  1. also don't confuse the tac ai with the strategic ai. the tac ai will cause a tank or soldier to hide, run, or fire properly, usually at the appropriate time. i leave most targeting decisions to the computer unless there is a really important thing i have to suppress or kill.
  2. Where can I find mods? CMBB MOD Catalogue http://pages.infinit.net/antaress Where can I find scenarios? Scenario Depot
  3. offer to have a forum member's name in it. make it unique in some way: a huge mountain, blow up a bridge, make it really really short, something. provide links in your signature. offer to review a fellow's signature and post an aar if he does the same for you.
  4. people want quick battles because it guarantees an ok quality map with balance. most people like to finish a scenario in one sitting hence the 30 turn common limit. as for lack of reviews: i think a scenario designer should offer to test another designers scenario in exchange. that way they get as many reviews as they can take (given time limits of playing the other guys' scenarios) many good points made above: if you get your butt kicked it may affect scoring the balance. you may think it is you and not the scenario or vice versa. and most of the people have a different opinion on what an "average score" is. i consider a score of 7 to be average, while some may think a 5 is.
  5. i just wish that the newbies would have less than 3 threads open at the same time about the same subject.
  6. did you send an email to moon or madmatt when he listed the contest winners and asked for their emails and addresses?
  7. isn't there a shutoff all play aids hotkey? shift-q or something? look in the hotkey list i am sure it is there.
  8. are the smoking tanks enemy ones? it may be fow
  9. but wait! isn't the track in russia a different gauge?! you'll definitely need to redo this to get it historically correct!!
  10. make a small sacrificial "delaying" force worth no exit points. then have massive waves of enemy tanks and infantry appear to crush them. (like 10x as many as your entire force) that should inspire the player to run the hell away.
  11. so far 0% work has been done. at this rate i guesstimate a complete date at sometime after the events in revelations 3:142: "and yea, russellmz will have some spare time..." actually to be honest since so few people had commented on the original mod (bad timing on my part) i didn't bother to make one for cmbb. however now i am inspired to do something when i get a minute. in the meantime wwb, you can open 10019.bmp and add the splotches yourself. with ms paint even the slowest, shakiest handed guy can make the change in about three minutes. 12. tom, open cmbb, and give a unit a series of waypoints in cmbb. then hit something like 'M' but don't click anywhere. (so you still can move the line around to place the last waypoint and it says stuff like 'open ground' or 'scattered trees'). now pretend your last waypoint sucked. then hit backspace 5 or 6 times like i usually do. then get annoyed, hit spacebar, then hit backspace, then redo waypoint. in cmbo this sequence was: realize last waypoint sucked, hit backspace, redo waypoint.
  13. imagine this: you are starting a nice game of cmbo against someone. they stock up on a couple 20mm's. you bought some shermans and due to your placement, are subject to the fire of ONE 20mm that proceeds to immobilize one and gun damage a second. later on in the game you send some guys into a tall light building. another 20mm opens up and brings down the building in ONE turn before you can get your guys out with a withdrawl command. fun and realistic!
  14. more whining: i hate having to write down the ip address on paper before going to cm to enter it. or if no pen avaliable, having to hit escape every 2-3 numbers(bad memory)
  15. how do i open the cd install file to get at the original bmps? i know there's a limited time use decompressor for that file, but is there a freeware version that has no time limit on when i can use it?
  16. how 'bout yourself? you know html, although with the ubb code, you don't even need that. with enough hard work you can get three or four positive mentions a year!
  17. lol.. i can just see all those infantry moving around ala the matrix. too funny! </font>
  18. your initial draw was not hollow. since it is 45+ turns that means if there is a chance that one side can take the flags after the 45 turns, the game continues. so you hurt them enough the first time that the computer decided not to let the game go on. in the next one they had enough fight left to let the game go on.
  19. http://www.cmb2b.de lindan has jmbunnelle's splash screen and cd cover and also my splash screen.
  20. i painstakingly recreated a map i really liked that i made for cmbo. except for the east edge which had a bunch of hedgerows, so i just tossed some peasant shacks and woods there. bad idea... i have no idea if setup zones are used in a quick battle, but i fired one up anyway. early war, computer pick, axis attack. the germans were ass backwards in the peasant shack area and i got one lucky hit against an enemy tank's rear. then things went badly. the germans recovered quickly and had many smaller tanks (pv ii and iii and armored cars vs my ?ba 40mm? armed armored cars and platoon of t-34s). they went in with some infantry way ahead of them. no hq only rushes, platoons at a time... i am down to ONE t-34 as my main antitank weapon. my infantry is barely holding on and the comp has quite a few afvs around...and plenty of turns left to get me... btw, how does trench work? i had routing infantry that ran over a trench and sought cover elsewhere. does a unit hidden in trench stay 100% invisible like with walls? how are setup zones used if a map is imported into a quick battle? 21. As if the user agreement were actually legal in most countries. Mind oyu hacking the .exe might violate the DMCA if you live in the U.S., but for most "civilised" countries it's not an issue. Not that it's worth doing, in any case, but don't let click through agreements on software worry you. Onnel P.S. I'm not sure it's worth the trouble or how well it would be possible to make it to work in CM in any case. They choose to make a game that is mostly non-moddable (actually just very, very difficult to mod) for their own reasons which have been discussed to death already.</font>
