  1. And to make things even stranger, the US military uses metric for distances, but not for most other things.
  2. I'm getting "page unavailable" message in IE and "anonymous login not allowed" in Netscape. "It's up!". "No it's not." Must be Moriarity's negative waves.
  3. It's a neat vehicle, but would you really use it in a game of this scope?
  4. Like a foreign film??? And have to pay attention???
  5. I mentioned it awhile back, maybe some others did too - but the picture illustrates it much better. I noted the problem when you have a squad and team in the transport, but failed to mention the feet under the transport. Seems to apply to other vehicles also. Another note - I placed a light machine gun team on a Sousa (sp)? and they are "dragged" around under the tank. Damn funny to see from level 1 tab view!
  6. Cripes! The "old fashioned way"! Love it! It's the CNE in me. [ October 03, 2002, 10:16 PM: Message edited by: Snarker ]
  7. You can do it yourself - for Windoze machines go into the folder, highlight the scenario files and then right click. Select "properties" and set the files to "read only". Any Mac folks care to 'splain how to do it for your machines?
  8. Man, I keep telling you the customs guys kept the game!
  9. For now, why don't you go into the folder through your operating system and make the scenario files 'read only'? Better safe than sorry.
  10. Musta had some rounds in their pockets. I'll pay attention next time one of my ACs gets low. Which is often.
  11. I ran a test with 4 t34's w/ riders and a lone Stuka 'buster'. I put 1 tank and it's passenger 500+ m away from the other 3 tanks, which I kept within 40 m of each other. Results: when the lone tank was targeted the other three did not button. When on of the group of three was targeted, not every tank in the group buttoned. Sometimes an untarget tank buttoned, sometimes not. As an aside, the riders usually stayed put even after their tank was hit by the Stuka. Once in a while they bailed, but only after the tank was struck. The map was plain, no place to run for cover, so I'll redo it with some local cover available to see if that helps convince the inf to run. EDIT: Added cover and the inf will bail and sneak to cover, but only if the attacking plane is making a run on their ride or on a nearby tank. The lone tank at the other end of the map did not button up. No tanks stopped moving. Note that the manual does say airplanes will constitute "contact" if a move to contact order was given and the plane is within 100m. [ October 02, 2002, 04:48 PM: Message edited by: Snarker ]
  12. Mike, I beat you to it. 4 years of college and I learned something! No need for BFC to do somefink. This contingency must have been discovered during play testing. They put a beer-proof coating on the cover...
  13. I spilled beer on my manual!!!! @#@&* !!!!! BFC fix or do somefink!!!
  14. More precisely, if the turn limit is set to variable, the game may continue for up to 25% of the original battles lenght or up to a max of 10 turns, whichever is less. Manual states one or more flags must have changed hands near the end of the battle for this to kick in.

  16. In addition, try the 'assault' command instead of just targeting.
  17. Seems like a good tactic. Very small groups of men in the proper cover can wreck havoc. Sending small groups of well equiped men out to do that (delay) did and does happen in real life situations. Of course, you better lie convincingly to the sacrificial lambs! Or be a Russian officer in WWII and threaten to drop them here and now or give them a chance "out there". LOL</font>

  19. Try a search on "Yelnia" and "casualties" and see what pops up. I'm pretty sure the initial casualties counting into the final score is an issue - your search findings should clear it up for you.
  20. Yeh, submachine guns. You running into their rapid fire in a mad rush.
  21. I saw the same thing with a trench I placed behind a rise. Panel said "open". My infantry was in the trench - the control panel initially showed open, but I saw "in trench" (or "trench", I forget) when I checked back on them after finishing the setup and starting the battle. 22. BFC used some vehicle models as "generic" representations to get more vehicles into the game. They have stated they will release new models in the future to remedy this.
  23. Had a JSU-100 poke a hole in a Sturm - lower side hit penetration. Knocked out.
  24. In the Mobile Defense operation, two rather amusing things happened to me. A gunner on a Soviet halftrack mounted weapon was hanging in mid air when the gun mount pivoted. Also, all the German squads loaded in their halftracks with a weapons team had one of the three men representing the squad 'running' along the left side of the vehicle. So I gave fast orders to see if he would collapse . I thought maybe using 'shift - c' to change the size of the units would possibly fix these issues (thought the squads might be scaled +1 level as compared to the vehicle) but to no avail.
