1. 1) You can fast forward through the movies if nothing's happening. 2) Command delay is based on the experience level of a unit, whether or not it's in command, and the command bonus of the HQ unit. I find it quite realistic. In fact, I'd be happy if the command delay was longer. Consider this - you order A Company's commander to take a ridgeline with his company. A Company's commander then has to tell his 4 Plt. leaders specifically what to do to carry out Batallion's orders. The platoon leaders then have to interpret those orders on an even smaller scale and tell his squad leaders what to do. The squad leaders then have to disseminate this information to the soldiers. In CM, however, this process is relatively instantaneous, with only a 10 second time delay between you giving the order and the men carrying it out. Seems pretty generous to me. ------------------ Soy super bien soy super super bien soy bien bien super bien bien bien super super

3. Voodoo cards use a proprietary API named Glide. GeForce cards use the standard D3D API. Check the technical specifications of your games. If the game supports D3D, they'll run fine with a GeForce. If the game only supports Glide, the GeForce won't work with it. This shouldn't really be an issue however. I can only think of one recent game which only supported Glide. A GeForce should do just fine with nearly any game. ------------------ Soy super bien soy super super bien soy bien bien super bien bien bien super super

5. If anyone's interested, there's an excellent online source for TO&Es at the British Wargames Resource Centre . I've found the information here quite accurate as far as I can verify, and even better, it's all in one place. ------------------ Soy super bien soy super super bien soy bien bien super bien bien bien super super

7. I don't especially feel like getting into a discussion of whether "gameyness" is a problem or not. Do a search on "gamey recon" and you'll have all the discussion you can handle. I prefer to play in a certain way, and I prefer that my opponents play the same way. I have no problem with people using whatever units or tactics they want in games, just so long as they're not with me. Maybe this makes me closed-minded. I have no problem with that. I have fun playing the way I do; I don't have fun playing otherwise. Pvt.Tom asked for opinions, I gave mine. He can do with that what he likes. Simple. ------------------ Soy super bien soy super super bien soy bien bien super bien bien bien super super
8. I prefer to play games using historical TO&Es. To each his own.
9. Yeah, I know it happened. Happened elsewhere as well. But wouldn't you be the least bit suspicious if, in a QB, you suddenly found yourself face to face with a few companies of American GIs supported by Churchills and Fireflies, and when you asked him what was up, he said "Nijmegen?" I'd think twice about playing that person again. ------------------ Soy super bien soy super super bien soy bien bien super bien bien bien super super
10. I'd personally call this gamey, yeah. It's not as bad as using, say, American infantry with British tanks, but I would probably avoid it, or at least clear it with your opponent first. ------------------ Soy super bien soy super super bien soy bien bien super bien bien bien super super

13. Hiram - The Firefly, the Challenger, the Achilles, and later on the Comet all have 17 pdr guns, which is capable of ruining a German tank's day very quickly. The Achilles is a dedicated tank destroyer, along the same lines as the Hellcat. But it's tough to go wrong with any of those. They'll all do just fine for Panzer whomping. ------------------ Soy super bien soy super super bien soy bien bien super bien bien bien super super

15. I hate repeating myself, but since you are all worthless cro-mag throwbacks, in this case I will deign to do so in the interest of maintaining a good working human/cro-mag relationship. My university ISP is free and fast and maintained by students. Which means that it is free and fast about half the time, and free and completely bollocksed up the other half. Consequently, it appears that my ISP occasionally hiccups when I attempt to send email messages with attached files. Therefore, if you believe that I owe you a file, it is most likely that I sent it but that it was lost. Drop me a line and I will resend. I am so filled with hate for you all that a million Catholic schoolgirls in a million knee-high socks could not erase my loathing. May the keening wails of Christmas carollers pierce your eardrums and liquidify your brains, every last cro-mag bastard one of you. ------------------ Soy super bien soy super super bien soy bien bien super bien bien bien super super

19. Any time someone starts talking about America as if it's a monolithic whole, I turn off. Call it arrogance, call it whatever you'd like, but America's a big place, with a lot of people. It's very easy for people who've never lived there to try to characterize America as all one way or all another, but that's wishful thinking. And personally, I am quite sick of these bull**** "America should do this, America should do that arguments." I'm living in London at the moment, and I assure you, if I walked into a pub and started proclaiming on how England should ditch the Tories, abolish the monarchy and stop pussyfooting around with all this European Army nonsense, I'd likely get my face beaten in. ------------------ Soy super bien soy super super bien soy bien bien super bien bien bien super super

24. Dear Cretins - Files have been sent to all to whom they were owed. I suspect my ISP is still screwing around, as sometimes messages seem to go through and sometimes they don't. Let me know if you believe you're owed a file from me and haven't received anything. If this keeps up I may have to switch to my hotmail account, or something repugnant like that. Unless, of course, you were making your post to brown nose Battlefront.com? No need to answer this. [This message has been edited by Apoc (edited 12-19-2000).]

No need to answer, but what the hell, I've got nothing better to do. In my experience, calling someone childish really means "you're not saying what I want you to say." As does telling someone that they're a brown-nose. How exactly would what I posted be sucking up to BTS? What does it do for me? They're not going to give me a job for posting on the forum, nor are they likely to name CM2: Beyond Chupacabra. Boy, if I'm really lucky I'll get a smiley from MadMatt and gee, would that ever make my day. BTS has no lack of hangers-on, but to my knowledge that's the first time I've been accused of being one. So kudoes to you, it's a first. You may feel free to keep up with your brave "no bull****" tone all you like, but a spade is a spade, and an ass is an ass. And it really is that simple. ------------------ Soy super bien soy super super bien soy bien bien super bien bien bien super super
