Calm down Franko! For a minute there I thought you were going to kick his mom right in the face! -
Announcing my retirement from modding
Pvt. Ryan replied to Gordon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Thanks for your work. Have you considered making new skins for CM vehicles instead of mods? -
You have to have the ruleset saved somewhere on your computer. It doesn't matter where, but it seems best to avoid saving it in the CMMOS folder. Make a new folder and call it CMMOS mods or something like that. Launch CMMOS, select CMBB assuming that is the game you are playing, select configure, select rulesets, then select add. A window will pop up asking you which file to add. Browse to the folder in which you saved the ruleset and click on the ruleset file in the window. CMMOS should automatically load the ruleset. That's all there is to it. You do the same thing to install mods except you choose the mod tab instead of the ruleset tab. I'm pretty sure you have to install the ruleset before you install the mods that it supports. Oh, and read the read.me file carefully. It clearly explains the necessary steps, and also points out the differences between how old CMBO and newer CMBB mods work with CMMOS. [ November 19, 2002, 06:45 PM: Message edited by: Pvt. Ryan ]

Some advice - Please read...
Pvt. Ryan replied to Rob Murray's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I think you can create your own rulesets without Gordon issuing an "ID." You just have to use something unique so that it does not conflict with someone else's mods. As far as I can tell, Gordon incorporates any mods released in the interim when he releases new versions of CMMOS, and he isn't snobbish about who he includes. One of the neat feaures of 4.0 is that the user can very easily install the rulesets and mods that he wants to use, so even if a ruleset is not released through "official" channels, everyone can use the mods at their own discretion. I've never converted a mod to be CMMOS compliant, but from what I have read it is not that difficult once you understand how CMMOS works. Plus, I'm pretty sure Gordon would be happy to help anyone who is having trouble. The purpose of CMMOS is to let players easily select among various mods and use whichever one fits the occasion. The more mods CMMOS supports, the better it is. -

I think he has an ATI card, so he couldn't see the fog if it were there. -
What Ladder Is Everyone Playing?
Pvt. Ryan replied to Col Deadmarsh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I play on the Steppe Ladder because I am afraid of heights. -
Good enough for me. By the way, I did some hunting and this thing is very close to release, isn't it.

Truly amazing. I have been holding off on installing any mods until CMMOS is released. Can we get an option to have the tabs labled in English for the lazy and stupid?

RealColor Mod - Am I missing something?
Pvt. Ryan replied to markgame's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I haven't installed the mod yet, but I believe its primary purpose is to subdue the stock graphics so that they look more realistic. However, CMBB's stock graphics are not nearly as bright as CMBO's where Gunslinger's mods were really noticeable. -
Were these tanks, or T-26s?

Captitalistdogdownunder is too long. It pushes the message text too far to the right. May I suggest Sheila or RooBoy? -

Stay away from those sites unless you are ready to buy. Sometimes all the cool new stuff is irresistable. Take it from someone who knows. -
Haven't you people ever heard of "bottle" rockets?

Next Combat Mission game
Pvt. Ryan replied to Kaiser Soze 71's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Oh come on, Jon. I've done very well so far in my life making pointless, inane, ill-informed, and incorrect statements about anything I don't happen to agree with, or which doesn't fit my pre-concieved notions. -
I believe the forthcoming patch tweaks HQs aren't as prone to open fire prematurely.

Brown Bear Challenge Thread

See, is this what you want? For the record, I think it would be nice to have a Peng alternative, but the forum already provides what you asked. The forum as a whole is a place to discuss all CMBB related issues and Newbies can ask anything they want. There is a Tips and Tricks section for those sorts of questions. You can ignore the ancient insider jokes, or you can learn what they mean, or somefink. The Peng Thread is an exception that is tollerated mostly to keep all that nonsense in one place. However, when the cats are away the hamsters will play. What you are asking for is what the forum is all about anyway.
