daddy punk?" What the hell sort of drug addicted, teenage punk rock..." No no no!!! M&M has nothing to do with punk rock. To defend the honor of the music and people known as punk rock(ers), I do here by throw down the gauntlet to you sir! -
You didnt by chance NOT have a password for this game? If so your opponent could have redone the tturn, thereby getting differetn results.

How to counter Ari Maenpaa?
86smopuim replied to John Kettler's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Hijacked. I have used grid mod forever. -
In a recent game I played, my opponent moved a tank thru a dead HMC. The tank and dead hmc were not in LOS to me. I knew the tank was there because i saw the dead hmc inexplicably moving. It was the tank pushing the hmc out of its way. Not only did I "spot" a previously unknown tank, but I got some good intel on direction tank was going.

I had a remarkably similar situation as the orignal poster of this thread. My work arround was: download demo install 1.2 patch. toss my scrathed cd in drive. CM works. I just cant read from certain sectors.
