  1. I wanted to confirm hnh3's observation regarding "soft" building corners. I have seen this in VOT where a Sherman fired between two buildings at an angle where no visible crack existed from the #1 view. In the 1.01 version I also saw a tank eliminate an HMG team where the red targeting line went substantially through the corner of a building, then later a halftrack parked itself partially in the corner of a different building (at realistic scale). In the firing case I just chalked it up to the fact that the HMG crew doesn't occupy a single point in space, it is actually spread out over an area, some of which may be visible?
  2. One more thought - scattered trees over much less cover/concealment than woods. I generally have no trouble sneaking the AT team up through woods, but when I send them into scattered trees they often come running back out shortly afterward (those that can still run).
  3. Chalk up another Mac user - mobile CM on a new PowerBook G3 - can't wait for wireless TCP/IP play with my new AirPort either.
  4. My biggest problem has been accuracy - at least twice in CE I have worked schrecks into good firing positions from the wooded hill at stationary tanks less than 100m away, only to watch them reel off 7 straight misses.

  6. If I ever get a friend, then giving them a free copy is RIGHT OUT!
  7. Here's another one of those issues that springs up from a bad personal experience... I start VoT as Americans, up against +50% AI and free setup. When it comes time for first turn orders, I see that one of my Shermans is in plain view of 4 75mm bunkers! Amazingly it takes one out on the first shot as it frantically reverses towards cover but gets popped anyway. That brings up my question - why do I not know where the major, visible defensive items are before I set up? I think that something like a concrete bunker sitting on the side of a hill with a 75mm gun sticking out shouldn't get a chance at a sneak attack on the first turn. It seems like the "defensive" player should have to set up first, and any plainly visible units should be shown to the other player during setup. I bet this has been covered before, but I couldn't come up with the right search words -maybe someone could summarize a prior discussion for me as I try to figure out a way to hide my remaining tank from all these bunkers until the smoke rolls in... Not complaining, just wondering, TT
  8. Here's a topic I can contribute to... post #3
  9. I am fairly new to this and am wondering how to evaluate my skills versus the AI. Do you experienced guys typically crank the opposition up 150% and stay competitive (or even dominate) on any side in either demo scenario? Just wondering what I should be shooting for. I realize that facing a human opponent will be an entirely different experience, and I hope to get to that shortly...
  10. 15 years in real-time embedded software - first for the defense industry and now for the entertainment lighting business. So happy to see CM available for the Mac, my PowerBook is now my best friend.
  11. I haven't played all that much yet, but I did notice that a few otherwise ineffective shots from an AT team caused the crew of an immobilized Shermain to bail... Didn't get credit for a kill though.
