V2 is the improved version of the Carentan. I'm not sure of what improvements were added, but it is basically the same game.

Banning is the term used to describe the disciplinary action taken by a board admin against someone who has violated the forum rules. To be banned means you are booted off this forum, and no longer allowed back in. Violations of the forum rules will get you the boot, although you are usually given a warning beforehand as a chance to correct your behavior. You are doing very well so far, but then again you are playing against the AI. My advice is to play a human and not waste the scenarios and Ops on the AI. It does a decent job on the defense, but not so on the attack. Because Ops in CMBO lack victory locations the AI has nothing to help guide it, so it usually ends up advancing to the sound of the guns. The forces you detect massing on your right flank are most likely reinforcements that have arrived on that side of the map, and not a deliberate attempt by the AI to shift it's forces to your right.

Correct. As the German player your map is behind you, and because of the parameter settings you will always be pushed back no matter how well you do. Question: where are you now on the map? Can you point out any landmarks? If by game 5 you are still north of the river you are doing very well.

Question: was the battery currently engaging another target when you retargetted back to it's original coordinates?

Unless you broke some forum rule and were specifically banned by a BFC admin I wouldn't worry. I (or more correctly my ISP) have been banned several times. IIRC how Matt explained it, there are groupings of ISP numbers that are on the blacklist, and every once in a while you draw that number. Rebooting fixed that problem.

Hear ye, hear ye... Time for the next to last update before the finals. We are now in the countdown phase with less than a month to go before the deadline. Hopefully everyone is either already finished, soon will be or working very hard to make it so. If you are having any problems finishing a game now is the time to let me know. Although I cannot extend the deadline I may be able to help speed things along. So far none of the scenarios have been completed. I need 36 results to officially retire a scenario from the tourney, and to date I have received the following: The Beast - 29 King of Debrecen - 27 The Christmas Battle - 25 Hosszupalyi - 32 Rearguard action - 24 I would like to see more come in, as well as more people in the ROW BBS (29 members and counting). I do have a nice collection of AARs (many thanks to those who contributed), but would love to see more as well. ROW IV Aha, got your attention? Yes, there will be another ROW tourney. I plan on launching it sometime around September, and it will be identical to how ROW III is setup. Waaay too early to start signing people up. I just wanted to give you all a little advanced notice before you started booking your vacation in Cancun. As to which game we will use, all indications so far point to CMBB, with ROW V using CMAK. Thats it for now. I will post an updated list of Game results / AARs later on tonight.

Guys, Just wanted to remind everyone that there I have created a private BBS for those players who have finished their games and would like to discuss the scenarios and tourney. This is open to anyone involved with the Rumblings of War tournament, be it sponser, designers, testers or players of the 2 tournaments (3 once John Kettler gets his computer up and running). To date there are 25 members, both players and designers, and a lot of very useful feedback has been exchanged. It is because of this that I have decided to extend my subscription by three months. This should take us past the deadline and hopefully past the finals. In return I ask only one thing: feedback. Absolutely. Every casualty your force suffers is one more point to your opponent, so preserving your remaining units is a way of keeping his victory down to a minimum.

Capturing the main town on the right is as far as I know the only objective listed for the first battle, so you should be satisfied if you made it that far with min losses by the end of game 1. Anything beyond that is gravy. Keep in mind that you can combined the two allied forces into one. Doing so would give you a very powerful force of two veteran airborne companies, 4 tanks, a ton of support weapons and the offboard arty. BTW, drop me a line if you are looking for a pbem opponent for this op. I wouldn't mind revisiting that classic. Either side is fine with me. [ March 25, 2003, 04:52 PM: Message edited by: Kingfish ]
