Upcoming MODs & MODers Tutorial:
PawBroon replied to PawBroon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I'm working on it Saturnin. Fact is, to do the logo that is currently NOT displayed thanks to France Telecom, I had to do the weathering. Now it's just a matter of taking pics and writing the Tutorial. All in all, expect this for the week end. -
Upcoming MODs & MODers Tutorial:
PawBroon replied to PawBroon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
There were Hummel and Nashorn in RtoCW for you to MOD from?! Try it. If you're not happy with the result, don't release the MOD. I can tell you I wasn't able to do what I did for that Weathering logo when I first MODed my Hummer. Fact is, even though my Archer is now ouf of the bow, I've just learned how to make textures. MOD, and MOD again. If you do not, you'll never learn... -
Do the Faithful not Get the Bonus CD Content?
PawBroon replied to Brethon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
And what about the not Faithful? The good Ol' Noob who just want to buy this incredible game everydody has been hyping for a long time. Said noob would be French and buy CDV's retailed CMBO and be happy to discover that if the Brits need a Bonus, the Frogs can go play with themselves under the shower. Which we know is not often. Basically, how come CDV UK is throwing a candy and CDV France can't even produce a game of the same quality? No MOD, no added Scenario. Bad localisation with Names and Labels too long to be read in some part of the Interface. And since we can't have the fun of the English, why not have the drawbacks of the German? So it is that even with no law concerning WW2 games, the SS are now Waffen Grenadier in CDV CMBO. So just to be EXTRA sure, and because I want my CMBB in English through BTS, will I be obliged as a European to buy my game off the shelves and be stuck with such things? Steve? Martin? Steve Martin? I got nothing against CDV and I'm happy they have the chance to distribute this outstanding piece of software. Likewise, I'll be delighted if BTS turns rich all of sudden. But who got the brilliant idea to package such a neutered version for us French? Unreadable labels, Stock textures & Politically Correct unit names. Now that's an incentive... -
You've asked for it, I'll talk dirty to you...

Photoshop Elements good enough for mods?
PawBroon replied to MajorVictory's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
You can do great things with Channels. Go try PSP and PI as they are TrialWare and see if they suit your needs. If not go for Elements. As a side note, in many comp magazine, they tend to offer free full previous version. Check if you can't order an old copy of one with 5.5 or 5 since they are about to release 7... -
Update? at der Kessel? yup Berli earned his pay!
PawBroon replied to mensch's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Those of you who are still to go and visit Der Kessel should really try Epsom by Andreas which was designed to showcase the Archer. You might end up with a new found respect for that unglamourous TD... -
Newbies Post Your Tourney AARs Here!!
PawBroon replied to YankeeDog's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I don't want to pull my Frenchness on you Ted but aren't 100+ soccers games a bit much for some foreign n00b? I'm glad you're on your way to recovery and hope that you'll be able to kick balls in no time. Pun intended BTW, don't yell at me... -
CMBO is ranking as a good second behind Medal of Honour in those stores Dean. That would be Score Games IIRC. I'm glad they're doing so well so far...

Saturnin's Marder II mod... nice!
PawBroon replied to Warmaker's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Almost. UnBabelFished: Thanks for your feedback. I am glad you like my MOD. As for the Damaged one, it was an attempt to see how it would come out. I hope to improve on my trade with your help and your helpful feedback. Was it good? It was a first MOD. And for a first yours was way better than mine. Keep up the good work Philippe! -
PawBroons new ARCHER at TCMHQ
PawBroon replied to Tom TCMHQ's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Yup, it's not OS related. I guess Tom's Site uses too many fancy Bells & whistles and Netscape can't cope with those IE Specific thingies. Saturnin, AndrewTF and I. Now that was a MOD Festival indeed. What a week! -

I'll have to clear that with Gordon for a CMMOS Ruleset. -
Aww come on with your baseball and cricket! You really must learn to fear the Basque! Invented in 1857, the Chistera or Cesta Punta was very often used by Basque in our multiple wars. Here comes: Its first military use was in the trench war of 14-18 by Chiquito de Cambo. Those of you who have been lucky enough to catch a game of Jai Alai would know what kind of thrust and accuracy can ge gained by using a chistera. Some Basque commandos of the Vandengergh Hunt Commando were routinely using the Chistera to hurl grenades from far off in our Indochina war. BTW, this thread is turning as a pissing contest. Hi Mom!

Der Kessel is back up again (more info)
PawBroon replied to mensch's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Nice update Greg. You people should go play Epsom, a Byte Battle by Andreas showcasing the Archer. Now is the time to finally play one in a quality scenario... -
PawBroons new ARCHER at TCMHQ
PawBroon replied to Tom TCMHQ's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Thanks Rex. Those ReadMe in my MODs were the first time where I had a chance to dedicate something to other MODers. Then I pushed the logic futher and did this little web site of mine. Upon releasing my Pershing I'll include a ReadMeRex where I'll be myself. -

PawBroons new ARCHER at TCMHQ
PawBroon replied to Tom TCMHQ's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Thanks all. It was from a famed RTR anecdote where a Chinese farmer asker tankers of the Royal Tank Regiment how their tanks could possibly see without eyes. This was in WW1. They took on painting eyes on turrets. The idea carried on WW2 and those eyes were seen on many Mathildas. Those on the Archer are called Eye of Horus. They are supposed to be a lucky charm. Painting such things on a vehicle most people drive rearward in battle seemed to be necessary... -
Perfect! Just perfect! Thanks to all of you for making this possible. And for CMHQ for providing the service.

Since I'm not Peng, How can I be Challenged?
PawBroon replied to Leeo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Nope. People should know when things are so uncalled for that the reaction to it could only be allergic in nature. Posting his little Gnomish Sycophancy and going way overboard in a private email won't get him sympathy or much in the way of respect. Emma might be Fair, she is no Fair Game. Someday, people will study Steve's behaviour as the perfect example of the Law of Diminishing Returns...
