  1. I feel quite satisfied then. I managed to extract 35 points from Wreck in my Nordic Wannabee tournament game despite his force being the overwhelmingly superior one and Wreck controlling both objectives on the map by the end of the game. Regards Jim R.
  2. Why do I picture Daffy Duck saying..."I wonder where all the mods have gone today?" whilst floating in a pond surrounded by reeds. Is it just me? Regards Jim R.
  3. Sorry, it's taken a while to catch up with this thread Kurt. I look forward to meeting you again in the field of battle... just as long as its not bleedin well pitch black again! Regards Jim R.
  4. In recent battle the AI had Veteran forces. But actually because I gave it +3 bunus, that means he had Elite forces, even though in the game was displayed as Veteran, right?</font>
  5. Has this battle already been finished? If not, it might be prudent to hold back on the comments which could give vital information to Fionn (who obviously reads this thread) if it hasn't been completed yet. If the game's already over, ignore the above. Regards Jim R.
  6. Hey Charl....whoever said that Fionn at al were any good at playing Hasbro's "Axis & Allies" game? If that's what is being played then I wouldn't mind a piece of the action myself. Finally a game that is dumbed down enough for me to do well at! Regards Jim R.
  7. One potential problem if you're serious about including Jason Cawley is I believe his involvement may mean that Fionn may not participate as he has publicly stated only recently that he has, shall we say, little time for the man. That's my take on a recent post Fionn made about the matter in a different thread anyway. Just in case you think I'm making this stuff up, look at this recent thread. http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=024949;p=1 Regards Jim R. 8. Just one question Sgt. Kelly. Are the greyed out names of combat between various opponents supposed to have links to an AAR or are you expecting more to come? The highlighted ones I can download no problems. BTW, thanks for going to the trouble to set the page up. Well done! Regards Jim R.
  9. Gotta say, that was one MEAN looking lawn-mower with a noise that was more terrifying than the sound of an approaching enemy Panther! Regards Jim R.
  10. I don't doubt you CM Player but I would hope that I never come across such a player. You would have to question their motivation for playing if all they can do is stuff around the way you've desribed when CMBO is supposed to be a game to enjoy, which includes the suspense the game naturally contains without somebody trying to skew the results in their favour. Regards Jim R.
  11. I don't think it's a bug. I believe BTS have deliberately designed the game to give you a tiny hint of the likely action to come just as you finish entering your file name. I usually hear a brief snippet of an enemy tank moving just at the end of my turn which always means without fail that an enemy tank is certainly moving up from its previous position. Same with Panzerschreks etc. if they're about to fire early into the next turn. I don't have a problem with it however as once you're at the stage you're at, there's nothing you can do to change the outcome anyway, even if you wanted to. Personally, I regard it as a nifty feature and not a bug. There's nothing more suspensful than hearing that haunting noise of a Panther moving right at the end of your file when you're damned sure you hadn't seen one up to that point and just hope it wont be moving into position to draw a bead onto your own tank force. Regards Jim R.
  12. My only response to this is... careful what you admit to, this is a PUBLIC bulletin board after all. Regards Jim R.
  13. Is it a myth that the Russian hierachy deliberately manufactured weapons such as the 76 mm gun and the 82 mm mortar to be deliberately 1mm larger than their likely enemie's calibre in order to be able to use any captured shells (at a pinch)? I have heard it bandied about a number of times and have always wondered if it was for real or just co-incidence with regard to the USSR's calibre size of these common weapons. Hopefully some grog like people will know the definitive answer to this. Regards Jim R.
  14. I'd certainly pay extra for the movie payback feature. BTW, anyone taking bets on game day release. I'm betting 22nd June for some strange reason. Regards Jim R.
  15. Boy, if my post involving Jeff was considered abusive, I'd hate to have posted something about him on a bad day. As for your offer Jeff... choose your weapons (as long as they don't involve some bloody huge point cost if you're thinking of a quick battle as I'm not particularly fond of huge battles). A nice scenario that neither of us have tried might be good. Regards Jim R.

  17. Seeing as you have chosen the Giles Corey person to characterise yourself I shall quote some interesting literature in relation to the real Giles Corey, as opposed to the fictionalised version in Arthur Millers play: The best overall reference I have found to the Salem witch trials is Hansen's book Witchcraft at Salem [Ref. 2]. On p. 63: "Giles Corey had been very ready to testify against his wife, Martha, and to speak against her out of court as well as in: he had told several people that he knew things that would 'do his wife's business.' Now he was admirably, if belatedly, protesting her innocence as well as his own. But he did it stupidly; he denied having said things which witnesses had heard him say, and thus was several times caught lying. Since lying was a serious matter in Puritan Massachusetts and perjury is a serious matter in any age, Giles Corey must have made a very bad impression." [Ref. 2, p. 63] In summary, Giles Corey apparently was a sometimes violent, often quarrelsome, loose-tongued man, who was probably not well liked by his neighbors. He was pressed to death on 19 September 1692. The case appears to be building quite well. Regards Jim R.

  19. Ahhhhhh, Slappy, Slappy, Slappy. You're opinion of yourself knows no bounds. The presumption that you somehow are the messiah to the "common person" is breathless. Yet you also consider yourself the embodiement of the intelligentsia who is beyond the reach of the common man in terms of their ability to match it with you on an intellectual debating basis. To quote you from the Flipping Tanks thread in the General Forum To think that only the likes of Jeff Heideman, an acknowledged intelligent and well regarded individual can be your equal in a discussion smacks of pure elitism and self aggrandisement. There, I believe the first piece of evidence from a witness for the prosecution has been made. Regards Jim R. [ May 14, 2002, 03:21 AM: Message edited by: Kanonier Reichmann ]
