  1. Great work Tom! I knew it had to be your handy work when I saw the quality of the artwork! I was ready to burn a mods CD when I saw this post. I'm going to download them now. Vielen Dank! groundpounder
  2. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Bakker@home: Greetings guys, yesterday i made my first scenario ever. It is a fictional scenario where a canadian force tries to seize a dutch bridge in some featureless dutch polder landscape. Small map and reinforced company sized attack force. I wonder if some of you guys could take a look at it and give me some feedback? Thnx in advance. I enjoyed making the scenario and i am planning to further create; -a scenario featuring the german counterattack against the 1st polish armored division in Hulst. -a operation featuring the capture of putte, hogerheide and woensdrecht by the 2nd canadian infantry division during the Antwerp campaign. SO take a look at the 'Polder bridge' in the CMHQ scenario depot and tell me if i should even bother . Grtz S Bakker PS: any sources of maps of NW-belgium/SW-netherlands will be greatly appreciated.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I'll have a go at it Bakker@home. gp
  3. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by lassner.1: I spent the last two days converting an Advanced Squad Leader scenario to CM (Race for the Bridges) and I had play tested it about 5 times against the computer. I was trying to make some changes before giving it to friends to play-test when AHHHHHHHGGG I accidentally deleted the file. Unfortunately I did not notice that I had deleted the file *until I rebooted the computer* so I culd not click "undo" and get the file back. All I was able to recover was the auto-save file which I renamed. But it is still a "save game" file as far as CM is cooncerned so I cannot modify it. Is there **any** way to get the file to change to a modifiable scenario format or am a scr^*ed? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Have you looked in your recycle bin? GP
  4. I realy enjoyed testing this one as well. I have played it from both sides and found it equaly enjoyable. My only regret is that I can never play it as a blind PBEM or TCP! gp
  5. Version 1.01 of "Tiger Woods" released at CMHQ and Toms Combat Mission Headquarters. http://home.germany.net/101-77027/CM/TCMHQ.html This version has increased Allied "Pucker Factor". gp
  6. Crockett, Judge not your RTS brethren, for they know not what they do. Having never partaken of the delights of a satisfying "hull-down" kill they can never imagine what it means to be a CM addict. Now soldier, as far as your indoctrination into the corp. might I suggest you try first some scenarios that are small, so has not to overwhelm you with managing too many units. From CMHQ Scenario Depot you may want to try... 1.Three Little Stuarts. 2. The Pouppeville Exit. 3. Indian Fighting. Hope that gets you started well! gp
  7. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Triggerhappy: Speaking of scenarios: I'm currently working of a fictional scenario in which the Axis player has to defend two bridges. Unfortunately it's too easy for the Germans to hold these bridges versus an AI player although the Allies have a force about three times as big as the Axis. The problem is that the AI player tends to move his forces one by one over the bridges thus being an easy target for the defending infantry and AT guns. Any suggestions? I already tried a search in the Scenario Talk forum but couldn't find any helpful hints. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Triggerhappy, Try giving the Allies a few 81mm mortar spotters with a fare amount of ammo. Hide them in spots where they can see the German AT assets across the river. Then place a Greyhound or other light/scout up front so it will be the first thing seen by the German AT assets. This will most likely cause the German AI to expose his guns so the mortar spotters can lay in some smoke (which the AI does pretty well). Don't use anything larger than the 81mm because the AI likes to save the big stuff for HE rather than smoke. The trick is to space the bulk of the force at the right spot so they cross the bridges just after smoke has been laid down. This will take some experimentation. You may have to setup the forward scouts to take a round right from the start (place them within LOS of the German guns at the start). Also provide good tree coverage around the bridge approaches (but not too much as to restrict movement and cause a traffic jam). I'm looking forward to seeing your scenario, GP
  8. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Stealth: I had a blast with this scenario! There were especially tense moments when I was moving to engage the Germans, I had my infantry out in front and put a couple Shermans on some high ground with a good LOS. Lo and behold the Tiger slowly came around a curve in the road about 150m from the hill my Shermans were on. I was holding my breath to see who would get off the first round as the turrets of the the Shermans and the Tiger started rotating towards each other. I actually did a few screen captures, but I can't post them here because they could be considered spoilers. I have to say there werea couple NASTY surprises . The screen captures document the aftermath of them.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I'm glad the scenario provided you some good "pucker factor"! I would love to see the last autosave. You could email it to me if you are so inclined. As always, I welcome constructive criticism in order to make the scenario better for all. Thanks again for the feed back! GP
  9. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by massimorocca: Yes the 1.1 scenarios are unvisible for the game if you are still in 1.05. I've the same problem, they are here I can see it but they aren't in the scenario starting list.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Yup, Massimorocca is right. I made the mistake of creating "Tiger Woods" with the 1.1b version of CM. It can't even be loaded by the 1.05 scenario editor. I have asked BTS in another posting if there is anyway to convert it back to 1.05. Kwazydog says there is no way. Sorry for the heartburn guys. GP
  10. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by 109 Gustav: It sounds like you're too late this time, but your best bet is to keep both a 1.05 and 1.1 Combat Mission .exe file in your CM folder. That way, you can create games in one, play them in the other, or whatever. There'll be times when you'll find that you need the older version. I still have 1.03 around for viewing AAR movie files. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Good suggestion Gustav. I think I will take that approach from now on. Thanks, GP
  11. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by KwazyDog: Unfortuantely there is no process I know of to do this groundpounder. Dan<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> The problem is that I have created a scenario with the 1.1b version. So it can not be played with 1.05. If the structure of the .cmb file has not changed from 1.05 to 1.1b then it should be a simple hex edit of the version string to back rev it. All I should need to do this is; 1. Offset of version string (or whatever data type) 2. Data type (and hence the length) 3. Value GP
  12. Stealth, Thanks very much for the feedback! Yes the woods do make for some interesting armor shots. As in urban fighting, the tanks have to rely on the foot soldiers to protect their rear ends. Let me know what the final out come is. GP
  13. Anyone know how to take a scenario that was created with the 1.1b version of CM and convert it so it will work with CM 1.05?? Is there a binary edit that can be done to change the version string (or whatever data type it is)?? Thanks, GP
  14. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Rob/1: Nope there is no way...well you could try to recrat it in 1.05 but thats it. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Unless they changed the overall "structure" of the file, there has to be some version string or other data type that could be edited with a HEX editor. All I need to know is the offset, length and value. GP

  16. New scenario uploaded to CMHQ Scenario Depot. If you would like it befor it clears, email me. Title: Tiger Woods Type: German/American Meeting engagement Date: January 1st, 1945 Location: West of Rimling, France Weather: Clear Skies, Snow Length: 35 On December 31st, 1944 at 23:30 hours, operation "NORDWIND" was launched by the Germans in the Alsace-Loraine region. The 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division, "Gotz von Berlichingen" struck south with fanatical furry along a line east to west from Bliesbruck to Rimling, France. Attached to the 17th was a contingent of "Jagdtiger" heavy tank destroyers. While elements of the US 100th Infantry Division held tenaciously at Rimling, the 17th SS Panzer-Grenadiers penetrated the line held by the 44th Infantry Division into the Bliesbrucken Woods. By morning the 44th was engaged in a fierce struggle to retake the woods... Authors Note: This is a "semi-historical" battle. While the 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division did thrust into the Bliesbrucken Woods in the matter of a few hours, It took the Germans a couple of days to move up their Armor. This was due to icy road conditions and the fact that when the Germans pulled out several months before, their engineers did too good of a job on the roads and bridges. While it is doubtful that any Jagdtiers were engaged within the woods, I just could not resist using the title "Tiger Woods". I have constructed this battle to accommodate slower CPU's and appeal to both "head-to-head" and single player mode. GP

  19. Thanks for the heads-up Bill. Man, you guys just keep that ol' scenario crank turning. I'll have to take off from work for a week just to catch up! I'm finishing up a new scenario about the 17th SS Panzergrenadiers break through in the Bliesbrucken Woods west of Rimling during the first day of NORDWIND. The scenario is called "Tiger Woods". gp "If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you may have misjudged the situation."

I haven't got the slightest idea as to what it is, so you got the answers, I'll be glad to here 'em so anything will be exepted.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> An operation is a series of battles that takes place over a large map. Sometimes only a part of the map is visible during each battle. Where you start each battle is based on how well you did on the previous battle of the operation. Several operations are provided with the CMBO CD. Try one. GP
  21. I'm looking for feedback on "Hell on Horseshoe Hill". Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! However, I am particularly interested to know if anyone has played as the Axis and weather or not the Allies (AI) were successful in the bridge crossings. I attempted to provide the AI a good chance at the crossings by using a double span design for the multiple bridges. In my play testing the AI did make the crossings around turn 12 or so. What was your experience? GP
  22. Anyway, thanks for thinking of us vets! I plan on celebrating with some other vets. We're going to get out our 54 cal. flint locks for some minute man action! (and no I was not around when they were actually used in battle, I ain't that old!) Happy Veterans Day!! GP
  23. Hmm, Now that I think of it, I wonder if the casino boys would like a piece of the action. Picture this...CM hotseat or TCP/IP game on a HUGE screen in the Casino..."Place your bets ladies and gentlemen, the battle is about to start!" "Ok boys, This will be a 30 turn bout, rules of 75 apply and no shooting below the belt with AA weapons. Now let's see a good clean fight!" GP "The problem with taking the easy way out, is that the enemy has already mined it."
