  1. BTW, I'm a vet. I know the deal. I would want someone who leads from the FRONT, not the BACK. Nationalistic has nothing to do with it! Keeping your men and buddies alive while accomplishing the mission is the only imperetive when the rounds start going "crack -thump" in your ears. Just my 2 cents, GP

  5. I know this is not the Scenario Forum and I will probably get flamed for this, however... I would like to urge anyone who has downloaded and played scenarios from CMHQ Scenario Depot to please voice your opinion and vote on the scenarios. MadMatt has put in place a very nice rating mechanism, which virtually no one is using! So many of the scenarios are stuck at 3 stars, most by virtue of only one vote! However, if you look at the number of downloads per scenario most are in the hundreds. Is anyone playing these scenarios or are you using them just to fill the bad blocks on your HD? From what I see on these forums this crowd is very opinionated, except when it comes to scenarios! More air time is given to hamsters! Maybe MadMatt should change the rating system from stars to hamsters. Good or bad...please vote. Thanks, groundpounder

  11. The buddy system is essential to your survival. It gives the enemy somebody else to shoot at. Actually you try not to let your buddies down, it's very bad for over all unit moral. When your nuts are in a vice you would like to think your buddies are going to help get them out! In reality what usualy occurs is all other units in the area try to overwhelm the enemy with concentrated firepower long enough to extract said nuts from said vice. Sometimes a unit in dire straights will even call an arty mission right on top of themselves (if I'm a going I'm gonn' take some with me! ). groundpounder
  12. How about including an enhanced map editor that would let you "cut" chunks from maps to be saved as "library" sections that could then be "included" in other maps? Map section rotation would be good too! Oh, Oh, and an adjacent gradient smoothing algorithm! Ah, I better stop here, I'm gettin' all emotional... groundpounder

Select the flags and "place" them like units. I hope that helps. groundpounder

  17. All, "Hell on Horseshoe Hill" has cleared for download at the CMHQ depot, but wait for version 1.02 to clear. Version 1.0 had a SERIOUS LOS problem introduced by a last minute terrain tweak that caused the Americans to be exposed at startup . groundpounder
  18. Keith, Now that I'm done with putting together HoHH I can get back to playing "Bloody Causeway". So far it is kicking my butt (as Alied). Not many scenarios have done that to me (against AI).   19. Pathfinder, You just gotta' see it in your mind first! But I know what you mean. One of the technics I use that helps me is to lable the major grid lines along the perimeter with "landmark" text. Then I will acctualy lay down some of the major grids on the map by painting a lesser used terrain tile (I use wheat fields, they show up well) from one side to the other. Then I place more "landmark" text along some of the major grids (towards map center) so I can always tell where I am on the map. It takes a while to do this but a little time taken at the start realy saves time down the road on those realy big maps. groundpounder

  21. MadMatt, I upgraded to IE5.5 from IE5.1 a few days ago. Seems IE5.5 acts differently when accessing the Depot. Instead of displaying "Opening page..." on the status bar when waiting for the lower frame to load, IE5.5 shows "Done", but the Depot page does load after a few (well, maybe more than a few) seconds.
