  1. You can always get options for safe mode - just press F8 key after the BIOS opening screen and before it starts loading the OS. While in safe mode you should try to see if you can use the same program to take off the 2x AGP forcing (as I understood from what you wrote, you used some program) If not, then try to uninstall and/or reinstall video card drivers. Also you can get the windows install CD and do repair install. (or whatever it was called) It could be useful to also check your BIOS settings. it should tell the key combination in the first screen that opens up after starting the computer (unless video card prompts its own stuff before the BIOS :>) From there you should try to reset the BIOS settings to defaults (however, before that, you should take up all the settings, so you can set other crucial settings as they were before the reset)
  2. HE and AP(APHE) rounds are different. HE rounds do penetrate armour as well, why else would russians have used 152mm guns for antitank purposes with just HE loadouts If 152mm is capable of beating up Tiger, I'm sure 88mm HE does the same for light tanks and some medium tanks. but most important part of the 'APHE' rounds (AP rounds with HE filler) is to explode after penetration, which will make quite a mess inside the tank, unlike conventional AP round, which does have bit better penetration, but which has much smaller area effect after penetration (spalling/direct hits into critical spots) I don't know what to think of CM's modelling, whether the above mentioned ammo are APHE or AP, when I have so often seen penetrations but still see the tank firing - which indicates it wouldn't have exploded inside the tank - while seeing tanks like T34 making up a havoc in tanks after penetrating. 3. I noticed that Russian T34 has 'large HE charge' and noticed that this wasnt in german tanks. What I know of the german 37L45 KwK 36, 75L24 KwK 37 and 88L56 Flak 36, they had HE charge. I don't have accurate figures for others. KwK 36 had ~13g of PETN. KwK 37 had 80g of Fp02 and 10g of TNT. Flak 36 had 31g of PETN and 117g of Fp10. These HE charges causes considerable difference in the effect after penetration.
  4. AT-Guns are excellent in ambushes. Enemy can see tanks from distance, even if you've hid them behind trees or in scattered trees, but try finding dug-in AT-Gun (or from woods) before it fires. This is very good when trying to lure enemy armour into close ambushes, where the armour will most definately loose to concentrated fire from AT-guns. From longer range it's bit harder, when AT-Guns has more chance to miss and with lesser penetration, but from up close they are excellent. Problem with those in CM is that you can't recrew abandoned AT-Guns. Often the crew leaves their gun even without losses and thats it.. no matter how sensible it would be to recrew the intact, but abandoned cannon.
  5. If you can afford, mortars makes up for great tool when assaulting enemy positions. 50mm mortars doesn't do much more than make the enemy curse, but 81-82mm mortars causes enemy to duck for cover, which is off their firing time and therefore also assaulting troops will be able to fire more at the position when they aren't suppressed by constant fire.
  6. Lahti's were used throughout the war, just not anymore as much in their intented roles as tanks got tougher. Later in the war the use was against pillboxes, MG positions..
  7. Wol, Wait till the next patch.. not all the models were put in, because those didn't fit on single CD.
  8. Try finnish troops.. even rifle platoon runs out of ammo too soon :I
  9. Like those italian tanks.. the whatever number it was again has a turret, when it should be just an assault gun type of tank
  10. Stalin in russian means 'steel' IRC Maybe something like that
  11. During the finnish continuation war, a two seater plane was shot down, pilot who was never found and gunner/observer was found from a friendly minefield - what a sucky day, get shot down, survive it, but get blown up in own minefield.
  12. Good thing I have the US version... I'm familiar with CDV's reputation from before, luckily haven't wasted money in their pockets. Almost as an insult, finnish vehicles doesn't have their crosses in CDV version.. German laws.. are not finnish laws and we want whats ours.. too bad CDV doesn't seem to care that much for other countries.
  13. If it hits that badly at target in the open within 200 meters, how can I expect to hit target which is concealed and most likely in covered position from 500 meters? Mannheim Tanker, It'd be nice if they would have more ammo than just 10 shots.. Rather skilled shooters should be like normal infantrymen but with special weapon.
  14. What is the use of snipers in CM? I find these snipers having too small amount of ammo to have any great impact versus the cost. For same price could get an MG full of ammo and kill loads of enemies, not to talk about the area suppression. With quick tests 'crack' snipers killed on average every second shot from within 200 meters from open ground. I think crack sniper on higher ground should be able to kill an enemy on open ground with one shot 4 times out of 5 shots.
  15. It'd be real nice if you could recrew the guns. Today just cursed when the PaK 40 crew was pinned down by single T34 (who fortunately was under fire by StuG) and just few seconds before T34 got killed, they fled. Then I just told them to go back in their pit and there they sit drinking tea next to their gun
  16. I just played mission, where I had multiple squads with tens of kills. Here is the squad of Alikersantti Torni, 71 casualties and a prisoner, who somehow didn't get killed in the rush In the background are also other squads visible, one with 37, one with 27, one with 43.. and two of them having T34 in their credits (with grenades and molotovs :>)
  17. Finnish swastika actually isn't forbid in german laws, but since most doesn't want to take the risk, they just take everything off which resembles swastika. Germans really should get rid of their paranoidic laws with games..
  18. With a cheap armoured car, you can always go find enemy ambushes in CM and then act accordingly against the threat.
  19. I had a pioneer squad which did cause over 25 casualties, get half dozen POWs and kill 3 tanks. First killed T34, then two BT5's, single handedly. Since they had no more satchels, they skillfully blew the second BT5 with remaining stick grenades.. In same game I had also a squad which had made over 45 casualties.
  20. bigpoppapump, Russians did have some captured panzerfausts/panzershrecks (mostly fausts) and Bazookas as part of the lend lease deals with the western allies.
  21. It should be tested sometime.. I believe it works better on early tanks than later tanks. The idea was to try get the molotov break over the engine deck which wasn't very well protected against something like that in early tanks. ...but as long as you have satchels, you're fine In one game one pioneer group soloed out T34, one BT5 and went to finish off second BT5 which was stuck for some reason after few 20mm from Lahti L39, but refused to be abandoned or knocked out. T34 and BT5 blew up on one satchel and the last BT5 was finished with grenades. Obviously grenades works, at least.. albeit it took few.
  22. Try with normal Tiger crew (at least veteran!) to hit moving T34 from 1000 meters within 3 shots.. will be hard. In real life the T34 would been toast
  23. Ardennes was just one place where it was used. It was also used in western Eifel, east of Bonn, Reichswald... In three different companies.
