  1. Pak40: "I don't know what BTS's policy is but I'd be willing to bet they'd replace the CD for a small fee to cover the cost of shipping and material, so long as you sent the scratched CD first." Well, it was damaged due to my poor packing. I blame myself for the damage. I wouldn't dream of asking for a break due to a mistake I made. I'll chalk it up as a life lesson and buy another. I do have a bit more money that I made out, anyway.
  2. Thanks for the help, Schrullenhaft, but I had tried manually copying CD to another folder previously. Same result. The disc is damaged. No biggie. I don't mind supporting quality work. Haven't been here in a while. Was a lurker mostly. Almost unbelieveable to see over a quater of a million posts here. Simply amazing. So between all of this posting, have you guys figured out who killed Kennedy?
  3. Never uninstall CM. Bought copy of CM a year ago (8/16 to be exact...still have receipt). Had small hard drive at that time. Over time, HD gets full. Finally had to make room for stuff. Uninstalled CM for space (hey, I had to!). Two months ago, bought new 40 Gig HD. I have "real estate" to spare now. Begin looking for Combat Mission CD...find in in old storage box (I had moved since I purchased). Did not think to place CD in jewel case before moving. Tried to install. Stops halfway through installation. Try again. Same thing. Frustration mounts. Take out CD. Inspect it. DEEP SCRATCH ON SURFACE! Panic! Run to Comp-USA, purchase CD scratch remover. Polish Combat Mission CD to fine metallic finish. Scratch still looks bad. Try to install, cross fingers...no go. Data obviously corrupted due to scratch. Reality sets in...just bought house, funds low. Wait...my "savings account"! The plastic jug full of change collected over the past year! Dump change out, begin counting. Excellent! Enough to purchase another Combat Mission CD. Placing order Friday! Lesson learned. Spent an hour making cover for new CD using America Online CD cases they always send in the mail, the DVD-style ones. CM disk will now bask in glory (and protection) with own case next to collection of WW2 books. Never...never uninstall Combat Mission! [ 08-22-2001: Message edited by: *Jay* ]
