A quick note of thanks to BFC for a truly superior product, CMBB. I just recieved it today and decided to "kick the tires" with one of the scenarios. All I can say is...what a blast. The new movement orders are great, the tank combat is greatly improved, and EFOW with the death clock is a stroke of genious Talk about nail biting, as you watch your tanks pound that T34 with round after round, wondering if it is dead, stunned or just reloading.....

Sure, why not? -
Another nimrod that can't see that CMBB has many improvements over CMBO. CMBB has a new Play By Osmosis feature that was absent from CMBO. PBO will take the gaming community by storm! Another reason I can't wait for the full version. </font>

How I will play CMBB? With a computer, of course. I tried just holding the CD up to my forehead to play CMBO, but it didn't work so well. I figure CMBB will be about the same.

Massively Disappointed with Demo
THumpre replied to Michael Dorosh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I, for one, am terribly disappointed at the lack of even one Capybara in the demo. Not one, not even a little one. We can only hope this will patched promptly. -
Hey, That was a serious answer...well, maybe not the alligators...but the percentage is there to simulate the dnagerous uncertainty of traveling unground in an war zone.
-
Basically, it tis a 10% chance of becoming combat ineffective, either through getting lost, cave in, gassed, or eaten by the aformentioned alligators....

will the full version be more fun?
THumpre replied to yapma's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Nope, that's it. Just two scenarios and the tutorial. And I heard that Dan had the models done for a ton more units but Steve made him take them out..... BTW, does this qualify as one of those posts that lasck "civility"? [ September 08, 2002, 09:41 PM: Message edited by: THumpre ] -

Can whiney sacks of crap be modded?
THumpre replied to dalem's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I don't know if they can be, they sure seem hardcoded to me. No matter what BFC does they seem to pop up anyways.... -
I don't know if it is a bug or what, but I am getting a echo effect from some of the sound FX(the speech sound effects for the Russians in particular) I have a bog standard Creative sound card and have never had this problemwith CMBO so...just wondering.....thanks

I've got what i would consider to be a fairly decent machine and the only thing I have noticed is that the movement animation is jerky. I've tried turning down the trees and the doodads, but it doesn't help all that much. I figure my weak link is my graphics card....maybe I'll upgrade 2.4 P4 512 mb Ram Geforce3 t200 64mb

Old Bushmills for me, thank you. It will help take the sting out of what will probably be the first of a long series of defeats.....if CMBO is any judge [ August 27, 2002, 08:15 PM: Message edited by: THumpre ]

The CMBB intro brawl solved?

But is Georgia always on your mind, mind, mind....? -
Welcome, I echo what everyone else has said, CM is easy to play, but hard to master. If you find yourself losing sight of your troops, try turning on the unit bases, shift B, IIRC I also find it helpful to have both the movement lines and firing lines on during your movement plotting phase( the non-movie part) That way you can remember where you sent those troops The AI does a fairly good job overall in controling the troops but I warn you if you have them wander willy-nilly into danger there is no telling what they might do And yes, I have been know to rewind a particularly complex or exciting turn several times just to make sure I didn't miss anything...but then I think we have all done that. Good luck and keep with it, for a real blast try playing against another player either TCPIP or PBEM, that is where the real fun is

CMBB: Which Tank entices you the most?
THumpre replied to Chad Harrison's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I'm looking forward to watching a platoon of tanks(either side, any type) advancing on a position, taking fire from some hidden ATG and losing their nerve and trying to retreat out of harm's way. I watched a inky-dinky 37mm nearly drive off a plt. of T34s... it was great. -

Any planned online war for CMBB?
THumpre replied to BlackVoid's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
You might want to wander over to the Band of Brothers CM site and take a gander at all the Campaign game going on, if that is what you are looking for. Sorry I don't have the URL handy, but I amd sure there is a link to it at CMHQ
