  1. I have mastered the surrender to Meeks by turn 5 technique, and would be happy to teach anyone (for a nominal fee, of course).
  2. If??? we like it? This is great. I've learned more just reading your report, than I have in a handful of games. Keep it coming
  3. Close, it's a hunt command up the hill, stopping so that the gun clears the crest of the hill and has LOS. In the same turn a reverse order is issued after the hunt. It works like this. The tank hunts up the hill. Because it will hunt, it will engage targets as soon as it has LOS. Then after the hunt order is completed, it will reverse back down into cover.
  4. WooHoo! I made a suggestion, and it's implemented same day! Best service I've ever gotten. While I'm on a hot streak... I want a "Dig-in" option in the game, so my infantry can dig themselves new foxholes. Any chance that can be in by tonight fellas? Thanks! Get that tournament up and running yobobobobobobobo. I feel the need, the need for speed!
  5. Sort them by rank or games played then. That way, if you're scrolling down the list, there is a reason for it other than to look to play someone named Zartan. This would make a sensible order instead of the haphazard one there now. Then perhaps the search feature could be enhanced to find specific people.
  6. The surrender has to be issued in the Orders Phase...thus they can't actually surrender until the action phase carries out the surrender order. Or at least that's my take on it.
  7. Hey Bruno, one thing I stumbled on a couple of days ago is the labels command. It shows status labels on the map for any unit who isn't in good shape, be it paniced, routed, eliminated, jammed, bogged, abandoned...you get the drift. My point is that this would certainly help you find an eliminated squad, if you think that may be the problem. The other two options are cycling with the + and - keys through all units, or drawing the big box on the screen and seeing what gets selected. I figure you probably knew all of this already, but I doubt you're gonna get your OOB like you want, so here's the alternative.
  8. I have yet to be disappointed in the M8 Greyhound. Has knocked out anything I can imagine, and it's speed get's it into and out of harm's way in a hurry. Plus it has a huge ammo load. Even though it's 37mm, I always have one or two.
  9. ya, talk about obsessed...after returning 6 pbems last night, I created a QB so that I could further hone my skills on the whetstone that is the Waffen SS. In between every turn, I hit escape to minimize CM (love that feature) and checked my mail for incoming pbem...EVERY TURN! Then when my wife managed to get my attention (she's sick) I quit to keep her company and basically fell asleep running the different pbems through my head. sick, sick, sick.
  10. The most recently posted to threads float to the top. If you're thread hits page 2 then many people (I don't) bother to look past the first page. Posting a 'bump' message artificially gets your post to the top of page 1, where it will get more notice. People often do it if they have a message they really want people to see, or have a question that they want answered, but haven't heard anything yet. make sense?
  11. Hey, I'll admit it...every now and then I'll play another game. Every 6 months or so a group of us get together for a LAN party and play Unreal Tournament. That is great since it involves live vaporisation of the person next to you. But once the TCP/IP patch comes out, we may be playing CM at the parties too. At home, there is no other game.
  12. BA in English, and a minor in watching football. Was a great 4 years to be there.
  13. I suppose you're going to say that there's now way for average moron's like myself to get one of those? What if I had a relative that fought in Europe (if not in one of those battles)? My wife's grandfather was in the 10th armored division. Arrived at the Battle of the Bulge the day after it ended. He said you could see the blood on the snow from miles away. Said a lot of other things too. Chilling, really. Back to my point...can he get them?
  14. Well if any of you remember the 14 year old using the warez copy of the game, then you know it's one copy less than it should be.
  15. As for M being Model, that's good info. I didn't know and that makes perfect sense. As for the rest about sequenceing...that's the explanation that I guessed at, figuring it couldn't be true because it made little sense. But now that you mention the US DoD, it's all so much clearer now. Thanks for the info.
  16. Can someone answer (what I hope to be) a simple question? U.S. arms and armor are assigned names composed of M and a number: M4 Sherman, M8 Greyhound, M16 rifle, M1 rifle. Can 1) someone explain to me where this M comes from and how the number is assigned, and 2) how it is that the M crosses between tanks and rifles. I would expect a different letter for each (so that it's obvious which you're talking about). If I'm not mistaken, isn't there an M1 Abrams tank as well as an M1 Rifle? Just looking for any information I can get. Thanks.
  17. The idea wasn't a get together like those boys in New Yawk are doing, just a pbem challenge, like the not so super bowl tourney that's going around. And Peng, if you're too busy hanging out with that guy who owns the big car graveyard up in Scranton, then I guess I'll understand. As for Doug, I'm PSU class of '96 so you're in! I'll let the thread sit a little longer to see if we can attract any more people, then I'll try to set everything up. No travelling will be necessary. Just thought it would be interesting to whip/be whipped by people a couple of hours away instead of 6 time zones. So anyone else that wants to play, throw your name in or email me and I'll put something together.
  18. ever seen a dolphin trying to swim in that stuff? Their tails aren't nearly powerful enough...they often drown. However, it would be cool to have a drowned dolphin play Mensch's wife and see who wins...could be a battle...either of them would knock the snots out of poor, poor mensch though I'm sure.
