  1. Have to say that CMMOS is an excellent addition to CM. Makes applying the mods a doddle. We need more compatibility though. I'm sure this will happen in the near future. It would be great to be able to use some of the other hig quality mods with this, instead of manually copying files.
  2. Forgive the thread intrusion but you might be interested. I got the 'unofficial' demo after trawling the web for hours, and thankfully I got the 102MB file overnight before they pulled it off the servers. It's truly awesome. It plays every bit as good as it looks. On my KyroII the visuals are nothing short of stunning. The best graphics I have ever seen in a sim, period. IMHO it's the best of European Air War and WWII Fighters. Good timing too.. According to the reports we can expect the full game around November time - maybe we will be seeing CM:BB then too??
  3. Maximus, any chance I can see these beauties? Perhaps you could mail me them, although if they're on the large side perhaps I could pick them up off a server or somink..
  4. Whilst we're on the subject of terrain, is there a mod out there that can be used throughout all seasons and look equally good? The magua stuff is damn nice for June-August but the tree bases look off for the later months? I've gone back to using Kump and Gunslinger combined.
  5. Don't forget here that Widows 98, and maybe even ME do not utilise more than 256mb RAM. NT and 2000 yes, more memory the better, but the "home" o/s cannot.
  6. How much phyiscal memory do you have? Are you using virtual memory? How much hard disk space do you have?
  7. I'm about to partake in a huge quick battle, 60 turns, 3-4000 points, and I want to know your opinions on the best terrain for October/November months. I love Magua's stuff but the treebases look off colour during these months. Opinions on a postcard please....
  8. .. A while back Magua said he was working on his new winter terrain. This is what made me ask. I haven't seen anything since.
  9. Just wondering when/if we are getting an autumn/winter terrain pack to match the same standards as the Normandy pack? The summer months look fantastic but the later months need some work. I'd like to play some more winter scenarios but I'm distracted by the terrain somewhat.
  10. Hey guys I'm running a Thunderbird @ 900mhz and even I am noticing slow downs on the larger scenarios. I'm talking about 5000 pointers with every hires mod under the sun installed. It takes a good few seconds to take the turn and the scrolling starts to stutter a little.
  11. An interesting thread. I think we need to go back to basics here. What *exactly* does GREEN - ELITE actually mean in CM terms, and does it differ between infantry and armour?
  12. This is something that is of interest to me too. I find the same thing. If I lead with my armour, more often than not (in CM's scale at least) I will loose the majority of it early on to the AT threats. I find that I have to support the armour on the flanks with infantry.
  13. Hi Scipio I have had no problem with the Allied jeeps, have not tried this with the German. It's probably because the wagon on its own isn't seen as a threat and the machine gun is enough to knock it out.
  14. WOW. I've never seen FF before. You know, I've had this on my hard drive since middle of last year and it is the only game to last that long, and I can see it staying on for a long time to come.
  15. What do you think? As you can see the American team is firing at my squad, but I noticed that the the machine gun team at the top of the pic had targetted his own side!   16. Yeah, definitely full fog of war. This sort of stuff always happens to me! The arty barrage started on turn 3 if memory serves me correctly, and I got hit shortly afterwards with something heavier too! typical. The AI knows I hate the stuff, so it throws everything at me. I love this game.
  17. It's definitely off-map arty guys. The AI rained hell on me for several turns, immobilizing the halftrack on the left. It's just the way it happens you know - it always happens to me!! Turn 2 or 3, the arty strikes..
  18. That's what I thought. But I have tried this many times before on bigger maps and get the same results. Okay, it might take a fraction longer - but how come I can't see his ht's the same way he can see mine? Interesing eh? I have to hunt down the arty spotters and take them out. That's my only defense it would seem! Surely others have this problem??
  19. (This is my first picture post so I hope this works.) I am playing a pretty generic 500 point QB. I am the Germans. My plan is to test hafltracks and see what makes them tick in CM. I place these two behing this house, in between lots of cover AND set them to hide. In theory at least, there is now way any of the opposition can see them. I don't even move them. On this turn, as you see, the AI has spotted my halftracks and has started the arty. There is no enemy even close to this position, let alone any that can see me. The battle has only just started.   20. Hi CliffC You are right about deleting individual units from the selection, it can't be done unless of course they are support. You should use the scenario generator in this case. This also gets around your map problem. Design your own. Have you tried different battle types? ie, ME's, Probes etc. You will find these assign you different points depending on your battle. I like the Attack/Assault types as I generally play the attacker (better against AI) and it gives me an advantage in points allowing me to make up a more realistic force composition. When I start a QB I make sure I don't place any unit right up to the marker, unless it is a sniper or something along those lines.

  22. This is way off topic but you might like. A truck was responsible for sinking a Uboat in the Atlantic believe it or not. The torpedo hit some armaments and blew the ship sky high. The truck was actually blown off the deck and landed straight on the uboat breaking its back. I use trucks in larger QB's. I place them with AT guns etc, although I have to keep them well hidden. I find the AI loves to pummel them with arty otherwise!
