Most Hits on a Pershing...ever?
Check6 replied to russellmz's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
*No idea why CM's KwK.43 Pzgr.39 MV is rated at 1018m/s it should be 1000m/s. LOL... that's a difference of 18 m/s and less than two percent. -
Your favorite snack while Wargaming (possibly OT)

Dude... over at the RSE forums (this board's only competitor, as far as I'm concerned) there was an apocalyptic flamewar between nacho and mango supporters. It lasted severaly hundred posts and is still discussed in awe today, after over a year and a half. -
I would say WEGO is more difficult. Necessarily, RTS's are dumbed down signicantly to prevent information overload... a turn-based sim can hit the user with both barrels full of decisions and detail and really require some thought.

Ahem. I requested assimilation once before and was ignored; I've been wondering if there's something wrong with me.

Believe it or not - facts about WW2
Check6 replied to Epée's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
"Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Kennedy'." I'm surprised that nobody noticed that this is patently false, unless it's me who missed some detail. Lincoln was shot at Ford's Theater. EDIT: Furthermore, Booth was not captured in a warehouse, he was shot by law enforcement officials in a barn. He was not assassinated. It is also stretching the word "warehouse" to use it for the building Oswald shot from - it was in fact a multi-story "book depository". I'm still checking on the dates. CM, backgammon, and luck on the battlefield
Check6 replied to deanco's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
85% skill, 15% luck. Tough luck can kill you, but usually it can be anticipated. There are those weird instances in which your pillbox takes the first round straight through the firing slit, though. -
And boy, will his mommy be angry then. He might even get a spanking.

HOW DO YOU POST PICTURE's HERE
Check6 replied to JOCHEN PEIPER's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
It is more evidence of how screwed up this child is that he could ask so politely for information to further his goal of polluting this message board with his Nazi crap. "IF NEED BE...." In retrospect it's obvious that he was planning to bring about warfare on this forum for at least several hours in advance. Sicko. -
Edit the operations and set the "no man's land" smaller.

Don't leave, guys. As someone says, that's a victory for JP. Rememeber the law of the echo. JP got his before this board. One day he will hopefully get his before a large, angry Jew, and some time after that he will get his before God. Don't let this incident ruin the forum.

Prairie grass fires (only when dry, I suppose) are actually just about impassable to men because of the density of flammable material and resulting intense flame and heat. The hot air itself would burn a man... imagine opening up your oven when it's on the self-cleaning cycle and putting your head near the door for five or ten seconds. Once a grass fire gets going it is really intense. And as for tanks - I know that I would drive through any kind of flames more than six inches high with the greatest hesitation. I think the grease on the treads would catch very easily. And if you start burning anywhere you're very screwed. It's my opinion that the representation of fire areas is very decent. However, a couple things: Could small fires go out after a bit? Could roads be prevented from catching fire? I think that that is certainly rather unrealistic.

What will you issue your men with?
Check6 replied to Smack's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
My men would have M16A2s. They would also carry Javelin missiles. -

Thomas K, was that a real ambush in a war?

A real genuine Question.....
Check6 replied to JOCHEN PEIPER's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I get the feeling that it would be very hard to slow that system down with anything in CM. P.S. Why not try it out? Can't hurt anything... [This message has been edited by Check6 (edited 09-02-2000).] -
Vehicles' appearance vs. infantry
Check6 replied to patboivin's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
IMO the information is far more important then the presentation. As long as I can say "Hey, that's an infantry squad/team... it has nearly all/about two-thirds/about one-third of its members remaining..." then the graphics are good enough for me. -
BTS.............LISTEN PLEASE....
Check6 replied to JOCHEN PEIPER's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
It annoys me that you call us IMATURE, make inflammatory and insulting remarks and in the same post try to smooth things over. I'll be the first one to forgive you, (although as a newbie I haven't much right or influence in doing so), but the proper tone is important. -
favorite allied artillary?
Check6 replied to streamkeeper's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Interestingly, I dumped two whole batteries of observed 105 fire on the AT bunker in VoT with no effect. That's around 150 rounds. -

Accusation and apology do not sit well together in the same post. -
David, something's wrong with the magazine on that dude's gun. It's upside down. (just kidding) [This message has been edited by Check6 (edited 09-02-2000).]

How did "kipanderson" post to the SB thread nearly half an hour after it was locked? Sorry to clutter up the board with a thread like this but obviously I couldn't post it in the SB one...
-
Are there any good scenarios available that use only units available in the demo?
-
Yes, but I think that tactical victories are better than minor victories. Draw-Minor-Tactical-Major-Total.
