  1. I did not even know there was such a setting, I will look into manual later... What is odd is that there are no obvious branches in the way and the two rounds that hit I presume are AP rounds? So should they have been stopped and would they have stripped the leaves? Also I guess under the hood there is an area that has some holes in it and I managed to find the hole and Jim did not. I don't think I have seen a tree lose all it's leaves, but maybe I have and never noticed it as there is one hell of lot going on in a battle and you tend not to be looking at the trees. Also I tend to have camera mode set to hide leaves when you are close up so we did not even notice it was tree stopping the rounds at first. This battle has become a game of high slope to low slope shots with trees being sued to hide the "tanks".. A very different sort of map than I have been used to playing on and my second ever QB in CMX2 series of games. All good fun unless you have your AP rounds stopped by twigs...
  2. Latest version.... 2.01 I can only think the tree has had it stripped by the first shell that hit, but it was showing as empty at start of video, so maybe a glitch? Maybe a feature of the game... Certainly Odd because if I showed you a screen shot a tad further away those branches would not be there and it would appear as if the shell was exploding mid air...
  3. Me too.... How many sleeps before we get that!!! Ohh well back to your Epic of the "THE ROAD TO......." Still wading my way through that.
  4. In a game that is still going we have just had an interesting situation which might amuse others. It did not amuse my oppo, but he has form for never being amused when we play... Anyway... The Magic Tree The first photo shows the tree in it's full glory.. Magic Tree 35_04 by msj_1, on Flickr That is my shot flying over top of the tree just before the end of the turn... So next minute of video is loaded and the tree has disappeared apart from the trunk. At a distance you can not see the branches as they are lost. Only by close examination did we work out the branches were still there.. This next shot shows the tree stopping a Sherman round... Magic Tree 34_57 by msj_1, on Flickr Of course in the first viewing of this video from a distance my Oppo Was screaming at the screen demanding to know what foul trick I was playing on him... Had I sent a bird to detonate the shell that was surely going to hit my Tank... (Loose word for what I have throwing AP at him) Next shot shows my AP Shell passing tree, also shows nearby tree to show foliage OK on that one... Magic Tree 34_53 by msj_1, on Flickr The he misses again due to tree!!! I could hear the screams 200 miles away... Magic Tree 34_45 by msj_1, on Flickr This last one shows my final AP round that does for his thin turreted Sherman... Magic Tree 34_42 by msj_1, on Flickr Good job Sherman turret hit as at the range I was firing I would have bounced off his hull... So if you see Shells exploding in mid air, it could be down to magic trees who have lost their leafs...
  5. Drool.... This is the module I am waiting for, to relive my Close Combat Mission days....
  6. Nope... All designed as Human vs AI as Allied Human and AI Germans. It takes an incredible amount of time to design AI plans (not that I have ever done any).
  7. Another tip is always put your HQ's on short arc as well. HQ's are absolutely vital to good morale and you don't want them being fired at unless it has gone tits up. So I tend to make sure they are on short arc. Artillery is really key to most battles and you have to learn to avoid it or bring it to bear as it is the real killer on the field, as it was IRL...
  8. Would be interested in how it goes for you... Plenty here to offer help should you need it...
  9. Ohhh As Slysniper says this is rather jumping in at deep end.... Perhaps my earlier remarks need qualifying. It is an excellent (if not the best) campaign but maybe not when learning the game at first. If you take it in that vein and don't become too frustrated as CM does take some time to learn. I would have to think where would be best to learn the basics, not sure if other threads give advice on best scenarios / campaigns to play to cut your teeth on....
  10. The title of this thread is true in that every day that passes makes it closer... You are also closer to your own end....
  11. Latest H2H is my first venture into QB's and force selection which I found quite painful. My Oppo choose the map so I will have to find out name? Unless there is some other way. OK found the name of map which is pretty good. LJF-ME-Small Bocage 03 I can recommend the map. The previous game was an Italian affair so will post on that scenario in the appropriate forum.
  12. There is a thread which discusses some good H2H scenarios but nothing about maps for QB? I will see if I cam bump the H2H thread when I can find it.
  13. The campaign is excellent and anyone reading this thread should invest the time to play it. It really does make the game shine as solo play. I really only used to play Humans as I thought AI pretty easy to beat, this campaign taught me the error of my ways and I really enjoyed the different elements to the linked scenarios. If you are new to the game and want to learn how to play this campaign will challenge you.
  14. This thread shows why it is show hard to code a game to represent real life. Good thread like Diesel I appreciate what people are doing and helping improve what we all enjoy. Thanks
  15. It is a truly great campaign and I am now working (slowly) through the Road to Montebourg which is another epic... A great way to learn the system before playing HtH...
  16. Hi, not sure what you mean? The scenario designer gives some suggested deployments and zones and then if you want you can change where the units are within the specific zones set by the designer. However if you don't like the zones you can always tweak in the scenario design tool...
  17. Also recently played CW In The Shadow of the Hill 5am. I played as the Germans and just managed a win. This is IMO pretty lopsided to the Brits. A good challenging scenario and give the weaker player the Brits. The Germans will struggle if the Brits land their blows well. Not as much cut and thrust as Bloody St Omer or Le Desert. I think these two are the ones for some cracking fun and the CW 5am is a great history lesson where you might be able to pull off a coup if you can get the Germans to win. Some odd design decisions on the size of the map and play area, but it does work and gave a good game....
  18. Just finished playing Bloody St Omer Capelle by Fred Rocker. Well it lives up to the name and was good fun. Slight edge to the Germans so weaker player should get them as it is a pretty tough attack for the Americans. My oppo reckoned balanced I think the Germans could win quite easily if the American attacker gets it wrong. And it is easier for the attacker to get it wrong. Really open map with no major bocage and some interesting LOS with small reverse slopes with minor gradients on map. Well worth playing IMO.
  19. Well you learn something new every day....
  20. Well better late than never... It does take a bit of getting into but I have to say this is the one company I have tried my best to support for over 13 years. They have given me so much pleasure in that time that I would hate to add up all the gaming hours down to their games. A superb system and well worth the effort in learning it... Welcome and playing humans is the way forward...
  21. It is free to me... (and tourists) Well bar prescription charges... But of course the point I was making Taxes pay for the stuff we want as a nation.... Be that Nurses, Soldiers or Sailors....
  22. Before we get carried away at blaming taxes, these are the things that are used to pay for what the country wants as a nation. So in the UK we get free health care. I guess that might be a small price to pay extra shipping costs to get the welfare we do... Anyway a bit off topic....
  23. Thanks for that Steve, I agree with all you say and I have seen shipping costs internal to UK rise year on year. It is a good job we can down load, so one happy customer and looking forward to the new content. I think your post here should be placed as a FAQ on postage charges as it covers all the main points and shows clearly why it is what it is. One good thing has come out of this is I now know how I can get a copy of the first episode of Hatfields and Mcoys. I am guessing the US netflix will have the first episode. The little DNS tweak sounds like just the ticket... I managed to record the rest from C5 but failed to get the first one and have been dithering on how to get the first one...
