Check out their respective armor. IIRC, the Sherman III was better protected, especially in the front lower hull. Not sure if that is the reason for the extra cost.

Can small arms/grenades cause rubble?
Kingfish replied to Ted's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Small arms can't do it, since they don't have a blast value. Grenades might, but you would need a shower of them, and most squads either don't carry that many or last long enough to use them all, Especially within grenade throwing range inside a buidling. Satchel charges, on the other hand, are more than capable of bringing down a building, but it depends on the structure and how damaged it is. An undamaged shack can be dropped with one charge, while a factory or heavy building will need to be a ** level of damage for a charge to rubble it (although I've seen the rare cases where a charge brings down a * level building) -
Guys, It's time to wrap this one up. I've been buried with real life as of late, and have allowed this to slide off the radar screen. Not anymore. We now have one month to finish the tourney. Considering that the finals have gone on longer than the actual tourney this should not present a problem to anyone. In fact, I expect everyone to be either finished or very close to it. Later on tonight I will post the list of games completed. If you do not see your name on it please e-mail me asap, hopefully with the scores, opponents, etc. We have until the end of October to finish this up. Lets get it done.

Much belated update... Just wanted to give you all a heads up that I have been buried with real life commitments, and have not had much time to catch my breath, much less to devote to the tourney. Just to be clear, I have not abandoned the tourney, just forced to put it on the back burner for a bit while I deal with what I have going on here. To those of you who have e-mailed me and have not received a reply, I will get to you, but please bear with me for a bit. This includes those who need passwords, or replacement players, or just wondering what the status is. Sergio

You are not only corect, but you answered your own question as well. Ammo divided between 6-8 guys weighs far less than the same loadout given to one man.

Is this an Op? And if so, was the minefield spotted during the setup phase of battle #2 (or subsequent)? -

RD tournament - Midsummer Madness
Kingfish replied to lucero1148's topic in Combat Mission - Scenario Talk
I have to ask: where is the recon screen???? I understand the point you are trying to make about night, fog and it's lethal effects, but don't you think that your opponent's losses would have been greatly reduced had he sent a half-squad ahead of the main body to scout the far bank? -
Aachen... Wild Bill Wilder... CMBB
Kingfish replied to V's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Wild Bill is very much alive and doing fine. He's been busy with other projects, but once in a while he sends an e-mail to the team at Boots and Tracks. V, There is a scenario on the CD that is similar to Wild Bill's 'Aachen', but is slightly bigger in size. Check out Andrea's 'Schoenhauser Allee'. -

best first operation?
Kingfish replied to Dr. Rosenrosen's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
'The beginning of the end' by jwxspoon is still rated as the #1 Op at the scenario depot. Others I would recommend would be 'Dergatchi Roadblock', 'Der Manstein Kommit' and 'Failure on the Aksai'. A good one against the A.I. would be 'The bitter end'. -

I want to take the dead from previous battles and impale them onto 20' tall wooden spikes, then set them up along my enemy's approach routes. Thousands of spikes, Tens of thousands, all lining the roads. With swarms of vultures circling overhead. -

Sounds like the British side has assault boats, which the A.I. is not programmed to handle. If you chose to play as the Germans you can only do so against another human. -
Grog history help needed! :)
Kingfish replied to AstroCat's topic in Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
AFAIK, the first battle for the Polish 1st Armored Div was around St. Aignan de Cramnesmil during Operation Totalize, August 8-9th. There they went up against the 12th SS Pz, and possibly some remnants from the 89th infantry div as well. I don't think they encountered any Fallschirmjager troops in a stand up fight. They may have run into some disorganized FJ units trying to fight their way out of the Falaise pocket. -
The ROW III scenarios turned out to be very balanced, which is surprising since balance was the one thing the designers didn't worry about, or tried to achieve. Here are the averages from the 36 matchups (allies listed first): Rearguard action 60/40 King of Debrecen 54/46 The Christmas battle 54/46 The Beast 51/49 Hosszupalyi 44/56
