  1. Just to clarify, I'm not dead against having negative modifiers on leaders if BTS are prepared to spend the time coding it but my personal preference would be for priority to be given to coding in tank leaders. With tank leaders you could really have some fun with your opponent not realy sure which tank to prioritise in terms of targetting but he suspects you probably have a good tank leader judging by the mayhem being caused. Who wouldn't want a Barkmann type leader on their side? Also, imagine the quandry for the player of whether to expose him early to maximise the carnage but then risk his early demise. Regards Jim R.
  2. Yeh, but what's to stop you from detaching the piss poor leader and putting him way in the rear while re-attaching either a Battalion or Company leader to the group of out of command infantry instead? That's why I would imagine that having negative leaders could be a waste of time and probably all they would be used for would be to hold victory locations, once captured. Regards Jim R.
  3. This discussion is all rather interesting. I recently used some 20mm Flak guns & sure enough, one of mine managed to get a single track hit in 2 and a half turns of firing against a Sherman 105 which did sweet FA to preventing the Sherman from moving and proceeding to blow the Flak gun away. Then a 2nd 20mm Flak gun of mine fired at the flank of Sherman 105 from approx. 75 metres away for just over 2 full turns. In that time it managed to score one gun hit and yes, you guessed it, the Sherman proceeded to turn its turret and blow the gun away. The bottom line is that they're not that "uber" and if you do purchase them don't assume that any track of gun hits will necessarily be effective. Regards Jim R.

  5. Jeez, Slappy's a bit frisky in this thread! Did you get lucky these last couple of nights or somefink? BTW Brian. We're right behind you as you tackle the Beelzelbub of Combat Mission boards. Regards Jim R.
  6. Hey... nothing wrong with us Aussies, you great Pelican! Jim R. (no Regards for such an impolite individual).
  7. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Pascal DI FOLCO: The other says "M2 .50cal eats Spw251 whenever it wants, except from front over 200 m". Verified it yesterday another time, it worked <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> If you have a closer look at those charts you'll see that the concentric circles use different distance scales for the MG 42 & the 50 cal. Therefore the 50 cal. can in fact penetrate a German halftrack out to about 400 metres if you look closely at the relative scales. Regards Jim R.
  8. I didn't know that it had turned. Since when has it become a "girlie" game? Regards Jim R.
  9. Question for the forum. What would be the negative impact of a Colonel Klink? Minus 2 to morale or minus 3? On a more serious note, I wondered about this as well a while ago but came to the conclusion that a player simply wouldn't use them and certainly wouldn't have them near any of their squads due to the negative impact he would have. Regards Jim R.
  10. Bloody hell! I thought that prohibition had been repealed. Not being able to drink in a publis place until 21 is a bit harsh. Live in Australia. Here you get to drink publically once you turn 18 and can legally drive a car on the roads at 16. Mind you, don't ask about the road toll per head of population... the above two situations usually don't mix. Regards Jim R.
  11. Yes it does. I have a Voodoo 3/2000 and it works just fine with it. Just make sure you have the most up to date drivers and you shouldn't have a problem. Regards Jim R.
  12. OK, thanks for that. I just assumed that because tracks are inherently pretty fragile and certainly don't represent an armoured potion of the tank that any hit (aside from MG bullets) would cause a mobility kill. Regards Jim R.
  13. I was recently playing a game as defender when a 20mm Flak gun of mine clearly scored a "Track Hit" on (what turned out to be) a Sherman 105. At the time I thought thank god that unit wont be able to move up to where the real action was but sure enough, two turns later it appears within 150 metres of my hiding infantry. My question is... has anyone else witnessed a track hit not result in a mobility kill before and if so, in what circumstances? Regards Jim R.

Once again my canonical example on this: A Finnish 75mm Pak40 team fired at own tank at range of 15 meters and missed. Then reloaded, fired again, and hit, blowing the venerable T-26 to pieces. At no point did they stop to wonder why the tank had a big blue swastika on it or why the tank commander kept shouting to them to hold fire in clear Finnish. - Tommi<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Here we go again with the uberFinns. Those trigger happy Finns would stop at nothing to rack up even more tank kills to justify their superior kill ratios over other nations, even if its their own tanks! Regards Jim R.
  15. Thankls for the tip MrSpkr. I hadn't read that topic before posting my bleat. Regards Jim R.
  16. Aaaaarghh... I'm starting to see pink elephants and having a bad attack of the shakes after seing your reply Pascal... what's wrong with me? Jim R.
  17. I'm trying to get access to the general discussion area (specific to Combat Mission) and I keep getting the following message and no page loading up: "Software error: Can't find string terminator '"' anywhere before EOF at /usr/home/discuss/Forum1/forum_1.threads line 21494. Please send mail to this site's webmaster for help. Content-type: text/html Software error: [Thu Sep 27 08:29:38 2001] ultimatebb.cgi: Can't find string terminator '"' anywhere before EOF at /usr/home/discuss/Forum1/forum_1.threads line 21494." Is anybody else having this problem at the moment or is it only me? Clearly I can access all the other areas but not the most important one. BTW, I'm using Netscape ver. 5.1 instead of Windows Explorer. Regards Jim R. [ 09-27-2001: Message edited by: Kanonier Reichmann ]
  18. How about best of three against Titan to prove you are N.Z.'s Combat Mission kingpin. It appears to me that the force K.J. purchased had way too much artillery for the overall force size compared with real life and was simply lucky it came up against an infantry heavy force. What probably won the day was fortunate force selection as opposed to skill at playing the game from what I could glean from the reports of the game. The true test of a good player would be to try out ones skills using one of Wild Bill Wilder's recently developed balanced scenario's that are currently being fought over in the Treeburst tournament using 'realistic' force selections. Regards Jim R.
