It did take out a panther and a halftrack, but only two passes. And it wasn't getting any AA fire. WTF?

Be happy it took out that Panther tank. Now he can fly home to England and brag to the Red Cross Nurses about how brave he is. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 2. My vote would have to be either for the ugly WWI holdover the FT-17 or the KV-2. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Waxx_IK: Mine would have to be the pershing and the tiger.

It's not in CMBO but I always liked the M3 H/T that mounted the 75mm gun. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by Dschugaschwili: A Sherman 75 can't kill a Panther at 500m except for weak spot penetrations. Even a 76 has problems at this range. Dschugaschwili

In one of my battles I had my Hetzer and my opponents M4(76) squared off at a range of 30 meters. The M4(76) bounced three shells of the of Hetzer armor before the Hetzer torched it. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."

 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Sven: Is it possible to use HQs or other units to spot for i.e. a Wespe? It would be nice, since it would get the Wespe out of the heat.

I think that the small scale of most of the battles would be inside the minumum range of indirect fired 105mm and 150mm howitzers. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 7. CNET gave Squad Leader a 4 out 10. "The poor graphics lack the visual realism of something like Combat Mission yet also fail to capture the "miniatures at war" effect of Rising Sun." doh! ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 8. I know technically it is not a tank but my vote would have to be the Hetzer. Well sloped armor and a decent gun. I even had one survive two point blank 76mm hits once and go on to destroy the tank that hit it and survive the remainder of the battle. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Juju: Hi Jackson For me? From say, one week to maybe two months or more (yes, it happens...), depending on the number of turns and the file-return speed of your PBEM partner.

Same here. Usually about two weeks for an average game. The guys I am playing are good at getting at least one turn done per day though. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."

 12.
quote:
Originally posted by Phoenix: Airwar - I can't recall who made it, but I had it. It was incredibly complex. It modeled modern jet aircraft. A friend of mine and I spent some 10 hours one day trying to learn the basics of flying and shooting. When we finally got a dog fight going I ended up pulling a manuever where I lost like 8000 feet of altitude. The bummer was I was at 6000 feet when I did it. If I recall, AH's, Third Reich was a nightmare as well. Went through the rules once and gave up. ASL is certainly one of the most complex board games I ever saw.

I think GDW (Game Designers Workshop) made it. Right now my copy is in a box in the closet, along with the Air-to-Ground version Air Strike. In my opinion The Longest Day should be on the list it might not be the most complex game but it was the longest. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 13. Come to think of it I haven't seen her in at least 70 QBs.... ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 14. I have discovered that is possible to keep my wife happy and play CMBO. I just had to give her the Victoria's Secret credit cards. Now, will I have any money left to buy CM2???? ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Sharpie: Could any of you tell me which of these CM ladders is the most popular or the one which is recognized as the best so to speak?

I am registered on The Grognards and Rugged Defense. Both of those are good for finding players, but you really need to be willing to do some of the leg work to get a game started. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."

 17.
quote:
Originally posted by jpinard: Any of you play Falcon 4.0? We all hate Hasbro from that debacle. I don't understand why they bought Microprose just to drive them into the ground. Now Microprose will never have any respect.

Yeah, I played Falcon 4.0, for awhile. I am worried about what is going to happen to B-17II. I am really looking forward to that game and I heard that it has been delayed. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 18. In one battle a buttoned M4 drove past one of my Pz-IV, that was in scattered trees. As the M4 passes the German tank crew calmly rotated the turret and fired at a range of 4m. The Sherman went exploded nicely and caused the Pz-IV to button-up. When I zoomed in on this it, looked like the barrel of the Pz-IV was touching the turret of the Sherman as it fired. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by Juardis: Not, definitely not the JT or Stug, maybe a Wespe though. It had the distinguished "El Camino" (U.S. made automobile) look with the Big freakin gun coming out of the cab. If all surviving Ferdinands were sent to Italy, then it's most likely I mis-identified or the History channel put the wrong footage in. Thanks. I can't wait to play with them. For some reason, the Ferdinand is one of my favorites (maybe it's that big freakin' gun ).

Hmm...big, slow, limited field of fire hull machinegun. Where is my flamethrower team? ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Juardis: I was watching the History channel Sunday when a commercial came on about an upcoming show and they were showing b&w war footage. The topic was western front battles (the Bulge I think) and what I saw looked like a Ferdinand. Did the elephant make it into any Bulge battles or was I seeing things?

According to Jane's all of the surviving Elephant's were sent to the Italian theater. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 21.
quote:
Originally posted by *Captain Foobar*: I will probably buy the game. I loved pg2, it was just really fun...

I think you need PG3 to run Scorched Earth. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
 22.
quote:
Originally posted by *Captain Foobar*: I was loitering around the local videogame hut, Frye's Electronics today, and in between my sarcstic comments to prospective customers, (along the lines of "Oh Deer Hunter...nice choice..") I noticed a box labeled "Panzer Geneneral 3, Scorched Earth." Apparently an incarnation of the 1st PG3D in Russia. I loved PG2, played it until I was terribly bored. Has anyone seen this, bought this, or feigned interest? What are your thoughts?

Ohh....Fry's...an evil money pit if ever there was one (Incredible Universe was better IMHO). Apparently PG3,Scorched Earth is not much better it just adds the Russian Front to PG3. ------------------ Navare "I am determined to prove a villian..."
