  1. They were also used at airfields as towing vehicles, especially later with the Me262.
  2. Look in the lower right-hand corner of the Gaem Selection screen (where you choose battle or multi-player). It should say which version of the game you are currently running.
  3. As Madmatt mentioned... be sure to check the settings on a firewall if any. When I tried my first TCP/IP game, I could not connect either due to the way the security settings on my firewall (Zone Alarm) were set. I played around with those, and now I can connect with no problem.
  4. Not MOD's per se, but Max Molinaro's pics in the CMHQ screenshot gallery are pretty funny.
  5. I trust you had a laptop and were playing CM on the beach as well?
  6. IIRC, the 76mm gun was also provided to units in the field as an upgrade "kit", so theoretically any 75mm Jumbo could be made into a 76mm. It just required the unit getting a hold of the kit.
  7. I have to agree that the Ai will also do that. I watched the surviving squad of a German platoon run towards a house (and into the teeth of fire from a .30cal, 3 infantry squads, a platoon HQ, and company HQ). The House was the nearest physical cover (and housing my .30cal and platoon HQ), even though the german could have retreated back over a hill and out of sight. Needless to say, the german squad was wiped out just short of the house. I can't see it as an assault charge, as it was outnumbered over 4 to 1.
  8. Watching my only armor (an M36 Jackson) depress its gun to fire at some infantry in the valley below, only to fire and have the shell hit right in front of itself, therefore having the blast knock itself out. Needless to say, when the Kraut armor made an appearance, I was hosed.
  9. There's always NEXT year! -Rob (here in NE)
  10. Sounds like bad luck. How would it be AI cheating?
  11. Futuristic, but still good reading is David Drake's "Hammer's Slammers" series. He served with the 11th Armored Cav in Vietnam, so he's got a good background for armored tactics.
  12. I seem to recall a couple of the Iowa class taking kamikaze hits and as was mentioned in an earlier post, the sweepers went out to clean up. About the only damage suffered was to the open 40mm and 20mm gun positions, but nothing ever penetrated the main armor.
  13. That TNT2 card should work fine with CM, including showing fog.
  14. For those interested in the weaknesses of the Sherman tank vs the Axis... next Sunday (Dec 17), History Channel has the Sherman tank as the topic of "Suicide Missions" at 7pm CST. This may have been on before and mentioned here, but since I haven't seen it, I thought I'd mention it anyway.
  15. Still on the original plan... after the TCP?IP patch, back to the continueing work of CM2 - The Eastern Front. After that is plans for CM3 - Mediteranean/North Africa, and then CM4 - Early WW2 (ie France 1940, etc).
  16. <You may not conceive a "world series" for a sport that is only played in one country> Hmm... then what do the Japanese and Cubans play in that their Little League consistently whips ours?
  17. DON Greenwood is for Sqaud Leader Ed Greenwood is with TSR (aka Elminster)
  18. It's weird, I can access everything except the main forum.
  19. Yup, same here. I try to load the forum, it takes about 5 minutes, then I get the "Page cannot be displayed" message. Could not acess it last night either.
  20. I second that vcents... we'll get our revenge shortly...
  21. One thing to remember about Adcritic.com, is that a lot of their ads are not shown on normal television. They are spoofs. Meant to be taken lightly. Hence, I seriously doubt we'd see the Jim Beam commercial during Prime hours (even though wouoldn't it be something to see during the Super Bowl?).
  22. Help will be coming... IIRC Steve said a couple weeks back that the "fast jeep" targeting will be addressed in the next patch.
  23. Modern aircraft mg's are often in gatling configuration, which helps keep the heat down. Other aircraft cannon which are not usually have a much lower rate of fire. And you have to remember, WW2 pilots were told to fire short bursts. If they held their finger down on the trigger too long, jams were the normal result. As for man-carried mg's, virtually all of today's weapons are designed so the barrel can be changed out very quickly, since sustained fire burns barrels out quite rapidly.
  24. Addendum... my friend in town just picked it up. Must have reached the shelves today. I'll get a peek at it tomorrow night.
  25. I'm assuming you're talking about single battles? I know Operations can reach over 5 figures.
