Bunker's being abandoned (out of ammo)?
Pvt. Ryan replied to Cameroon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
It is annoying, but if you think about it, if the pillbox was overwhelmed by the enemy and you could not get the crew out, they would just be killed or captured anyway. By abandoning they give you chance to herd them to the rear. One way around this is to place your pillboxes so that they have a more restricted field of fire - not so much that they don't cover enough area to be useful, but so that they don't have LOS to the whole battlefield. I had made an Omaha scenario in CMBO with plenty of pillboxes. They did a great job of holding off the troops on the beach, but eventually they ran out of ammo and the Americans had it easy after that. Some of us asked BTS to increase the ammo supply for pillboxes, but the reply was that any more ammo would have been ahistorical and that we should learn to conserve. -
Bunker's being abandoned (out of ammo)?

It worked the same way in CMBO. -
I think Capt. Manieri made it in for the Italians.

Pvt. Ryan replied to Michael Dorosh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I don't have the game yet, but I have started a list of things I expect to complain about. I'll let you know as soon as the mailperson shoves the package in my hands! -
I want a pony!

What I meant was whether you live out in the sticks or not. If you live in a city you are more likely close to the source of your mail. For example, Los Angeles' mail comes in through LAX. I don't know if the mail is sorted there, but I know there is a large sorting or distribution center in Playa del Rey. It's one of those places that looks like a post office, but it doesn't serve the public, it just sorts the mail and distributes it to local post offices. The closer you are to the centralized source of your mail, the more quickly you will receive it.

I think the tank hunter teams would make good recon units as well, but won't they cost too much to use without much caution.

Okay Nor'easterners, Check Your Mail
Pvt. Ryan replied to Panzer Leader's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
This is why I had it sent to my work address. I think you will receive your copy tomorrow. I won't be going into the office tomorrow, but I will be checking in to see if it comes. If it does I will stop by the office on my way home. -
Question about missing bmp's/sounds
Pvt. Ryan replied to Canuck's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
It wasn't because they ran out of time, it was because they ran out of space on the CD. I don't think any future releases of CMBB will be any more complete than the current one, but maybe they will. We'll be enjoying the game while you wait. -
Cure for Reinforcment turncounter
Pvt. Ryan replied to TSword's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Well, I don't NEED to change anything, but some people who will be purchasing CMBB from a source other than BFC may WANT to change SOMETHING. -

I can host it for you for a while if it's not too big. -

Cure for Reinforcment turncounter
Pvt. Ryan replied to TSword's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
So, can this method possibly be used to change any other "undesired text" in the game? -
Garry, I meant when Madmatt speaks on CMHQ, not on the forum or anything he writes on Battlefront.com. AFAIK, CMHQ is has no official ties to BFC. I think the situation being discussed here was Madmatt's description of a mod hosted on CMHQ.

Books on Russian Equipment and Men
Pvt. Ryan replied to Voxman's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I have a book called The Armed Forces of World War II by Andrew Mollo. I've had it since I was a kid and used it as a reference for modelling. It has color illustrations and photos for units of all the nations and has insignia and organizational charts. You can find it here. -
I think there are already flag mods available, and any other interface mods you may want will surely be available before you get the game. The only thing you won't be able to change is where it says WG in place of SS, but you can live with that... can't you?
