How much does it take to kill a guy???
Ellros replied to Geoff's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
And you'll only see the enemy casualties once you have fully ID'd the enemy squad. Part of the Fog of War. -

In response to Mr "I want to harpoon Moby Dick"... Use your inferior intelligence and obsolete eugenics to: SEND THE NEXT TURN... -
To start over, you select it from the list of available scenarios/operations, just like starting any other game.

Marders aren't bad... as long as you are not facing mortars and .50 cal mg's. Use them as long range TD's and you'll do okay. Think of them as a slow, non-turreted Hellcat. Shoot and Scoot.

Exactly which site again?

You may want to check the tech Support forum for questions on the LAN. I think it can, but some people have had problems getting it to work. A search on that forum should give you some answers.

What were the highlights for each nation?
Ellros replied to Stalins Organ's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I think the Battle of the Bulge was a big German mistake, at least in some parts. Yes, it was a success in some areas, but in the end it was a waste of men and material. Second... Hitler's insistence on building Me262's as bombers. If production had concentrated on fighters, some things may have been different. -
Gun Damage--What Are The Different Outcomes?
Ellros replied to Col Deadmarsh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Some tanks (especially Allied ones) have smoke mortars mounted next to the main gun, so the smoke round availability might refer to that. -

Okay, harpoon-boy, that explains Mr Rodent's absence, but what about you? Send me the next turn you git. -
Having Issue, please advise

I have found that they are scaled somewhat to the number of points (at least the "large" size maps are anyway). -
Damage to AFV's by 20mm/37mm - possible inaccuracies
Ellros replied to Specterx's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I don't know about you, but if a 20mm shell passed thru a vision slit and bounced around,. I sure would not want to be a crewman in that tank. That's part of how the small shells knock out the larger tanks... by causing crew casualties and damaging interior equipment. -

Yep, played one of those once. The map was huge, but it was really wide as compared to long. I'd have to say at least 4 times as wide as it was deep. And it does take a while to scroll across <g>. -
Tank gun muzzle Fire-Flash mod

I believe it was said that it was hard-coded, just like tracers. -
I believe MadMatt said it goes by US Eastern Time.

COMBAT MISSIONS: Armour Tactics - King Tiger!
Ellros replied to Manx's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Don't ignore zooks. They can hurt a KT from side or rear, especially when inside 100 meters. Don't take a KT into city streets if you think there are enemy infantry lurking. You're asking for it then. -
I use Zonealarm, and as long as I enable Combat Mission to act as a server, AND type in my opponent's IP, I don't have a problem.

quote:
Originally posted by Abbott: ALRIGHT, where has that despicable excuse for an opponent Hamsters gotten off to this time? Send me another of your Looney Tunes type moves. I am looking forward to beating your gameily picked OOB with my non-gamey picks.

Hamsters? What about his kin by whatever Harpooner? Haven't heard from him either. Maybe they absconded to Siberia to watch lemmings jump off cliffs. -
The Soviets used to use a 125mm AT gun (same gun that's in the T-72, T-80, etc), but I believe even they have phased it out in place of AT missiles. Like Michael said, Size and Mobility are key. That 125mm AT gun was huge, and hard to conceal. While AT missiles are small, and easy to move.

Ive won so many games Im getting bored
Ellros replied to KiwiJoe's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Good grief. I say throw him in the Cesspool and then see what happens. -
It seems to be that most cards supported by Nvidia are able to support fog tables. ATI cards don't. There are others on this forum that are more knowledgeable in these respects, but that's the basics.

Well then Lorak, you git yourself, send me a setup of any type so I can work my way into being knighted (or squired by somebody) by your most loathful highness someday. -
Well, for starters, you need an Nvidia based video card. ATI based cards do not support fog. The Geforce 2 and TNT2 work extremely well.

Thanks Madmatt. I have done a full install, but that could be the culprit all right.

Actually, Matt has said to send him email directly. The sales address is so backed up it takes a while to get to, but if sent to him, he can get onto it a lot quicker.
