1. WOW! What a great job! You have outdone yourself this time. TT
2. Congratulations Ari on your fine run of games, and thanks to all who participated, I enjoyed all of the match-ups. Big thanks also to Treeburst155 and Winecape for organizing and managing this monstrosity. I also support Dorosh for Sportsman of the Year, for perserverance and good humor in the face of unbelievable adversity. TT
3. Well, Treeburst, I guess you scared him off. I haven't heard back from John since Sunday - another computer outage perhaps? At any rate, British forces have the main VL under control, and now have the primary remaining German position surrounded on three sides and under assault. TT
4. Hi Rob, Just to reinforce: Blue line = In LOS, but must target from scratch. Green line = In LOS, adjustment (shorter delay time) Yellow line = Out of LOS. Time will still be shorter if you adjust near the previous target, but out of LOS countdown penalty will still apply. Hope this helps, TT
5. Coming up on the two month anniversary of the unexpected break in hostilities with John K... Fionn, that might be map B, where Ari put quite a whipping on me. I'll send it over to you to see if it is the one you are looking for. Charles
6. I realize that on first glance these rules may appear over-the-top and even overwhelming, but they serve a valuable purpose to many in trying to eliminate misunderstanding and bad feelings between players trying to have fun yet play competitively. Thanks Fionn for taking the time to put all this together. Charles
7. I was counting on the CMBB delay to mesh with my schedule, so I guess I will have to bail out on this fine enterprise if it is going forward with CMBO. I'll keep an eye out for the next one. TT
8. I vote for #2, for the same reason that the local city leagues organize softball teams into A, B, C, and D levels - it's more fun for the participants. But, it's not really that important to me, I don't mind playing it however it comes out. Holien, I don't see the big advantage for blind opponents either. What difference does it make if you know who you are playing? It certainly doesn't seem worth the headaches. TT
9. I'm in favor of grouping by skill level (at least approximately, which is about all we can hope for). To me it comes down to simple mathematics: the round robin portion of the tourney consists of 48 people playing 5 games each, for a total of 120 games (each game takes 2 people). A single elimination tourney of eight people takes 7 games. It makes more sense to make the 120 games as evenly matched as possible, therefore more enjoyable for all, even if the final 7 may not be the optimum match-ups for determining the "best" player. I like the idea of considering the playoff portion as the icing on the cake, not necessarily the goal. TT
10. I noticed that the "Invitational" was not on your list of qualifying tournaments (and probably for good reason ). Any chance I could sneak in anyway? TT
11. Hey John, an alternate approach might be to pack that iMac up and head over to your nearest authorized Apple service center. Maybe they can remove the seismic sensor and insert a working CD drive in its place. Just a thought. TT
12. That's odd, I turned that file around within minutes. I just re-mailed it. I think this next turn could be very interesting, especially this early in the game. TT
13. I'll be waiting. It has been so long since I chose forces, I can't remember whether I picked French or Poles for this one. TT
14. John and I are inching closer to hostilities, I expect maybe one more exchange of emails is all that will be required. No, I haven't heard from Murray since he began his CM sabbatical. I did notice a recent post from him in another thread, so I guess his spirit still lurks around these parts. TT
15. Well, I guess this slipped past me. As a matter of fact, Mr Kettler is my last remaining opponent. We'll see if we can get something going here. TT
16. I just emptied an entire flamethrower onto Ben Galanti's on-rushing Fallschirmjaegers. Unfortunately, I think they enjoyed it. Time to unleash the 60mm mortars, I guess. TT
17.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael Dorosh: Of the 22 games in the active tournament (not counting games played with 1 or more player who is no longer part of the tourney) that ended in a victory (not a draw), 18 of them were won by the Germans. By my reckoning, anyway.

Well, I'm personally 4-2 as Allies, so I have a feeling your calculations may be a bit off. Some news from the front, where I am about halfway through with CDIC and Galanti: CapDog and I are slogging around in the snow and exchanging AFVs at the moment, and I think I am up one in that little contest. Our infantry is just trudging around getting shot up. In an interesting river/bridge/woods battle with Ben, we both went aggressively for the other side. However, I went over the bridge in the middle and he went across the fords on the flanks. So now we are trying to sort it all out, and should have quite an infantry slugfest ahead.
18. If it weren't for these threads, I might still be a junior member... 37
19. You guys have been doing a great job of beating up on each other so I could bubble up towards the top. Unfortunately, it appears to be my turn to slip back into the pack. Fuerte and I are about to wrap up, and I'm thinking (hoping?) it's a draw. It will be low scoring either way. On the other hand, Ari is beating the crap out of me. My night/fog/city skills are apparently a bit lacking. TT
20. Funny that Fuerte is worried about my remaining howitzer (as effective as it may be), since his hillside is downright bristling with those infernal things. It looks to me like at least 10 perched up there overlooking the town, only a few of which I have managed to neutralize. As if I don't have enough trouble with the storm troopers that have infested the village. Fortunately I have some infantry in his rear areas (so to speak), leading a desperate attempt to salvage the situation. I'm a little light on games right now, if anyone has an open slot then give me a shout. TT
